Great Video John, It looks wonderful….I’ve always said I don’t fancy going on a cruise, but after seeing that then I think the Fjords maybe an exception.
We felt the same back in 2017 & then went for it , best decision we made. Maybe a 3-4 day cruise would be an ideal 1st cruise. Thanks for watching Craig 👍
We felt that way for years until 2018 when we bit the bullet and booked a 2-week cruise to the Baltic, mainly because St Petersburg was one of the ports. So VERY pleased we did! Needless to say, we got the bug. The fjords are definitely worth the effort, even if this is the only cruise you will ever take.

@@theface72 Afraid I favour MSC over all the other lines I've tried (5), not least for price...& there are some excellent 'solo' deals at present, with 'premium' drinks included. Ships are beautiful, you eat well, are almost always attentively served, & they have a decent range of no-fly itineraries (flew too often for work to enjoy any more !). No doubt could think of things that are better/more 'elegantly' done on a combination of other lines, but could easily cost 150%+ of the price (example MSC Virtuosa - June 24th 2023: 1 week Spain/France, solo, top drinks package included...£479. Not a word of a lie !)

Hi & thanks for watching. The red church is approx 20-30 mins steady walk ( all flat ) from the ship. Come off the ship , & turn right to follow main road route. You really can’t go wrong. There’s also a little train that leaves from the ship area & takes that route. Not sure on price though. Olden is stunning & great flat routes ….until you get to the mountains! Have fun , you’ll love it 👍

Hi Sara & thank you watching. We also used the coach ( from Preston pick up) & have always done for cruising. It takes a lot of stress of driving or the train. It usually takes around 5-6 hours with a couple of stops for approx 30mins each. As long as you take a book, or headphones, watch a movie or 2 …… you’ll be fine. Also the coach drops you right at the terminal, so straight in. Enjoy the Fjords…..they’re beautiful ! 👍
Hi John, I noticed that P&O have a "No Drone" policy and nothing to say how or what they would do if I were to take a drone on board. I don't plan to use a drone on the ship just at the ports. we go to the Fjords on Britannia in June and I wanted to bring a drone with me for Olden, Flam and Stavanger. I am worried that if I do it will be confiscated at Southampton. Any advice?
Hi Richard Yes P&O have a no drone policy, however I took the chance with my Mini & packed it within my camera bag full of other equipment. As you go through ship security each time you board , the bag is scanned & on only one occasion was my drone detected. It was held in secure storage until we got to port , only then will they release it to you. For the record , I’m a registered uk drone pilot with certification & a few years of commercial use) - I did explain to them. The staff were absolutely fine , but did explain the reasoning from P&O. I would chance it , as you really don’t want to miss out on some stunning scenery. 👍

Incredible video with excellent footage and accompanying music…all edited to produce a very atmospheric and thought provoking video! Myself and my wife took this cruise (our first ever) last August and have watched many vlogs about it with this one being one of our favourites…well done! I also took my drone ( Mini 3 Pro) and captured some great footage and photos in Stavanger but they confiscated it when we got back on Iona and refused to hand it back until we returned to Southampton! 😡 Might try again with it in July on Arvia as I want to film in Pisa from the air! Did you ask permission to take your drone on board on embarkation day or wait until you had already used it in Stavanger?
Thanks for the kind comments Topscooby! I just packed my drone in a camera case, as you know the Mini packs very small & it’s was in my hand luggage with loads of other camera equipment. I knew that P&O don’t allow drones onboard, however I took the chance. I was never going to fly from the ship. Each time my hand luggage was scanned on returning from port , I only got question once, with the security asking if everything in my bag was camera gear, I said “yeah” Lucky , maybe…..but it was worth the risk. I wrapped my drone in a large cleaning cloth & then inside I small camera case, so maybe that worked. Thank you for watching & don’t be put off taking your drone. 👍
It’s a huge ship , with over 5000 guests, so there are times where if feels busy, but there was always places to sit, drink & eat. If the weather is good, then the inside of the ship feels fairly quiet, as a lot of people will be on decks
We’ll, the official stance from P&O is drones are not allowed on ship. ( I already knew , as I’m fairly experienced & registered pilot) However, they will take it off you at Security & only allow you use when you disembark for each port. Then you hand it back in. If you’re visiting such beautiful places, you really don’t want to miss out on footage. Thanks for watching 👍
