Thankful to TLS for holding this interview. Many of us women and ofcourse cocerned general public were not aware how Mam Rosemary and her team went through so much of hardships while pursuing this noble cause towards the Naga women. It was not easy nor a short struggle journey but for more than a decade they persist on till it took shape. Today the implementation of women's is a reality in our State because there were people like her and others who bore all hardships and struggles and fought without giving up till it is successful. I'm immensely thankful to her and all those women who resiliently stood thuer ground for this cause. And now as the women's reservation is implemented successfully, the Naga women should hold a program to acknowledge and appreciate thier commendable work towards the womenfolk if not yet held. It is my humbled, sincere request to the present President of Naga Mother 's Association to please look to set a day to hold a fecilitation program to acknowledge thier valuable contribution.

Acquired property can be given to women, but ancestral properties and lands belongs to Khels and clans and the pure men acquires it to purify ancestral man hood. But some widows or unmarried women can take plot of lands for fields with no taxation but under the Clans jurisdiction. Facts of our Customary

    • @raech7663

Treating women as property so they no longer belong to the community for marrying someone of other ethnicity or clan, is outright sexism and misogyny no matter what and how you try to fit in to justify your point. Its an age old thinking that needs to be broken. We women are our own person and need not be identified under the shadow of a man. These rules were set at a time where women were treated as merely property, that's it and its time to come out of that thinking. Patriarchy is not a natural order, it is mostly a result of economic changes in the past.

The foundation of our Naga civilisation is centred around our wholehearted acceptance of Jesus Christ as the supreme being of our lives. As a community and as individuals, we have chosen to adhere to Christ's teachings.
Every member of the Naga community needs to remember and uphold the legacy of our ancestors, who recognised the significance of personal evolution and abandoned the traditions of animism and headhunting.
It baffles me that every church, regardless of its location, seems to be bustling with worshippers on Sundays if the years of listening to the sermons have been so laborious that no transformation has yet taken root in individuals' hearts.
A sea change will occur in our society when all the patriarchal heads of state establish a humble alliance. Looking past the fact that our lives on earth are temporary and applying Christ's teachings into practice, we can respond to Christ's love and love our neighbours authentically.

Equity 😂😂 equal means both men and women are equal ,reservation means exploitation no act or amendment is stoping women to contest in loksabha, state legislative or any urban bodies equal opportunity does not mean there will b equal outcome, this reservation is taking away the rights of men forever in those areas where reservation is reserved for women ,if reservation is made for women then they shouldnt b allowed to contest in those which arent reserved for equity and equality
"What legal law is stoping them from contesting ??"
After going half way through this women activist is competing against men only she doesnt understand the difference between men and women roles ,
Ancestral land doesnt allow women coz during olden days while farming women marries to her husband thus automatically she owns the ancestral land of her husband ancestral land she cannot own two sides of ancestral land like wise her husband cannot own her wife family ancestral land 🤦
And for private own land now a days the daughter own the property of her father without any family members claiming for it these women is only finding stupid loopholes and silly reason to go against men not worth and serious subject if i were given opportunity to debate her i would debunk her points any day anytime looking forward we have a resourceful conversation in the future

I love my mother, my daughter, sisters, actually I love every women beautiful, ugly and even non-existent women😂 and above all honestly I respect them all. But I may have some difference in opinion on the reservation policy because I believe in meritocracy and I'm also happen to be a true Naga.
Yes, Customary Laws should be adaptable to the changing times and needs but we must be very careful of diluting our social norms. Btw Land and Customs is the only IDENTITY Nagas have and can be identified with so try to respect and secure Article 371A at all cost.
Actually women not getting inheritance is nothing to do with discrimination because if we think logically actually the women are the real owners, because in our society when a woman is married to a man she gets to inherit whole of her husband's property as hers even if there are just some few and the same woman would like to have his sons inherit it so that the sons share it with their wives and so on. And for the daughters, like her mother they will inherit her husband's and so on and that's how we can also maintain our lineage because you see everything is connected to land and land only and that's where our customs and traditions emerged again to govern over the land and blah blah and it all leads to Article 371A and so we must not let it be breached or your identity is in danger.
If only our Mothers would fight for Quality Education for all Daughters and Sons in all nook and corner of Nagaland so that we may all be empowered just like them so to express and speak out our thoughts and rights without ungh ungh ungh.... instead of the reservation which to my best believe in the context of the Naga women enjoy equal or more rights than men.
Also Afraid that in the name of liberty some groups like LBXYZ- fights in court and infiltrate into our society really it will be a doom day.

You're trying to present a non existent reality of the women of Nagaland by twisting the idea of customary laws. The real reality is otherwise. Second, women are not property that once we get married, we become someone else's. That idea and mentality is what needs to end. If that ends, discriminatory laws will end.

It's time we Nagas clear the illusion that women are equal in all sphere with the men in the state. The fact that apart from other fields in which women have done exceptional, why are women hardly seen in the elected bodies? I bet not even those who are against the ulb reservation would give a single vote to a women candidate if there is no reservation. Let women too participate in the decision making, they are no less intelligent than the male counterparts. Maybe when the time comes where women starts occuping more than 50% seats then, the reservation can be scraped.

But it is true though. If policies are implemented to let Naga women get ancestral lands in the name of equality, slowly but ultimately, it will be the doom of our cultural/genetic etc. uniqueness when they marry outsiders and their children own lands. It is in the dominant culture's fingertips like the massive Indian culture to assimilate such a small group like us Nagas into their culture within no time. Adding to it the factors that their majority have more money, more outreach, more advanced than the common Naga man. It's a recipe for disaster. There have been similar studies done on it eg Spanish inquisition of the Jews and Muslims or the prevalence of Hindi usage in Arunachal Pradesh. That's why we have laws like the Art. 371a to protect us against such. Even Naga women should think about this!

I think Nagas need a little more time to hold on to Article 371A. Unfortunately Moikhan laga dimak aru lifestyle needs to adapt and catch up with the rest of the world first. In the long run these reservations will eventually infringe article 371A. Saluto and Diezielie will run the government eventually.... Saithakibi... 😂

Sadly a woke culture has entered into Naga society initiated by few individuals. We have seen & experienced In Naga society men and women enjoys equal opportunity except for land heritage being following a patriarch system. Article 371 A is at doomed for the Nagas.
