    What I like most about your videos is seeing the relationship you have with your father. Money cannot buy what you have.

    Working all day, and staying upbeat to make a good video takes allot of effort. You are doing an excellent job. I hope your family appreciates the great job you are doing. I'm near the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. Allot of rocks but only need 2 1/2 acres per pair. Keep Rolling!

    I'm from northwest Iowa, we bought a new tractor near you, we thought we had it bad, when we crossed the river into south Dakota we realized how bad you had it out there, lots of prevent plant around here. We had a lot more planted then you guys, its wet out there, we only run about 600 acres, we are luckier then we thought

    Great Plains has a similar arrangement but is a crank you crank it 40 something times and weigh the seed it is a real pain

  • @tritron5519
    @tritron5519 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do you use double tires but then these narrow like in the cotton harvest? Sorry for my lack of knowledge, im from Europe, we dont use tyres that small unless we‘re spraying herbicide (with single tires). When we need to get as much power to the ground as possible we use wide double tires or just wide tires.

    • @SonneFarms
      @SonneFarms  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These tires are set up for 30 inch rows, and if they were bigger they would drive on the row. When planting this would increase compaction on where we plant and also if we are doing tillage or planting into cornstalks we would always be driving on old cornstalks sticking up which wears our tires a lot more. So all in all we have smaller tires to stay in between the rows. Thanks for the question.

    • @tritron5519
      @tritron5519 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sonne Farms thank you, I didnt notice that the tractor is driving between rows with chaserbin. I just know these narrow tires when they are used to drive over life crop, not when harvested or at planting/cultivating

    Why sorghum in stad of corn,greatings from the Netherlands

    • @SonneFarms
      @SonneFarms  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, we know we are going to cut it for silage, and the seed cost per acre is about $70-80 less when we use sorghum instead of corn.

    Do you farmers not know about tile drainage in the US I see so many videos of land that should be tiled

    • @SonneFarms
      @SonneFarms  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do know about it. It is super expensive and faced with the decision to wither buy a new piece of land or drain tile, we would rather buy the land because you can tile drain anytime, but there isn't always close ground for sale

    • @geo52041
      @geo52041 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SonneFarms When I bought my farm in Central Ontario I had two crop failures and faced the decision to either tile it or sell it. I tiled the land 30 years go and it was the best decision I ever made.But tile is now $900 /acre up here. It was a lot less when I did mine. Tile pays every year but you have to own it to do it. We can get 10 year tile loans here through the government. The biggest challenge is to get a good outlet and most of your landscape looks real flat. So not sure where you can a good fall to make it work properly

    • @SonneFarms
      @SonneFarms  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@geo52041 Yea the flat land is an issue, a 10 year lone would help a lot

    • @geo52041
      @geo52041 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SonneFarms It cost me $10,000 to get n outlet and my neighbour $27,000 to get an outlet.And the municipality cleans it out when needed and bills it back to the land owners based on their asessment.The tile loan is though the municipality but backed by the province of Ontario.With a ten year loan it pays for itself right away
