      Last 3 m8nutes of this game is enough to understand why MJ is a goat. Layup, free throws, listen to his coach twice (stay on malone to try to steal the ball - check, followthrough on shot because he was tired and legs were heavy-check). Clutch. Nah man, GOAT

      It's borderline criminal that the previous possessions are rarely ever shown before the last shot. It summarizes MJ perfectly.

    Notice how everyone including superstar players got called for traveling back then as opposed to today. Also notice how the paint is not wide open and how physical the game is with no flopping. Even exhausted MJ scored half of his teams points, made defensive plays, and hit his free throws. He had a complete game, so he could find ways to get points even if his shot was not falling with regularity.

    Young blood, much respect to you for taking the time to watch how they use to hoop in the 90s. Keep watching other full length games so you can see how the game progresses through defense and offense. If you ever dont have a full 2hrs to sit and watch a game you could manage your time by splitting the video up into quarters or halfs. Keep up the good work in your journey into basketball history.

    Looking back at it, this is my clearest finals memory. So so good, and at the time, it had this weird hope for more. Jordan throwing up more rings than 6 plays rent free in my head to this day. The weirdest thing about Jordan never losing... when it was active, everyone was AWARE of him never losing. It was a thing to root for him to spoil his perfect record, and at the time it felt possible. They weren't invincible, MJ just willed them. Such an amazing period in NBA history.
    Great video, keep digging into MJ. Its insane how many great narratives there are. Check out the 97 finals, he has a game winner, the "flu" game, and the finals clinching assist to Kerr after Kerr tells him he will be ready earlier at a time out. Also, check out the story of MJ punching Kerr lmao when MJ first returned in 94/95, how Kerr reacted made MJ respect Kerr a lot and frankly I think that punch led to that pass in some crazy way. There is just so much MJ lore its amazing.

  • @TheHarmAge
    @TheHarmAge หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    How many more points would this game have if played by today's rules? No illegal defence, no travelling, every touch a foul. That finals was a harsh fought battle from the start to the end. And at the end MJ made crucial plays, after playing all 82 games in the season and all the games in the playoffs. No load management. Everyone in any team back then played as much as they could to play every game and to get to that last game to get that ring. Some had to deal with bad injuries, some made it to the end. But MJ just wouldn't let them get that ring. It was awesome to relive that day, night for me, as I had to stay up through the night to watch it. All the best to you sir and keep on learning about the history of the game. =)

    Respect to a youngin like you to be open minded enough to watch one of the best games of the golden era and pointing the spotlight on it for others of your generation.
    As you can see, several things can be debunked about narratives put up by LBJ fans on social media.
    1. MJ played against plumbers. => Malone was a beast and the Jazz had a deeper bench than the Bulls.
    2. Pippen carried MJ => MJ scored half of the Bulls points that game. Pippen was a non-factor.
    3. MJ couldn’t shoot 3’s => MJ hit 3/7 with one of those misses being a heave when time was expiring. Without the heave that’s 50% from 3.
    4. MJ couldn’t go left => MJ was constantly going down the left baseline and getting hammered because they didn’t want to give him a layup.
    Other things I’d like to point out:
    The game was extremely physical and defenses were extremly tough.
    The refs were so strict with travels and offensive fouls that even MJ got called for an inconspicuous travel.
    MJ complained, but he never carried on and cried, and didn’t let it deter him from continuing to get back on defense.
    MJ played full effort the whole game, played good defense and moved around off the ball constantly.

    This is also a very complete team. Center was probably the most glaring spot on the floor for the time. Rodman made up for it, so does MJ, Pipp, and, Tony. Tony was underrated. Had he played in the NBA his entire career, A) he would have been a different player than he was, B) he probably would be in the HOF. They had Harper and Kerr as well. The team was nasty and could hurt you in any and every way. It kinda was the first super team in a lot of ways since Show Time or Boston. Just the amount of pure talent on the team, regardless of age. The ability to drive the lane and shoot from the perimeter and the defense of the entire team was nuts. You're getting one game. Having seen this team and the Warriors record setting team, all I can say is that I think the Bulls would just out work then, but with the willingness of the warriors to shoot the 3 would offset the post game abilities of the big 3 MJ Pipp and Tony along with the fade away mid range they all had

    Right before MJ shot that game winner over Russell, Phil told MJ that his legs were gone and that’s why he was coming up short with his shots. Phil told him to hold his follow through to add a little more distance, and Jordan listened that’s why he was holding his follow through, not so pictures could get him posing. Even though he accomplished everything, he was still coachable. Recently Phil was asked if he was starting a team would Michael, Kobe, or Shaq be his first pick. Phil said Michael, because he was the most coachable player he’s ever had.

If you watch closely he'll look over his shoulder and back out of the paint because of the previous violation, which they had been called for 4 times already! Watching it again it came right back from 98

    Just to help you understand Karl Malone he's the 3rd leading scorer in NBA history behind LeChoke James and Kareem, so hopefully you will get an idea as to how good Malone was

      @robbase5235 I definitely agree with you on that cuz Malone is 3rd on the all time scorer's list and if you listen to these Gen Z kids he's a plumber in their eyes!! Karl Malone would destroy James in a 1 vs 1 game

    I watched every single one of Jordan's championship playoff games. Even watched Pipp try to take the Bulls to a championship w/o Jordan. That team was missing a piece. If they just had something more, maybe they could have one the 2 in-between. It wasn't his last game, but it was in a Bulls uniform.

  • @timmorales1569

    This is another reason Jordan is the goat and kids don’t realize what he had to do for the bulls to win. Nobody but him can play the he whole game except a few minutes. It done it many times and still scored for his team with top defense. For all the lebron fan girls that say Jordan had pippen well this is what you got out of him and I know he was hurt but he only averaged about 12 to 14. Can you imagine any player today playing all them minutes except if few

    See looking back it’s not their best game between each other even tho it was the last big game. It’s hard to see the full picture without seeing all the games in back to back years of finals. To be alive watching MJ ascend and how MJ played better in the playoffs each year and won was amazing. The ‘92 bulls might even be better than the ‘96 72 win team. If I was you I would if you could watch MJs championship finals game by game. The wins and loses of each finals. ‘91-‘93 and ‘96-‘98. Even if you don’t broadcast it. Idk bro it was a great time to be alive
    Definitely watch game 1 1992 NBA finals

    Kukoc was a 6'11" PG from Croatia, nicknamed "The Waiter" because he was always serving dimes. The Bulls drafted him and moved him to PF and created HORRIBLE match ups four most PFs. Dude was a GREAT hooper, but MJ and Scottie were the lead dogs offensively.

    Stockton was one of the most underrated point guards in the day he had so much quickness a good vertical jump he shot was deadly and his passes were more deadly but the give and go with him and Malone is what one most of their games the give and go I guess is extinct now in today's basketball all they worried about is shooting three balls that's all these kids work on they don't work on fundamentals like defense they don't work on setting good pics today's basketball is not exciting to me at all I would love to see LeBron go through what Michael Jordan went through with all of these guys hanging on him while he is dunking the ball hail today you can't even check a man without getting a foul back then they were knocking you down holding you elbowing these guys that played in the old days there is always big men in front of the basket that she was going to have to dunk over sure not that way today is it it was much more exciting basketball than watching guys shoot a bunch of threes in my opinion the three-point shot has ruined the game of basketball Michael Jordan the way the middle is open with score 50 every game and I know you think I'm full of s*** but I'm not I watched the man play and he was a man that was born decades before his era he could play in any era and not even just play be the best you listen to me and like Jason Kidd who I think is one of the best point guards of all time talk about Michael Jordan you listen to the greats of all time talk about Michael Jordan and the fear he put into another team and people say he didn't pass the ball he passed the ball a lot at the beginning of the games but then he took over because when guys don't hit shots that he could have hit instead of passing the ball he was figuring what the hell is a sense of passing it to them if they're just going to miss the shot when he could hit over two and three guys and they are wide open and miss a shot they never had any good sensors not what you would call better than average I'm back in the day to win you had to have a big Center that was great but if you had Michael Jordan you didn't need a big sinner he could post anybody up and score on them or dunk on them his first move was so fast and he was a much better ball handler than people gave him credit for only saw the ball get stole from him one time and that was when he first came back from playing baseball I think he left the game because his dad always wanted him to be a baseball player and after his father got killed he was shot in a car buy some black kid I don't think he had any idea who he was killing but anyway Michael Jordan wanted to give baseball a try but you can't start anything in professional sports whether it is rodeo baseball basketball football you're not going to start that late in life and become somebody that is very good at that sport you have to have played it pretty much most of your life especially if you want to be great

    What’s crazy is that this was a fatigued Bulls team with no production at the center position Scottie gutting it out. Kerr at this point had the best 3pt shooting average in the game but you can see he wasn’t THAT guy in actual games.
    MJ missed more shots than usual but he was there to make three big plays in a row at the end. Watching the full game you could feel this was a game the Jazz was poised to win. It just felt like a Jazz win all game. But MJ has a lot of heart. Shout out to Pippen for going back on the court despite his pain. Gotta respect him for that.

  • @FireMedicMoody390

    This is why us old heads are crazy about MJ. You can't really get it through highlights. He could take over a game from both ends, offense or defense.

    • @dervish816
      @dervish816 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The basic principle of the illegal defense back then was to force defensive players to commit on their defensive assignment. Even outside the 3sec area, if the defensive player is left alone guarding no one, it will be called.
      The 2 most common case that it is called is when offensive players are spacing very well and a defensive player is caught too far from his man while the team is not committed to doubleteaming the man with the ball(practicaly guarding no one but a space or zone). The second case is when a defensive player mistakenly double-teamed a player without the ball.
