This scene for some reason still gets to me. Maybe it's because that was me for over 20 years, including a year in Rikers. But I think the real reason is because of how authentic Jim is in this, and of all the pain he must've still had locked away somewhere in his psyche to be able to draw upon to give such a powerful minute and a half within this film.
Hi I wanna tell you Jesus Loves You So Much He Gave His Life for our sins so we can be forgiven from our sins and Go To Heaven! Gods Love For Us Is Unconditonal
Same here man this was me about 5 years ago bad on slamming heroin and coke or w/ g if I couldn’t afford coke. So glad I got clean 5 years ago especially when the fentanyl became a thing I’m sure I would be dead if I got a bag with that shit in it. So glad he got clean but r.i.p
It's based on the book "The Basketball Diaries". Run don't walk and read it. Got my first copy in 81. There are online libraries where you can read it free.
jim carroll filming his "cooking up" must've been so nostalgic and hard....
Yeah I think it has guts

Jim was one of the original beatniks he has the talk down pat..
This is just like talking to past self
I had no idea this was him, until much later
Me too. I’ve seen the movie a bunch of times but just watched it again recently and was like oh shit, he’s in it.
20th Century Rimbaud. If New York was a person. Absolute fucking legend.
Never thought of him that way but it makes sense.
That's exactly what I thought, he has all the Rimbaud vibes I love him
Class scene, love it
Such a fantastic writer.Good songs too.
Awesome movie
When it’s not your world anymore and your soul doesn’t belong to you anymore…..

Of course it was. Why would he ever need to make up a story. He lived it.
It's at the end of the book. But it happened to a friend of him. Great story
Jim communing with His younger Self
I never knew that was the real Jim Carrol until today
POV: jack survived titanic and rose didn’t
bit this was filmed two years before titanic was.
@@MrJames-tw3so magic
So this is real Jim Carroll right?
RIght
Yess
Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t look like this Jim Carroll or what he sounds like in this type of year movie
He looked very similar to a young Jim Carroll before the drugs. Drugs definitely changed a lot about him
