Man oh man I know the feeling of a motor taking a shid after a ton of mods and money 💰 I usually take my frustration out by breaking something 😂 then buckle down get my wrenches out and get the fixing 🛠
Eddie you a fool bro 😂😂😂
sorry for your lost bro. i really am. that said, the moment you said that engine N54 was making 700whp on stock internals. i know it was bound to have failures. with N54's anything on at 700whp the bottom and top end needs to be strengthen high quality controlled forged internals components. it's not a S58 engine. it's has it's limits. keep your head up bro.
Hey man, it is what it is. That's the risk we all take when modifying our cars. Sometimes, shit happens. It may feel real bad at first, but now's the chance to come back bigger and better than ever with this build... even if it feels like we just did that. We're all still here watching and supporting. If you need it, take a break, I think we'd all understand. Everyone needs a vacation sometimes. Take one of your other cars out, take a week, find some more races to run or even go on a road trip. Do what you gotta do to be you first, because if you don't take care of you, we can all feel it through the camera lens.
Blows 2 engines at max effort
Swaps a third one
Blows it
Just build the engine my guy Lmao
For real also bro is running 30+ psi, like bro what u expecting
@@Max_RiosC yeah i mean hes probably spent more money on a motors than just buying a built motor.... Should have been expected at the power levels he's pushing. I spun a crank hub on my motor at the same power level and immediately built it and put in a VTT crank hub. Makes no sense tbh.
@@jakegoldberg8941 not even close. N54's are cheap. He bought one low mileage, and probably paid 2500 bucks. And guys push alot more then 700 hp on these engines and they live a long time. World record is 1100 hp on a stock internals. He should of had the upgraded splined crank hub and that wouldn't of happened.
@@Max_RiosC 30 psi WTF is he smoking and expecting not to get high...
@@DJ-sr9yq its his third engine and he does all of the maintenance on each one. 2500 for the motor, then another 1500 for gaskets and everything else. Could've built a motor for the same price or less. You cant use that unicorn 1100hp n54 as a catch all, because most n54s blow up at 700-750, just like all three of his did.
2009 bmw 135i here , 116k miles, stock motor, stage 2.5 lpfp, Vargas stage 2.5 turbos, on 19 psi, makes 550whp on e40, very reliable and very conservative. You can’t push a stock motor more than 600whp.
overrevs and hard shifting, along with funky g forces on 650+whp is rough on the crank hub. auto cars can do 650 somewhat reliably if the trans holds up..
It's an unfortunate risk we all take when trying to be fast. I just blew a built motor a few months ago due to a stuck injector. Sorry it didn't work out for you, but it's usually a blessing in disguise. Bigger things are headed your way. Stay positive and keep moving forward.
700+ on a stock motor 🧏🏽♂️ + multiple passes back to back. You was clearly asking for it 🤷🏽♂️
+ hot humid weather lol
That's the lottery with n54, everyone knows that one guy who drifts 200k miles n54 bouncing off limmiter whole day long and his angine still running, and than there's the most random stuff like that crankhub of yours, doesn't happen often but that shit ruins everything. But I really do wonder just how much power were you pushing
it's his tuner at this point. torque too aggressive down low
@@JQ_Unity what exactly is torque too aggressive down low when he has top mount ST, that thing starts pulling at like 4k. I don't understand much how this things work but that's how I imagine it to be
@@TheLager97the crank hub has 1 pin. torque is applied on the whole motor not just the wheels everything is under a lot more stress so if u have sudden increases in torque at 700nm that will definitely break it but it’s not like u can’t get a 4 pin hub and solve the issue
Learn about seasoned engines and BMW pissy blocks 😂
Time for forged pistons and a closed deck now! :D
Edit: You just mentioned you'd go with an upgraded engine soon. Awesome!
forged pistons and closed deck wont solve the crank hub issue. An 8 speed swap would be great content ALSO please get a pinned crank hub either way, Stock block and pistons can hold that power level just keep torque moderate at lower RPMs so you don't bend rods!
That engine bay though......damn! Gorgeous
I feel your pain I had a Jetta years ago and the engine blew up, I was stressed as f… but then I got a bmw and was so much better so keep the positive attitude everything happen for a reason you can get or built better engine 💪
I feel you bro, I only had a 535i but i was pushing over 400 on a 140k mile motor and I did a pull at school to show off to my friend and my motor blew a few months ago, right now just trynna stay positive everything happens for a reason. GL bro
Ls swap it bro
They have the aftermarket part for the crank hub that can hold that torque and you should the rod bearings on your next swap
Yeah surprised that was not done when pushing 700
On the bright side, more content for the e90 😊
Facts 👏🏽
I’m surprised your mechanic didn’t warn you about this being a possibility. Crank hub lock to evade this
Bro, you know that any car with a turbo is always in question no matter what motor you using. High pressure moters are for racing and track days. But like any turbo car you never know..! But bro don't feel bad you know it's going to happen one day or another. Get rid of the force induction. Go back to Naturally aspirated motors. And like you know, a more reliable experience for sure. Take car the Bimmer they really are well made cars. And you know it..!
Those headlights look soooooo sick 😲 The engine bay do look sick tho
Honestly bro a low mile motor has less piston to wall than a higher mile motor. You are pushing high power, and you know like all of us, you are playing with fire above 700 wheel. Keep your head up, just go bigger and harder this time! This is all part of the journey bro.
Were here fore the journey regardless of how it goes. You've got my subscription. Keep going homie!
Bro , I'm really sorry that the car broke ... however massive respect to you as many content creators never open up to when they cars break ... and even more sad is that you dont get to enjoy your rides ... here I'm thinking you have these awesome cars and drive them daily but I'm wrong ... if I lived in the US I'd definitely give you and Ali a hand
That's a bad news 😢.
Sometime you need to crunch in the lemon and make it looks like that's a lemonade.
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Also as all other viewers we are lucky enough, thanks to you, to improve our knowledge about the car and the engine.
Thank you a lot for that.
You are a good content creator it's a pleasure to watch your content.
I wish to see that car again soon.
Man so sorry for this bro, i hope ull bounce back soon and better then ever. Keep your head up fam.
NGL- this channel reminds me why I got out of the modded car game. You dumb thousands into a car, then when the build is done, if you are lucky you just get bored with it if you don't crash it or blow something up. It's exhausting and expensive.
Everytime I hear crankhub I lean more and more to building a B58
I have just sold my n54... its just not worth the time and money... EWG n55 or B58!
It’s actually pretty common on N54 since people push TF outta them lol
I got n54 535i and thinking I need to go to the b58 SMH scared of the crank hub ...Ikik dangers with any engine modifications
You can spin a rod bearing on those. And high power causes the ZF 8 speed to slip
@@Unicornpirate B58 have no problems with rod bearing.... line literally non. and for normal people high power means 400-450. 500hp is really too much already... but still useable. but 450 is sweet spot. only in america people think 500 is low power and its cuz of long straight roads
Love the content, bro - and your E90 is fire! I would expect someone like you to know better though - you’re asking for trouble if you’re pushing more than 600whp on a stock motor. 600whp is the sweet and safe spot on a stock N54 motor, so if you want “more power”, you need to at least upgrade rods and pistons.
Upgrade crank hub would be better
I feel you. Im done with a similar setup as yours in my E91 (swapped) and I have few issues here and there. Like a/c leaks , power steering leaks. But nothing major on the engine (yet). And even if those issues are minor, sometimes it kills my motivation. low mileage N54 too ( 71k miles), hope for the best. however, I wont reach your numbers with a 6262bb turbo :D
Been there brother!! No worries, just another stepping stone on the road to content. Can’t wait to see its rebirth. 💪
😂 litteraly 2 stepping stones, how many will it take?
I'm so sorry to hear that you've experienced this. Stay focused 👊🏽 To your point, it's what we signed up. Again, I feel your pain. Dam it. I'l lbuy some shirts.. :o)
0:56 "...a BMW's natural habitat..." ROFL!
Big props to you for sticking w the car also. Lots of people would just try to get out of it after all that long hard work. That hard work will pay off bro keep it up w all the content. N54 ftw
No better project car
Honestly bro, its been a hell of journey for you. Just want to say thank you for bringing us great content through the years. Just another hiccup and you will get back up bro. Keep moving forward my guy 🔥
Yikes! Banging off the limiter is almost definitely the cause. Looking forward to the new build!
When I was going to go single turbo on my N54, I budgeted for a keyed crank hub just in case
Brother from us here at Boost Dad’s in Alabama we are so sorry for your loss. I have watched you build this car for years and have built my own while watching you so this is sad because you just put the motor in.
UPS & downs don’t tear yoself down about it Brodie you’ll be back soon
I think 22psi - 27psi is the best spot for an N54. Redlining of course hurts any engine too, especially FI. When i had a VF engineering supercharged e39 540/6, i did a fat burnout hitting redline intensely, then a day later the "U" timing chain guide went. I still managed to drive the car to the shop with the chain slapping around (i know, dumb) but ultimately the engine was ok with nothing hurt internally
Put a S55 in there and build it from the ground up! (Or a built N54) So much work done and your engine bay looks damn good! More fun for you in the future !
should of had a pinned hub on that thing. Honestly this E90 is so freaking clean, deserves a fully sleeved built n54 from VAC. Don't ever sell this car
So now B58 build?
Fuck bmw lol , so glad I switched platforms to ls . Ls3 and ls9 has been nothing but wonderful to me .
The stock crank hub rebuilt with the revised/sprocket “grip disk” & new OEM crank bolt torqued to yield with momentary breaks between each sequence to allow the bolts to stretch will handle the beating you give it. The mating surface between the sprocket and thecrank hub Has been given a rough finish. Just like many Bmw revisions they are quietly swept under the rug.. good lawyers on their part I guess🤷♂️
Torque and no lift to at high RPM is the deadly P. Diddy crank off party for the n54.. not to mention it is over a decade old.. so nothing to complain about but something to be aware of, best of luck to you on the next step, my friend🤙
Man the pain of blowing a motor on a car you love is something I'll never forget... only thing besides a breakup that left me with a 1000 yard stare. Hope it can be saved but zero compression on all 6 is pretty much has to be thrown timing or internal damage on the top end.
9:13 was patiently waiting for a B-58 F30 shirt……..
I would’ve rocked it , and the designs look really dope also.
🥲🥲😔😔😔😔😔😔
In a world of that sucks THAT SUCKS.
You’ll rebound young brother
Keep your head up
Excited for your next move
Thank you for sharing your good and bad times with a car we will always have a issue just being able to prevent things from happening is key 🗝
Bro. A underrated bmw. 535xi e60. Lots of people need content and parts
I’m building one
I blew my fully modded 2010 335i making 690hp with top mount turbo twice and finally said Im done with this damn piece and sold it and bought a Model S Plaid and blow everything away with zero maintenance and 100% reliability! I don’t miss the pops and crackles at all ! Incredible torque and traction. Gives me more thrills and happiness than the Bmw ever gave me! 😝
Yeah I’ve changed 2 motors on a 335 that spun the crank hub, and seen other techs change motors for the same reason, and honestly from what I’ve seen it’s definitely a manual thing
I think it's more of a manual transmission thing because they're spinning and sitting on limiter causing shock and sudden decrease in RPMs as it is trying to increase RPMs. I'm not familiar with N54's, but many of the higher HP ones that I see are manuals.
Especially if you banging it off limiter💀
Banging off the limiter did it alright
Damn bro… trials and tribulations! They say you gotta pay to play! Look forward to seeing the next steps fam! Keep your head up! 💯🤜🏼
I love these N54 videos man. About to get into my second E60 535i & I want to build something crazy so these videos help a ton. Can’t wait for the V3 bro 🔥🔥
Damn man sorry the engine blew so soon but hey remember ups or downs we love working on cars regardless yah it's frustrating but it would be boring if everything worked perfectly every time. Keep up the great work
Your answer is right there at 5:20..................you need a stronger motor and a switch light. Looking forward to your rebuild.
it's crazy this exact problem happened to me. Luckily I was able to get my engine rebuilt.
Happened while shifting up?
Rebuild motion now obvisouoly using arp etc high end internals you'll never ever have another issue other than the normal tire fluids 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey Cris man, I’m not the first to tell you but I feel every single bit of what you’re going through. Only difference being I don’t have as much money to blow as you..
My 335is took a shit on me beginning of the year and it still is down. The next night after a got done installing my ST kit I spun a bearing on my 16 pound base map. Logs looked perfectly clean.
Now thousands and thousands and THOUSANDS of $$$$$ later my donor engine has a top end ticking noise. Huge mystery, the engine was bone stock its whole life and didn’t even have a intake when it was still in the original car. Time is not on our side either. So I figured I’d "forget" the BMW, and I did. But not for long..
I bought a B8.5 Audi S5 manual (always Audi dealership maintained) and loved it. 2 days later the engine locked up. Barely making low 400’s on a Stage 1 tune with oem cats.
I've heard a few stories of that ATI damper causing the car to spin the crank hub...
Imagine
i felt yo pain bro. My e90 stock asf but i just blew the headgasket
Not happy that it happened but I’m happy for that fully built motor going into that car I’m sure you will keep it safe at 800hp
This like that meme "when you spend all your money on headlights then your crankhub goes out" 😂
I feel for you bro. Stay strong 💪
I’m sorry it hurts I know I have been there. It’s come along way Tigere.
If I was In Orlando I would help you for free Cristian. Hang in there my 335i was totaled so I’m going to buy one next month. Would love to ship it to you, so you n Jess can work on it to make some money for your e90
I feel your pain man. That really sucks but I know that you'll bounce back and your car will be Stronger and Faster...
No it don't, it will blew again, and again, and thanks to Vehicle Virals
I understand that BMW is not meant to be modified
*Sigh, man I know I know stay strong, it looks absolutely perfect too
Your left ear is a lot bigger than right 😊
Bent all intake valves I bet. Bottom end sounds good. Just swap the head snd send it lol
when boost happens.. shit also happens.. good luck fixing! hoping you best! 💪
I am about to buy 2007 335i tomorrow for 10k
79k mileage, 1 owner with clean car fax and good maintainence. After I watch yOur video I kinda scare from it :) now i don’t know what to do because I drove the car yesterday and it drives very smooth
Sorry about this man. I’m on the fence of doing my crank hub on my stage 2 s55 m2 or upgrading to an s58 m3
oh man :c im at 145k miles as we speak. I just bought the Bilstein coil overs, m3 control arms, billet valve cover and gasket, and lastly oil pan gasket and bolts for oil leaks. This is just after installing the CSF radiator and VSRF intercooler and all HPS coolant hoses and heater hoses. Ive driven 3k miles in 30 days surely we are not gonna have this same outcome.....
Make sure to plug the head ports if your going above 20psi of boost on a single turbo
N52 still going strong☺️😌😏
Yea cus its dog water slow 🐌
Closed deck n54, n53 head, 8hp70 gearbox build
Stay strong OG. 💪
its not a bmw natural habitat on the trailer, just the heavely modified ones, get back there soon!! 🥰
this makes me wanna get rid on my n54 damn
That’s a dumb reason 😂💀 monkey see monkey doo huh
dont, i just hit 34psi on accident like 3 times and its still fine. i swear this guy puts a death map on every stock block lol
Bro his version 2 ran for years. More power more problems.
@@Vgk36 i get what you're saying i'm pushing 500 on my 335xi on twins but i would like to go up to 700 - 800 just always believed the n54 could take it around that power range either a stock block but tbh it seems like it needs to be built more with crack and rod up grades
@@n54single i know the n54 has huge potential with even future breakthroughs in the near future
that e90 means the world to me i swear it. because of it (and you of course 😅) i now have my 335 and i love it
Turn the tune down on the next one, 600 wheel is plenty for the e9x platform on the street brother. But you are a racer at heart, and it’s always ‘more more more’
Love the channel brother
Yah expect to push 700 on these reliably is crazy lol
My question is Did you have a crank bolt capture and would having it save the motor ?
Mann just swapp a b58 you’re the guy for the job you got the resources and the cash to make it happen!!! I believe in you Christian and the platform!!
I had crankhub failure on my e90 n55... blew my mind cause its auto cost me 3800 to fix i have way to much money in my e90. I feel every bit of your pain.
Looks amazing 😮 can’t believe it’s breaking
oh wait. this is 4 hours old? holy. i thought this was an old video for some reason.
- Today my 128i i've had for a month has white smoke coming from the exhaust. ran perfect yesterday... no engine noise, idles great, and no check engine lights. just had the engine cleaned so maybe they f'd my disa? i feel ya, dude.
my car isnt' anywhere near invested as yours but I did do some stuff to it visually. I was hoping to get to your point with it :/
I've had this happen😢 , you can replace the head and fit a crankhub fix and you should be fine till the built motor is ready😢
She aliiiiiiive ! For how many tiiiiiiiiiiimes ... change it again ! and again ! and again !
My engine builder tried talking me out of a pinned crank hub but I was adamant about doing it along with a closed deck conversion. "It's just not an issue on these cars like it is on the S55s".
Then this crap happens to Christian. Imma sleep better at night knowing my motor is ready for the power.
Shiiiiiit this whole situation must suck, but I know your gonna bounce back harder and stronger again ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Come back bigger & stronger, build the motor. Don't give up on the OG n54. Show the new school how capable the n54 is.
I just drive a stock 335is, DP, New Turbos and arm large intercooler with stock induction and charge pipes. I consider my 335is fast enough it has silicon inlets and I'm going dinan soon
I live about a hour away from you. I own a BMW 335i 2011. Wish we could meet up some times so I can take a look at your amazing car builds. I really feel for you man.
He’ll be fine, makes plenty of $ lol
Tough break, but you live to fight another day
Man your first problem is the direct injection. It's got so many issues. I have a 2011 bmw 328ixdrive n51 engine with 200k miles which is the best in my opinion. Also same color and e90 style as yours. I have owned a 2007 bmw 328i with the n52 engine only difference is the manifold in the n51 has plastic disa valves. 3 stage manifold. Go with that next.
Play hard, Pay hard, Stay hard!
Did you have a spline lock hub or pinned hub?
this and rod bearings
Man I feel your pain. My n55 locked up and just went into neutral, outta no where. Pretty sure a rod got starved. Wanna make content on mine? lol
That part of the game
Damn charge pipe. Tigere. You will be back in the game.
Cammed RX7 got me crying lmao
most of them ls swapped 😂
Legit sounded like it was going to shut off 😂
@@VehicleVirals He is saying an rx7 is rotory no cams. LS swap would, but rx7 sounds like an angry weed whacker lol
@@joshuaquilliam2887 I know what he was saying. I'm just telling y'all what the RX-7 sounded like. Like a cammed LS.
smh , speedy recovery bro
Throw new valves and crank hub at it and call it a day
I have a BMW f10 and I am debating on leaving the motor bone stock or modifying it, what do you suggest?
