    Great lecture sir, I really appreciate your good work.
    Just a minor thing I wanted to point out, @41:34 Account Receivables went up instead of going down but you have written it in positive instead of negative while explaining.

    At 41:25 accounts receivable was accounted for backwards. That is the reason for the confusion. Somehow he was still able to reconcile. The calculation of operating expenses was computed using different numbers than was written. This is still a very good video.

    Thank you for the explanation. I'm having a hard time with the cash flow statement and your videos are helping me fill a lot of gaps.
    Just one question; in year 3, why didn't we add Interest Expense in the operating activities section?

    In the third case, why you included the value of purchased equipment from additional information in the INV. Part rather than the difference of the equipment in the current asset?

    What happens to interest received, dividend received and interest paid in cashflow from operatong activity?

    Account receivables was an increase which meant that it had to be deducted. Very confusing

    • @AccountingLectures

      Yes, increase in A/R is a deduction.

    • @lisamccray6481
      @lisamccray6481 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe it'll help to look at it this way, if this side weren't confusing, the other side would be. At least we didn't have to read the explanation from an even more confusing book written by Shakespeare in Old English. I dare say I think we both would have given up before blinking. Once we survive this chapter we will be able to handle maths at this level of insanity. Or it will be downhill from here. Just saying, I feel the same pain. This helps me grin and bear it. See you on the other side of this madness. In the very mean meantime, hang in there. Again, at least it's a video. What? 🤔 Rewind, replay, 15th time,....30th.... and counting.....

    • @TAEHSAEN
      @TAEHSAEN 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because A/R is being subtracted, not added. He did a typo there.

    Hi Professor, for Loss of Sell Equipment, I agreed that no actual loss in cash, but for gain, we get money because our proceed is higher than BV, why no actual cash gain here?

    • @lekhang151
      @lekhang151 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the true explanation here is that gain/loss other than derived from OP activities will be eliminated because they will be presented in Investment or Financing activities so to avoid double counting we have to eliminate them from OP cash flow

    Why would anyone become CPA when one can become EA with no need for education and it's pretty much the same thing.

    • @AccountingLectures

      CPA open more doors than just taxes (EA).

      @@001looker Not entirely true. On the corporate side, CPAs make up most of the management, senior management, director, VP, and CFOs. Your income can easily go up to $200K/yr or more for medium to large size corporations. Never seen an EA as a staff accountant or even senior accountant since you will need a minimum of a bachelor's degree.

      @@001looker Hey more power to you if you can pull that kind of salary. Would probably mean you are working some crazy hours with lots of smaller clients. Most corps I've worked for will not hire an EA over a CPA to do their taxes though. You can just do more than just taxes with a CPA. And accounting is not all tax.
