- Massed band and Bugles of the Rifles sounding retreat on Horse Guards Parade June 2022, This is the full performance from the event and apologies for the sound as it was recorded on my phone, as my camera decided it didn't want to work last minute and had no other alternative
Thank you for a superb video. Its not easy to tape stuff on Horse Guards Parade. What with the size of the place which makes everything look and sound far away, as well as the winds that always kick up there. Still, you did a superb job and provided historical documentation for this event. Who know if there will ever be another one with the constant cut backs and reductions of bands and regiments in the British army. The last Sound Retreat was 2017 I believe. For those like myself who could not be there you provided the next best thing. Many thanks again and if you don't mind I shall be sharing it on my Military Music Appreciation Society site on FB where you will get full full credit. Please join the group if you're not already a member
The previous Sounding Retreat was 2016 and before that was 1993. It is the intention to undertake this about every five years so that disproves your comment "Who knows if there will ever be another one with the constant cut backs and reductions of bands and regiments in the British army." Be more positive!!
Brilliant Swift and Bold

As ex 2LI, I approve of this! Lol. Cede nullis
For those interested the strutting march of the troops is unique to the Gurkhas in British Army …must be difficult to play an instrument at same time !
The Light Infantry and Royal Green Jackets quick marched at 140 paces per minute, 20 paces per minute faster than the rest of the Army.....apart from the Gurkha regiments who marched at 160 paces per minute.
