Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi criticised the ruling
junta's latest restrictions on democracy at a regular weekly
meeting outside her residential compound.

League for Democracy (NLD) has written to the government,
condemning a new law allowing the military to hand out jail terms
of up to 20 years and confiscate property of anyone threatening
the stability of the state. Suu Kyi denouncing the law and
criticizing the press for attacking her party.
