    So good Sharon! For me a residue from childhood conditioning. The message was always "don't upset your mother". In essence us kids were responsible for our mother's feelings. As an adult I was drawn to these types of people. Detachment was a life saver. 😊

    What about adults who need to cut ties with toxic adult children? Can your new book on Cutting ties with Parents be read from the parents point of view if the parent is the one being abused?

      Thanks for asking. I hadn't considered that possibility. It's written from the adult child's perspective so some of it is probably applicable and some won't resonate. If you end up reading it, I'd be curious to hear whether it's helpful. Feel free to drop me an email.

    Thank you for your wise words, I'm so happy to have come across your channel Sharon ❤! Would you say this detachment strategy is still possible when the chaotic person in question (a parent in this case) is also anxiously attached to you and still feels highly responsible for your wellbeing, as their (now adult) child?

    • @SharonMartin
      @SharonMartin  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's possible, but challenging because someone with an anxious attachment doesn't want you to separate from them. You may want to read/watch more about codependency and enmeshment. th-cam.com/video/1HcZyN4sut4/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
