    As a supplement to the basic lesson, I'll be analysing the riff and showing how you can use the basic building blocks of the melody and rhythm to come up with your own cool bass lines.

      I'm sorry for your loss Stephanie, Jimmie was great player. I heard the song while shopping yesterday and his bassline just blew me away and I couldn't wait to get home and try and play it. It's one of the funkiest lines ever. The song would work if it was just bass and vocals!

    That slide from Bb to C, then the jump down to Ab is the most difficult part for me. I've had to return to this vid several times while working to get it right. Thanks for posting.

    Suggestion - Would have been useful to add if a pick or fingers were used for "the sound", and the amp settings (or if DI'ed )for the studio recording? I assume it was all fingers playing style for the studio recording.

    Am I missing something, at 13:30 you say "Second finger for the Ab" but you appear to play it with your first? Do you mean the F? You also say that later on for the little run and mention "Eb with the second" or are you calling the Thumb your first?

      Picking hand not fretting hand

    • @talkingbasslessons
      @talkingbasslessons  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's all about the picking. I very rarely spend any time on fretting hand fingers because they generally write themselves. It's the picking hand that causes most problems even if the player doesn't realise it.

    • @talkingbasslessons
      @talkingbasslessons  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not what this is. This is a bass lesson breaking down the riff and looking at it's construction. This is how you should learn bass lines. If you're just looking for tab you're in the wrong place. Pretty much any bass teacher of note will hate the use of tab.

    • @FernandoDornelles4321
      @FernandoDornelles4321 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@talkingbasslessons ok, i don't get why people would hate tabs, they work just fine for me, but i'm aware they are for "amateurs" i don't care, i just wana play, but anyway, your video helped me, i would just prefer to have the tabs on the description, but whatever...
