The fact that Katsura is such a goofy idiot but is actually a Gin level badass makes him one of my favourites (just behind Gin and tied with Hijikata)

I wish you watched the anime version it had more scenes and easier to follow, but this version looks much better so I guess that's a plus

The thing that constantly alarms people about Gintoki when he fights on all cylinders is his inhuman level of speed, which is even more dangerous when combined with his level of war experience and swordsmanship skills. (Which, in retrospect, is what gives him his ungodly amount of stamina to keep standing up and fighting in the middle of a battle; even against sheer numbers.)
We'd seen just little hints of it even in the earlier episodes, such as the short duel he had with Hijikata on the roof, or in keeping up with Umibozu against the parasite alien at the Terminal; and that of course doesn't downplay his insane level of strength being able to hold down a real sword with his bare hands, or just being able to take on enemies with his bokuto (wooden sword) alone.
But as Gin demonstrates time and again, he's not about showing off or glorifying his abilities and past titles, nor does he look favorably on those who completely lose themselves to their obsessive ambitions and desires that forces them to throw away the "little things" in life.
Instead he holds true to his bushido and humanity, and stands up for those who can't defend their principles alone; especially against the odds of someone stronger than them. And if they're the opponent is someone who has lost their way in life the way Tetsuko's brother (Tetsuya) did, he will give them a pearl of wisdom to set them straight; even if for their last moments.
In later arcs and such you will start to see why Gin imparts so much deep advice to others, and why it almost seems like a self-reflection on his part when he makes these contemplative speeches due to his past. It recontextualizes this series immensely, and emphasizes why Gintoki is one of the best protagonist in Shounen.

1:50 - 4.00 That kind of fooling and messing around before things get serious is normal in Gintama. You should expect more in the future 😂 since that's what makes Gintama, a Gintama.
Some unknown or japanese words they used in subtitles, usually they will explain what it is in "Author's note" at above. Like that "tsujigiri" you asked, it was explained on the top of the screen. Kinda strange that you didn't notice that though 🤔 Anyway this is one of the reason why you will need many pause in Gintama, for the explanation.
The "annoying light" that Nizou keeps talking about refers to Gintoki, if you haven't noticed. This part is why I love the episodic version of Benizakura Arc instead of the movie. They cut out the explanation for the "light" that refers to Gintoki in Nizou's POV, one of my fav scene in Benizakura Arc :'(
42:55 Well the answer to that is because Gintoki is strong :) Both his soul and will ;) As a mere human without any superpowers, his raw ability is damn too strong.

Hilariously I have this theory of why Tetsuko's dragon sword looks like that. 😆
Orginally the Dragon probably coiled itself around the blade in a much cooler style, but because everything was happening so fast, Tetsuko accidentally rushed things and the dragon drooped into it's hilarious little poop form.
But because she's too embarrassed to admit that she messed up the work (which wouldn't surprise me, considering she's also a blacksmith in training), she keeps insisting that this was her intentional style the whole time. And tbh it suits this kind of series anyway. 😆😆😆

Also, a bit of a note for Takasugi and why he doesn't simply just "move on" from Edo and stuff, is that (much like everything in this series lol) his reasoning is peppered in small hints as you go along; particularly in bigger story arcs involving the key groups that eventually stand in opposition of the main cast.
But you do get a bit of a glimpse of Takasugi's obsession for revenge on the country through previous episodes, such as the corrupted Heaven's Arena where the Monk was forced to participate in death matches to satisfy the profits of his government "masters," or even in Takasugi's own debut episode where you learned that poor Gengai (the old inventor) was one of the many victims still suffering from the brutal aftermaths of the war he lost his son to.
As you continue to follow Gintama, you start to see the patterns of what makes Takasugi tick, and the great sorrow and rage he holds that keeps him going down this warped path of destruction; which reflects the way in which Gintoki lives his life on the other side of the coin.
