I think Lif is an alternate future version of Alphonse, whose world died, and he has to sacrifice our Alphonse to bring it back. His critical quotes definitely fit this too.

I like how IS decided to drives FEH to darker atmosphere, cuz that's new to me and I like it.

Have you heard Surtr speak? Did you see Laegjarn or Gunnthrá's deaths? Book 2 was pretty crazy already
@@djsercy5879 I have, and it's a bit much on it's own, yeah, but death like that is common place in a franchise like this. Lemme throw this out here for comparison: Sibling incest, mass executions, Generational blood feud, Forced sexual relations, Corpse mutilation, Excessive racism and hate leading to the point of American Civil War levels of casualties in terms of national populations, etc. Granted the death of certain characters is hard to bear, but That's just the tip of the iceberg.
More on the subject of Laegjarn and Gunnthra, Yeah, it was brutal. The whole story is brutal. The only Nilf royalty that lived is the Prince and the young girl. Muspell as a kingdom is effectively screwed as Plot killed the two people who, in my opinion, had the capacity to run it, and Loki has run off to Embla for now. So this 2nd Book resulted in more or less, it's debatable, the crippling of two realms. This is like Germany and Japan at the end of WW2 for something of crude comparison.

Fire Emblem Heroes was pretty lighthearted at the beginning, and then Veronica tries to kill the summoner, we realize the blood curse on Veronica and Bruno, and that Bruno had already tried to kill both Askr royal siblings and then himself when he couldn't. Then Surtr shows his ugly mug and the story becomes way darker. Then we get Fjorm offering herself as a human sacrifice, Gunnthrá and Laegjarn's cruel deaths (I know, Sigurd, Flora and Rinea say "Welcome to the club", but that doesn't make it less brutal), and, as a kingdom, Muspell is fucked because the king and the first princess are dead, and the second princess, an extreme doormat, gets crowned queen without knowing how to even think for herself, let alone rule a war torn kingdom... And now, Fire Emblem goes metal, kills Sharena in the cinematic intro of Book 3 and Alfonse gets cursed and will die in 9 days. And we're just in Chapter 3 of 13... It's amazing how incredibly dark the story has become comparing it to Book I...

The way Thrasir is displayed on the poster in comparison to Hel makes her seem like a potential puppet master.
Doubt it. She is just a revived corpse, and typically those don't become puppet masters unless their name is Madara Uchiha, and even then, he wasn't quite a puppet master.

What that is I don't know, maybe it just means she will play some relevance in figuring out how to save Bruno and Veronica from their bloodline's fate.
While I'm not sure about puppet master, I do agree that her placement on the poster does seem to imply something more than just another general to defeat. Lif's placement is rather straightforward but her placement seems very ominous.

We're travelling through the Nine Realms of Norse lore. Book 1 was Midgard, Book 2 was Niflheim and Muspelheim, Book 3 was Helheim and Book 4 is Alfheim.
It would stand to reason that Asgard would be the final destination. Which means we're not reaching it until Book 6 at the earliest, cuz there's still giants to go through.

This theme now convinced me, given the recent Book 3 events, that Lif is Alfonse from the future.
*"Everything to bring a dead world back to life"* : We saw in Chapter 7 that the place Alfonse and his crew are exploring is very, VERY similar to Askr. The difference being that there is nobody there, hence "dead world", back to life to contrast with the real Askr.
*"Only WANT ONE FUTURE only WANT ONE WORLD"* : The sole presence of the word future might imply that Lìf is trying to change the future according to what HE wants.
*"Sacrifice another self"* : I think this part pretty much sells it. Another self could only refer to sacrificing Alfonse. Not to mention that Lìf wears a mask.
Also, the fact that Eir seems to be familiar with the Askr-look alike place. And the flower too, being Sharena's favorite type of flower. It might even imply that the Sharena dying in the trailer isn't the Sharena we know, but Lif's Sharena who died, and Lif is trying to "throw it away" in order to change what happened.
The only problem I have with this theory is the existence of Lif's weapon : Sokkvabekkr. Where did it come from ?

From what I think, Sökkvabekkr might be Alfonse’s Fólkvangr corrupted or tainted by Hel’s power or by some form of evil power. But this comment of yours definitely makes me think.

It's pretty rare to see any sort of official entertainment media dare to use metal as the choice for music (Doom aside), but I absolutely approve. Props to Fire Emblem and Nintendo for that. I'm sure few people expected it when they watched the trailer but as a metal fan it sold me instantly.
Even myself who isn't the biggest on metal, the use of it sold me instantly and I loved every second of that trailer and love every second of that song now, really hoping we get more of these dark vibes from Nintendo in the future.

I hear the words "could this be it?" as "LET this be it:" it makes more sense since the song is basically Líf telling his motivations and he doesn't seem to be questioning his motives he is CERTAIN of what he has to do, Sacrifice another self to bring a dead world back to life.

Seriously coming back to this and listening to it makes me miss FEH for a bit...then I remember how hard it fell off directly after this arc. Seriously went from a very serious story about the end of the world, alternate versions of the Main cast that went evil because of a bad end timeline and fighting literally the incarnation of death itself...to then go to fairyland and try not sleep to death :/
Not to mention how unfair the game started to get both with it unit drops, mission difficulty and how hard it went into paying for units, before I could earn enough to spin for different units with a good amount of time to get limited ones to suddenly only getting crap repeat ones and only able to roll a few times. What is that usually called, powercreep I think? Regardless I pine for the story that could've been but then what can I expect from a gacha game in the end :/

@@rayquazadinosaur3732 Something to be expected. The entire book began when Henriette gave them a censer and she said she didn't give them the right stuff in it. So, in short, Book IV started with Alfonse, Sharena, Anna and Kiran on an acid trip and it ended in them ending that trip.
It's so disheartening how little of this song you actually hear in-game during a battle.
The official title for both versions of this song is "Fallen" (at least in Japanese).
FINALLY! I've been waiting for this to come out since the trailer!
Honestly I thought Book III wasn’t gonna be that great, but after that whole short cinematic with Líf and Alfonse and how they’ve had this song hinting towards the direction of the story, IS has definitely stepped up their story-telling game, damn.
It's 2022, and this theme is ever more relevant.

Never occurred to me to take the lyrics literally. At first I thought those flashes in the trailer were glimpses of the story to come. It never occurred to me to think it was Lif and his pain told in the song. I expected it to be a song of sacrifice to restore the world of Hel, but the lyrics aren’t “the dead world” but “a dead world”
Judging from the new Chapter and his anger with Eitri, Alfonse is slowly becoming Lif.
When I listened to this, damn this gets me into war with FEH.
The lyrics really make sense. Lif has to kill everyone in our Askr in order to his Askr back, hence the song going, “Only want one future, only want one world” and “Sacrifice another self.” That’s really cool how they did this.
This song has a whole new meaning now thanks to that new book 3 movie!
