How to make usb OTG and data cable

  • Usb OTG (On-the-go) and Usb data cable are very important accessories for your smartphones.
    Of course you can still buy it easily if it's not included when you purchase a smartphone.
    But for the sake of learning, I'll be making my own using an old mouse cable.
    Note: USB OTG will not work if you will not connect the extra pin on micro USB terminal.

    I don't understand this statement. Do you mean the connector #2 on the micro USB has to be jumped to connector #1?

      By, "Jumped" I also mean shorted. If that helps clarify my question.

      If we are talking about Micro USB cable, the connector comes with 5 pins and if you consider GND as pin no. 5, short it with the pin next to it (4th). OTG setup requires the unused 4th pin and the GND 5th pin on micro USB connector be short for it to work.
      If GND is your pin number 1, then yes, short it with pin number 2.
