Mr.Sys speeds up to constantly test Boyfriend. He is the spokesperson offering the challenge, and is meant to be the gatekeeper of sorts (you can't miss against sys) Duck hunt has a moment where he stops just before the breakdown. Almost like Boyfriend was mocking him and he's finally had it Boyfriend starts dominating the chart against Bowser. It's really subtle, but normally the opponent goes first, and Boyfriend follows. Boyfriend starts initiating the chart and starts with Bowser's theme, and then follows up with Sonic Mania's Boss theme, which not only sounds fast and challenging, but is also a direct insult to Nintendo, who at the time, was competing directly against Sega. My favorite one is the laughter after Boyfriend's solo. As if Boyfriend is getting cocky and challenges them to fight him all at once. A backing laugh track with demonic tone plays. The Nintendo Crew are eager to destroy this boy. The last solo has Boyfriend triumphantly bulldozing all 3 characters. You cannot beat this song, but throughout the tracks, the way it's played, and even the health bar, a story is being told, without any dialogue. And throughout the story, Boyfriend is actually the unbeatable one. Even the game over ending implies that you aren't supposed to lose. The cut to commercial sort of bit. I am just really addicted to this song, and I like to overthink these things, but I'm certain these themes were being conveyed, and it really enhances the experience.
