Never fails: i watch one of your videos, and i just cannot go through it before running to my work table with fresh ideas. On a break, i get back to the videos, run back to the work table.... rinse and repeat. THANK YOU
Thanks, Lise, for sharing your story. I have the same reaction to things around me in combination with art. I have to make a video! 🤣 Enjoy it all. Albert P.S. I would love to see what you make.
@@ImperfectPaintings Collage recently became the perfect medium for me to gather all things, forms and colors attracting my mind at all time. It's quick, incredibly creative and infinite in terms of inspiration and execution.
Thanks, Lise. I love to hear why collage works for you. Indeed, you can combine anything and create your own univers based on what's already on the paper. Enjoy creating. Albert
Great video! You're always reading my mind, Albert. Seems like every time you post a video, it's on something I'm literally already experimenting with lol! I just attended a pop art show in my town and there were a few 'collagists' there showing their works. Technically, I know this use of already existing images to make a new image is called, 'appropriation'. It produces an aesthetic I really like. I find that when I decide to create a piece, as I select from a large collection of clippings(magazine harvestings or my own recycled art etc.) I notice that the project largely tends to inform me or basically 'makes itself'. Maybe it's because it's not made from images I had to paint or draw so the ideas are more direct and flowing. There's also related forms of art such as, 'xerox art' , 'copy art' or 'mail art'...which all tend to have a strong collage element.
Thanks, Jarl. Perhaps we both feel what's in 'the air'. Indeed, there are several fields or neighborhoods within collage. Some appeal more to me than others. I love to just grab what's at hand in the waste paper. Anyone can easily copy this behavior. I learned that whatever I like or inspire me this week often doesn't appeal to me in the same way a week later. I stopped collecting images. The result is less perfect artwork, but because of it, it is easier to repeat. I mainly play and create for the videos, so my aim is different from yours. Have a great day, Albert
I only found out recently, here is a web page I copied. Cheers World Collage Day is an annual, international celebration of Collage on the Second Saturday of May. Initiated by Kolaj Magazine in 2018, we invited artists and art venues to hold events on that day to celebrate collage. World Collage Day is about artists connecting across borders against a global context of entrenchment and separation. And the day is about an art medium that excels at bringing different things together to create new forms and new ways of thinking. Ric Kasini Kadour, the editor of Kolaj Magazine, writes, "We created World Collage Day because we wanted to honour this community of artists and to remind the world what a spirit of cooperation, mutual support, and creativity can look like."
Lesson learned. Thanks, Otmar. It feels like you look with an artist's eye, to look with new eyes at a known situation, seeing the unknown. Enjoy, Albert

LOL, thanks, Ashley. It's a fun question, at the end like that. But I'll stick to just this one, that's time-consuming enough already. Albert
Fun!
Thanks, Mitch.
Albert for president ;-)
Thanks, Pavla, but I prefer painting or making collages like this. Albert
