This is very touching. I'm also Cantonese and sometimes I feel like people from my UK school treat me differently because I'm Asian. They don't exactly bully me or anything so I guess I'm lucky. But they kinda treat me sometimes like I wasn't there or sometimes my friends tell me they talk behind my back. I guess I can't really blame people who knows everyone in the class but me. I'm always really shy and don't talk much in class, even with my friends. So I guess people just kinda forgets I'm there. But it's not true. I got so much I wanted to say and tell them. I really want to make friends with everyone but my English was not that good. And after a while, even though my English is a bit better now, I kind of lose some confidence. When I do want to talk, I feel like people would just find it weird because they had gotten used to me being a Chinese kid who doesn't speak good English. There are also people who doesn't know I'm not good at English and think I'm just a weirdo who doesn't talk. I guess things had become better now. I talk more to my friends. Although sometimes I feel left out because my friendship group is quite big and some of my friends aren't as close to me and won't talk to me. Sometimes in the class, one of my friend who I'm not that close with would make all the inside jokes with my closer friends. I try to join sometimes but I'm no good with making English jokes. I try to just talk about what I would normally say and they'd find it boring I guess and start talking about all the stuffs that I don't know about. And my not so close friend sometimes ignores me which makes me feel worthless. Despite all these. I always look on the positive sides. But... idk. I just feel like I am not really part of them. Though they are probably the only people who take me in the most. They're not as bad as I've made them sound here. There are a lot of time when we share friendship. Still, I just feel like some of them don't understand me and treat me like a real friend.
So how/why did your family move to Northern UK area? Were you born and raised there? My family moved here from another country as well. BTW your accent is so cute!

my grandpa passed away😢 I really miss him... he passed away when i was in London... i never got to say goodbye, but when we went back to visit hes grave and when it was night time i went to bed and i saw him in the house looking around the house.
