I came to listen to the reason, because when I read it, it's so scary, this people till today, millions of people recite this verse, and it convey a scary and harsh punishment. May Allah protect us and guide us to straight path.

@@chopsuey9950 remember when you curse someone, the curse goes to the gates of heaven and they don’t want the curse so it goes to the gates if this world and they don’t want the curse so it goes left and right searching for the person u cursed, if he/she deserved the curse, then he/she will be cursed, if not then the curse wil come back to you!!! How can a human being curse our beloved prophet ( peace and blessings be upon him ) and not expect the curse to return immediately as it did with surah 111. I hope u understood :) and this surah is also a clear message: don’t ever curse our beloved prophet Muhammed peace and blessings be upon him and his family, and just don’t curse anyone in particular as you may curse your self :)

Mufti Menk is the best history lecturer when it comes to arab and muslim history. I wanted to thank you for the great lectures you provide, with so much confidence but also modesty.
I remember, when I was studying in Crimea (at that time I haven't reverted to Islam yet), and there was an arab guy, who (I think he was intoxicated) cursed Allah SWT out loud, shouting, so that other people could hear it. He said it in arabic. And I asked an arab brother who was with me, I said "What did he say", and the Arab brother said, I'm not going to say these words, I can only you the meaning of it. I said ok, tell me please. He said he cursed God (Allah SWT). And walahi, i hope he repented from that, because a lot of people don't realise how dangerous it is to say these things, especially in public and in the presence of fellow muslim brothers and or sisters. May Allah give us understanding.

As told by my friend .. this surah is a miracle because of the timing of revelation of this surah ... If abu lahab would had announced himself as a muslim... When abu lahb was alive this statement in surah can be said by only who knows the unknown and future

@@orkunayteker9180 if someone claims that someone will die as a non Muslim before their death as a challenge to them. They can become Muslim and disprove it. He didn’t so it was more than a prophecy it is a fateful event. Meant to happen predicted by someone who knows what is yet to happen. And Allah knows best May Allah guide us all.

You all are missing the point of this surah... including this speaker. The beauty and power of this small yet unbelievably powerful surah is that God had decreed to the world that Abu Lahab and his wife were going to hell and shall die as unbelievers. Now remember that Abu Lahab HATED Islam and everything it stood for and all he had to do to disprove Muhammad and his message was to embrace Islam...even if he didn't actually become a true Muslim...all he had to do to prove you the world that Muhammad and his God were fake was to just say "I embrace Islam." But God knows all and this knew that Abu Lahab and his wife were going to die as unbelievers and thus this simple surah provided truth to those who seeked it. Abu Lahab had 12 years to lie about being a Muslim just to discredit the Quran and the prophet but his hatred was so vast that he couldn't even do that. Of course God knew this.
Ppl focus on the pain and wrath of this surah but that's not the point of it at all. It was a living proof to the people of Muhammad's time (and in fact to this very day) that God knows everything.

The story of Abu Lahab just doesn't make sense considering the fact that there are countless people far worse than him in word and deed yet ALLAH(SWT) will even pardon those through HIS GRACE till a person's last breath. The big contradiction in that narrative is that ALLAH does not negate or compromise the freewill HE bestows on each one of us. Abu Lahab is no different than any one of us.

I based my understanding on his linguistic analysis in that particular episode. My belief about the only unblemished Divine Text available to mankind, is Qur'an. So, because of its intrinsic nature should quite efficiently be self explanatory. "Marvelous Qur'an" offers a unique methodology in unraveling its hidden linguistic text. So succinctly similar to my 'problem solving' methodology in my line of precision work. Thanks for your interest.

Ohh something is missing here..!
Alright then. First of all he doesn’t say thousands of armies, he says there is an army behind this mountain. Second, there is no logic in saying that there is NOT an army behind the mountain. It’s an unobserved state. A bit like Schrödinger’s cat in the box, it could be both alive and dead. The army could be there, it might not.
The message is that abu Lahab refuses the prophets claim, without even checking to see for himself, simply because he hated the prophet. Even if there was an army behind the mountain, Abu lahab would still disagree.
Oh dear this story is pathetic. How can a God so merciful and powerful curses a mere human like another human being. BTW this Sura starts like. 'may both the hands of Abu Lahab perish' . Even the Allah is wishing (may). Wishing to whom someone more powerful than him?
It wasn't the only incident....Abu lahab was a horrible human being.... The prophet pbuh was a honest man!...he was known for his honesy
Abu lahab rejoiced when the prophets son died!...he was a wretched man....there are several incidents where he proved to be a cruel man!...he was the only person to be kept away from Islam...no one ever has been kept away...
