I'd be willing to wager that 95 percent of all Jessicas and Melissas born after 1971 were named after ABB songs. I know when I was in elementary school back in the mid 70s there were so many Melissa's. I got really sick of that name.

My brothers are both musicians and played in bands. As a result, my dad learned to really enjoy the music. One of my brothers was very adept at at Jimi Hendrix and Tony Iommi style guitar playing. My other brother could play just about anything from Bob Dylan to REM.

I love the way they end this song, it’s like landing a jumbo jet, they line up from a distance and gentle feather it on its glide path and the right when it is about run out of speed and stall they grease the landing like captain of many, many years. Love it. Mountain Jam too, just incredible music that is The Allman Bothers! 🙌👏✌️
For me, the Allman Brothers were and always will be one of the greatest bands ever. This song is happy, sunny and just great! It's why I gave my youngest daughter her name. Betts wrote the majority of "Jessica" at the band's farm in Juliette, Georgia. He named it after his daughter, Jessica Betts, who was an infant when it was released. I knew over 30 years ago that my first daughters name would be Jessica, solely because of this song, and 33 years later my oldest daughter, Jessica, has given me a great grandson, who is now 11. The Allman brothers have been and will always be part of my life.

I usually got a PA mix from the sound console/front of house guy, and added a little of a live mic I hung from the Capitol ceiling. I ran the two feeds, house PA and live ambience mic, through a Shure mixer, into a classic old DBX compressor/limiter and via a 1/8" mini-phone plug into the Sony 1/2" open reel video tape recorder. it's freakin' amazing to me how the track is even usable, let alone sounding pretty good. On some shows, we used David Vanderheyden's WNEW-FM mix, but most shows weren't on the radio.
Back in the day, I saw a LOT of concerts. These guys might have put on the most enjoyable good vibes show I've ever seen, felt like the idea of a Greatful dead show, very peace, love and great vibes of peace and joy. And yes, they were very much ON that night.
Way superior to the Greatful Dead . ABB opened for the Dead and Gregg asked Duane what he thought of their music because they hung around to hear it . Duane said "" This is Shit ". Read Greggs autobiography " My Cross To Bear ". It tells all .

Saw them play this at Brave’s stadium in 1975, along with Lenard Skynard and The Marshall Tucker band. A date and I had driven up from Auburn and it was maybe the craziest day in my life. I don’t remember much, but I remember them coming on stage VERY late and playing this song. Suzanne, if you’re still out there, thank you.
The Black Crowe’s , Govt Mule, are two bands that have some of the spirit of the Allman brothers. It’s some others too, but they get little radio play or publicity
Love the Allman brothers, saw them 8 times since 2004, but there is only one blues, rock and any thing in between and that is David Gilmour which i saw 5 times.
