I worked with Fannie a few times when I worked for Candid Camera. It was one of my first jobs after college in 1975. Fannie was a lovely person. It's a great memory.

Fanny Flagg is a genuine National Treasure. I know a lot of people are watching chateau vlogs, but there is nothing funnier than a Fanny Flagg book.
I had to listen to kidnapping of dummy Chester over and over. It’s so subtly funny. Standing in the Rainbow.
The Wonder Boy of Whistlestop has to be made with into a film. It’s so good. I especially loved the evolution of Evelyn Couch. If you’ve only seen the movie, read the books.
The cookbook is available as an audible or digital book.I live you Fanny Flagg, you made my isolation sane.
Stay safe and healthy everyone. Great upload. Thank you.

I enjoyed that conversation so much. I love Fannie! I heard stories about her when I was growing up through a friend of mine, Joyce Norman. I’ve watched her on replays of Match Game and she cracks me up. I love her fun shirts she wears too. It was great to hear how she writes. God bless you all.

What a wonderful interview, I have always loved Fanny, watched Fried green tomatoes so many times I lost count. I remember my friend had seen the movie before me, and begged me to go back to the theater to see it a second time. Then as a teen in the 70's match game was huge tv show we always watched.
What is even more special for me is, upon learning she did not allow Dyslexia to hold her back but followed and achieved her goals .What a wonderful role model for people of all ages, not allowing a disabilities to rule your life say a lot about the person she is.
why this holes a special place in my heart, is I am Dyslexia as well, school was a nightmare for me, I was not raised with loving parents, so I was told I was stupide and would only be good at being a house wife, I was forced to quit school at 15 to watch my bothers and sister ( get a really training) and my step father to be his playmate and whipping post. even tho my life was riddled with pain of abuse. once I left home at 17, I went back to school. I could barely read or write. I know I did not earn my diploma from high school, but it got me into a good job a few years later when I married I taught myself how to read and write, in my early 30's I found out I was Dyslexic and it changed my life, I wasn't stupid, I went to college and got a 4.0 avg.
Even tho it took me many years to overcome the abuse and negative demons I was worthless and could not achieve my goals, at times I have to fight negatively. I push forward and speak at women's groups when ask about not to give up.
But all said, I give the credit to God, without faith and my prayer life I would have never lived though the pain of my past. this statement will seem strange to some, but I am thankful for the abuse, if I had not been forced to live the abusive life I did had not suffered so brutally as a child, I would be about to help others by speaking out now. Don't get me wrong, I am not a happy camper my childhood was stolen. I am grateful I can reach out to others.
My next goal is to write: I have so many stories in my head I want to write them down and spread joy and laughter and take the reader to wonderful places. if I can't I will enjoy them for me lol sorry I am so long winded that's the southerner in me lol

I don't know WHY Fannie doesn't talk more about her HILARIOUS comedy LPs! This interview is the only place I've heard her even allude to them when she did Lady Bird Johnson. Fannie came to my home town for book signings 3 times and I had her autograph the one she did about Martha Mitchell and she couldn't believe anyone still remembered it.
    Here's her Lady Bird

I bet when Fannie Flagg was a naughty girl growing up, her mother said(In a southern drawl) 'Fannie Flagg!'

Fannie Flagg was such a goober on Match Game, she was always looking at the camera almost in disbelief she was in front of it. Goofy lady, indeed.
