  • Here's how to replace the emblem on your Honda steering wheel. I chose to use this type of emblem that actually grips in there instead of using the ones with adhesive backing that will most likely fall off after a while.
    ----------- C A U T I O N ------------ A I R B A G -------------
    Work with caution when using sharp tools around the airbag.
    Here's the emblem:

    I used to work with some Albanian electricians. All good guys!
    I just bought this car and I want to trick it out. Blacked out chrome.
    Thanks for the video!!!

    I see that the two "plugs" at the left and right side don't really have a hole to go into. Did they snug down properly, or did you have to make some changes?

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes… I did have shorten those long stems in the middle and I think I clipped the two plugs your mentioning off of it.

    In case the airbag inflates in an accident, could the pins on the back of the emblem puncture the airbag?

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not a chance. First of all, this is just the outer shell of the airbag that, when triggered, it flaps up and over, away from you allowing for the actual airbag “balloon” to come out and inflate in matter of split milliseconds. So it takes the emblem with it when whipped around. Second, the pins are not pointy but rounded off at the end so even if there was a chance for it to touch it, it wouldn’t harm anything. But all this is just advice as a DIY’er, no professional talk, please research and build your opinion. :)

    • @NathanThrower
      @NathanThrower 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they can as they are poking into the airbag as he’s pressing it in.

    Hi Gm is there a chance the emblem that has the pens in it the new one you put on can trigger the airbag to inflate just asking a question? Also great video Thank you for sharing. It was very helpful.

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think the pins are long enough to trigger the airbag but you can always cut out the pins completely and then glue the emblem to the steering wheel.

    I got a new emblem but still debating if i should change it. The original seems like rubber yet the replacement is hard abs plastic...

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, very true, the original is soft and is wrapped in and out the holes, something you cannot achieve anymore unless you buy a whole new airbag assembly. For me I think, this is still a good solution.

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think so because the finish on the emblem has a very shiny metallic surface. No paint can come close to original and will look very tacky and cheap imo.

  • @NathanThrower

    Those pins should be sonic welded flat from behind the airbag cover. Those pins do not secure themselves and they are stabbing directly into the airbag itself.

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      True but that material is also very soft compared to what you can find on the web. This is only meant to be temporarily until you replace the whole airbag because to sonic weld the emblem you will have to completely take the airbag apart.

    1:00 dude there's an airbag behind and you're using a sharp object, then pushing hard plastic into it

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes, indeed... that’s why I first unplugged the negative terminal just in any case of an accident. As you can see, I was using the razor very carefully by first pulling the soft plastic out with pliers and then cutting out as much residue as I could. The little bits that were left (not hard plastic at all) more like rubber, I carefully pushed them down and away from the airbag since there’s room between the airbag and the leather but I guess you wouldn’t know...
