That was the coolest bandsaw project I've ever seen. And it came out great. Love that you didn't let the setbacks prevent you from finishing your experimentation. Terrific job.
Thank you and that's great to hear! The bandsaw, big or small, is one of my favourite machines. There's so much you can do and TH-cam is a great source for small project ideas (bandsaw boxes, scoops, etc.).
Thanks again! I think my inspiration came from another lesser-known TH-cam video. If I did this again, I might make the bowl wider and more shallow. Glad you like it. :-)
Really interesting project to watch Thanks for taking the time to video and upload....I'd love to see what tricks you got up your sleeve for lathe work. Dovetails perhaps! :-) Best wishes .Rod.
Olly: very interesting project - very good looking bowl (w/ or w/o bananas). Note to self: I need a bigger band saw! Thank you for sharing ... ---MarkS
Nice - but scary.... :D Take more care on your bandsaw, especially when switching it on. Switch it off when adjusting your parts - I speak out of experience! But nice bowl!
Hi Sean, thank you and I understand what you're saying. This project was born of part-inspiration, part-frustration! The wall shelf that I 'recycled' had been cluttering my workshop for a number of months and, being in a very small space, I was tired of having it around. I wasn't keen on resawing it or anything as I'd used biscuit joints initially. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
My God... I couldnt watch the whole video purely because the way you were using your Bandsaw.. it was so unsafe, you could have killed yourself. Please take some advice on how to use your power tools URGENTLY before you seriously injure yourself. Honestly I have never seen such a dangerous use of power tools in my life. I hope you dont think im being nasty, because I promise Im not.... just really concerned that you will hurt yourself. ANYONE WATCHING THIS VIDEO, DO NOT FOLLOW THIS EXAMPLE
I've been through college, I've worked in several different environments and I've always been confident in the way in which I've used tools and machinery. If I'm not, I won't do it. However unsafe you may feel my methods were, I can promise you that I've seen much worse elsewhere.

wow that turned out really nice! Cool video! Maybe I'll try that one day when I have built a bigger band saw...
That's beautiful!
I love the jig you used to turn the wood.
Paul Angeli Thank you and thanks for watching, Paul. :-)
Nice Video. Just ordered my bandsaw today.
Very excited to start some projects!!!

First band saw bowl I have seen. Well done!

Thanks, Mark, I'm glad you liked it.
Thank you. It was inspired by another video I saw of a guy making one from a log... The only thing I didn't have was a log! :-)
Thanks, Cosmas! I look forward to seeing you build that bandsaw! ;-)
Thanks, Dougie. It was more a case of trial and effort. I cut the original lime bowl at 10º but then decided to cut the oak one at 15º.
Hehehe, dovetails on the lathe - now, that sounds like a challenge!! :-D Thanks, Rod.
Very nice Olly, Very nice.
Thank you, Jim. I reckon you could achieve something similar by cutting shallow bowls and gluing them on top of one another?
Very nice bowl, subscribed!
Thank you very much! :-)
Nice job Olly. I just have a small band saw. Just 3.5" cut.

Interesting. I've heard of bandsaw boxes, but not bowls. Nice job on yours.

Good job Olly. If I tried that on my bandsaw I think the blade would drift all over the place! Regards Barry
Sweet looking bowl. Good job!
Joshua Luther Thanks, Josh! For your comment, for watching and also for sharing on Twitter. :-)

Take care
Mike
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! :-)
Thanks, Barry!
Hi, what band saw are you using?
Hi, it's a Startrite 401e with 16in capacity. Hope this helps.
Nice bandsaw. What kind is it?
truebluekit Thanks, it's a Startrite 401e, if that helps.
Thank you, Liam. Ah, yes, I remember seeing that a while back. My other thought was some kind of banana-shaped bowl!
Another great project. Thanks
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you like it! :-)
Very nice! Clever method.
Nice - but scary.... :D Take more care on your bandsaw, especially when switching it on. Switch it off when adjusting your parts - I speak out of experience! But nice bowl!
Thank you, that is sound advice. Complacency can be a major cause of accidents our power tools and machinery.
Totally agree with you.. I was shocked
another nice project olly, thats my downfall i dont have a great mathamatical mind to work out all those angles etc,,,dougie....
Thank you very much! :-)
Great looking bowl but I just couldn't live with myself wasting all that original timber stock.

+Olly Parry-Jones Well good to see that you made use of timber and made into something beautiful.
Thank you. :-)
Hahaha, thanks Mike! ;-)
all this work... for a flower pot.
