I have watched so many vs code videos explaining the foundation for any coder to begin working. You by far win the title. So easy to follow, well explained and in a timeline that makes sense without mentioning something that leave people confused. Thanks very well done!
This was a really excellent introduction. I have been working with VSCode for a while now and i definitely learned some tricks. Thanks for sharing it with us and for those who are new to VSCode or maybe just intermediate, I highly recommend watching this video!
Ok first of all thank you for this video! I am changing careers into web development and I have been thinking that there is no way I can type code fast enough to keep up with people half my age, but this video showed me otherwise. You have given me a newfound love for writing HTML, CSS, and JS, and I am eternally grateful!
Super clear video man love it. Being able to customize the layout /theme of the workspace before beginning to write/learn anything is a huge stress relief
Fantastic, period! I learned HTML by myself back in the 90's using the extinct Home Site software, which BTW I loved. I remember many of these codes. The way you explain brings back many memories!
Thanks a lot I just learn a lot in your video how to use the VS features .... I am an old programmer catching up wit the technology Thanks for all this good stuff mate
Tried several other tutorials on VS Code but yours got me off the ground! Thank you! Relearning programming 12 years after a TBI is daunting. I'm taking baby steps toward cognitive recovery using coding as therapy. Wish me luck! It's taken 12 years to summon up the courage to even attempt to relearn JS, let alone the many new complexities of what has obviously become much more than a programming language -- it's an infinitely extensible platform with hundreds of moving parts. I'm following your tutorials as my gospel! Thanks again. Please let me know of any other resources you can recommend to kick start me into the world of front and backend application development.
Close all opened files => Ctrl + K Ctrl + W Open another terminal from terminal => Ctrl + shift + 5 close terminal => Ctrl + D switch between terminals => alt + left/right arrow keys toggle file explorer=> ctrl + B open settings => Ctrl + , (comma)
There is too much emphasis on key commands. Not everyone likes, or is good at using applications this way. It drives me crazy!!! There needs to be better GUI's out there. Screw all this minimalistic key-command crap! I guess most people have poor visual and spatial skills, can't handle GUI's, call them 'cluttered'. They prefer everything to be words. Well, you are not the only people in existence. I'm gonna make a purely graphical application, that you wordies won't know how to use!!! hahahaha!!!
Excellent video. I just starting to preactice coding working with html and css. Your video was clear and explained and cleared up exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much for your instruction.
I tried the emmet abbr. and I when trying to bring up the HTML boilerplate, it wasn't working using "!". I started late last night, early this morning looking into this. Eventually I discovered a setting wasn't checked. "Emmet: Use Inline Completions" was not checked. I checked the box and put "!" on a blank test HTML file and it brought up the boilerplate. Food for thought if anyone has an issue with it. Something to check for.
I know whole that stuff, but this is the most wanted video that I would watch couple of months earlier. IMO the first thing that newbie should do is to know the basics of the environment that will be working with. And this video do it properly. Another good thing is setup the terminal or just even change shell (i.e. fish, ohmyposh with auto-complete extention).
May I ask a question? Why those fast code inputting methods like "!" and "ul>li*4" do not work in my VS Code? I've set up my VSCode according to this video. Thanks!
Very nice introduction to VS Code! One question: Will the built-in IntelliSense work on all files like css, scss and js or do you need to install an extension for each type? I find that vscode quickly becomes slow on startup if too many extensions are installed... Always a pleasure watching your videos :).
Thanks! IntelliSense works on many languages out of the box. If you don't get suggestions, search for the language extension in the marketplace and it can be added on.
This video seems to be more about VS Code than about VS Code 2022. I've been using VS Code about a year to write HTML and JavaScript. I recently installed 2022 because it is maddeningly difficult to get VSC to run a C# Hello World program (kind of ironic, as VSC and C# are both Microsoft products). I see bracket colorization is built in now.
Hi Jesse, this is the best video on VS Code Setup I've seen so far - congratulations! In the section "Add Folder Structure" you add files and folders. When I do that, it doesn't add the HTML, CSS and JS icons. Can you please explain what I need to do to make the icons appear automatically? Thank you very much!
hello sir i was looking for a clear and precision video since last week and i found you thanks for this video you made with the deep explanations .i'm just beginner as developer (html, css, javascript )
Hi, just following through this tutorial on a Macbook. I am not getting the same icons as your example, and I got as far as creating the js directory at timestamp 9:54. On my Mac the js folder looks like it is inside the css folder. I'm not sure if that is the case on the windows example here. A lot of your students will be using Macs now as the market share has gone way up so it may be an idea to get yourself a refurbished Macbook Air (I highly recommend the M1) so you can show us the visual differences. Not a demand just a friendly suggestion.
VS Code won't even let me change the font size under 'Editor: Font Size' (seen at 4:15) & I get this error, "Unable to write into user settings. Please open the user settings to correct errors/warnings in it and try again." When I open user settings, it just a ton a code with no mention of font size or what error needs to be fixed to change the font size. In fact, I can't make any of the updates mentioned in this video since I'm getting the same error, "Unable to write into user settings.......". Please fix this ASAP

Where I can get a visual studio 2022 professional for reasonable price?
Yes, I got a key from some website, extraordinarily cheap, and it worked perfectly.

For people who use the terminal/command line a lot. You can open a project folder with the command `code .` right from any terminal.
