I bought one of these a few years ago my charging handle is a radian raptor that came from the factory which I find to be nice and my trigger is smooth. No complaints here.
Yeah they use to come with radian raptor charging handles and the barrel use to be stainless steel and I’m not sure but I think the bolt may even be different now and idk if there more or less than they use to be but they better be less or close to the same cuz they kinda just added cheaper parts and a different barrel material.
$2,099 for msrp is mighty steep for what is basically just a mil-spec rifle. The only real nice part is the barrel being CHF & Chrome lined. The handguard doesn't seem too special as well. I struggle to find the extra $1,100 dollars in value on this outside of it being a Barrett rifle.

Yeah I don't pay extra for badges. I feel exactly the same way about the Daniel Defense and other premium brands. I have a Smith & Wesson Sport and an IWI Zion. Also have about a dozen PSA builds. They all shoot great... No regrets.
I have a Barrett Rec 7 DI. Bought mine in 2020 for like $1700~ new. It’s a fantastic gun with the time I have on it. It cycles super fast with the Timney Calvin Elite trigger and Hypertap break I have on it. I can also get consistent hits out to 600 yards from a bipod using 55gr M193 ball. I haven’t shot it further than that, but 600 yards is more than enough for an AR-15. If I wanna go further I’ll grab my AR-10 or bolt guns
a techbro at my LGS recently fell victim to their shenanigans. paid full MSRP+extra for a DDM4V7 and dropped a down payment for a massively marked up ACOG
Daniel Defense doesn’t even hire engineers screw that clownshow. A PSA is equally reliable to your daniel defense. There is not a single special thing about those rifles besides their rail, which Geiselle does better…
1400 bucks and over for sure. LWRCI sells their full ambi internal piston for $1500. Granted it is not chrome lined but it is CHF with a nitride barrel. I don’t know a single person that has a transferable machine gun though so they will be just fine with the nitride barrel. Steer clear of this one for sure at this price or just get a Daniel Defense RIS3 with ambi lower and CHF CL barrel…
Yeah, It actually has a gas block held in place by a screw down collar similar to a honey badger or KAC sr15. So that is cool. This guy did a pretty bad job of selling the product and explaining how it stands out.

If I wanted a top tier MilSpec rifle id go BCM or FN for FAR cheaper. If I wanted a high end Di (with objectively meaningful upgrades, no gimmicks) id go LWRC, still for cheaper... They should be price competitive with BCM & Colt, not LWRC & FN. The only reason DD is priced that high is their marketing, which Barrett cant touch.
y'know, i think aero and psa make a gun just like this. Some of those psa's have FN cold hammer forged barrels. BCM is the next step up but you really don't have to spend any more than that. I really don't see why this is newsworthy.

Nowadays any AR "weapon system" over $1400 should have full ambi controls. Maybe even $1200 and up.

I bought this rifle 2020 for 1200 and it came with a vortex red dot. It is a very good and extremely accurate rifle, but I wouldn't pay double for it.
