What a match by two warriors! Glad to see Hesham has become more mature and focused in recent years. The dude has all the crazy skills and so fun to watch.
I mean the level of entertainment is unreal! Two great athletes giving their all! I'm really glad the Black Falcon is making more and more consistent performances, I remember a few years ago we could all see the amazing things he did but also mixed with too many mistakes but he has massively improved on that part while still keeping the level of complete trickshots that are so entertaining!
Hesham is starting to realize his full potential. Seems like he’s become much smarter, mentally tough and physically fitter over the past couple of years and it is paying off big time. Hope he can win one of these big tourneys.
Favourite player to watch Hesham. You never know what you will get but one of the most gifted stroke players. How he produces a drop from deep with that wrist snap...
So impressed by BOTH these warriors. El Shorbagy has been playing at the pinnacle of the sport since he won the world juniors (for the first of two times) in 2008! 16 years of this, hard to fathom.
Played squash for over fifty years in my prime and loved every minute but these guys are playing a different game. 95% of their shots would be winners to most of us. As with most sports, if you have played it yourself you understand what it's all about - my wife never has !
*BRILLIANT REFEREEING!* In the full match there very were many decisions by referee Daniel Greco, and they were all exactly right, and perfectly managed. Any aspiring ref (and a lot of top existing ones!) should study this match. Part of this, is that officials only ever made a stroke or no-let when they were _sure._ Otherwise they played a let. Fulfilling the suggested principle that ref's should only interfere with the scoreline when they are sure. Wonderful match, perfectly refereed.
Hesham is still prone to complete mental fortitude failures, but has become increasingly capable of getting back on track. That was a massive result from what it looked like in the earlier games.
Great match... But... Sorry to see it end on that stroke call... If you look at the replay it is obvious that Hesham was looking for the interference and not to play the ball... Hesham was moving back, his racquet position was high, and the ball was out in front of him and actually bounced away from him and where Elshorbagy was in his movement... But it was a long match, so, why not go fishing. A better call would have been a let.
I remember how many times people say that about Mo over the years, and still he only recently lost his top 5 position recently, and even won Qatar Open in 2023 after so many wrote him off. I suspect he will have a few more drop offs in the future, but he will continue to keep bouncing back.

So nice to see Hasham win these tight matches now.
❤Hesham
Great match!
What do those G1 G2 G3 errors mean at 1:59 ?
Hesham must have such a strong forearm and wrist. His unusual swing must make him very difficult to play against.
Black falcon soaring higher by the match!
Genius takes on guts.
Elshorbagy still such a competitor.

Very high level match ! But so sad that ref level reached the new low !
All the flashing lights between points are so damaging to one's eyes.......
