    Hello from England. A local lady is selling seedlings at £1.50 each so I wanted to see what the plants and flowers are like. Thought about putting it as a spot plant in my front garden which is laid to shingle. It is useful that it likes drought conditions as I rarely water the plants at the front, but have been lucky so far with the plants already there. Narines, pieries, fushia, and a few others too. Maybe will get a couple of these Gazinias to put out there when they are a bit bigger. Thank you for this post.

    Thank you. I have gazanias this year by my mailbox. They are still doing well. I will probably try to save some seeds for next year.

    Hi - Great video! Question.... I've started Gazania's by seed in small cells. two to a cell. They're about 1' tall with i set of leaves right now. At what point should I transplant to larger containers?

    When dead heading do you just take the flower off,or do you cut the stem off from the bottom? Thanks

    • @SpokenGarden
      @SpokenGarden  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there! Good question. Follow the stem down to it's point of attachment and make your cut just above that point. This could be right above the plant crown, and that's fine. 👍😉😀

      Hi Jack! 👋 Thank you for watching and asking your question. It is pretty late and the best time is to start seeds in the spring, but ... you could try and see what happens. It would be very interesting to see if they germinate and grow. If you decide to do it, definitely let us know how it goes. 💪😉👍

    I love gazanias. But i lost 2pots due to unknown factor.. Do they love the rain? I observe they slowly wilt i try saving it by planting thru division but i failed. 😭

    • @SpokenGarden
      @SpokenGarden  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Vilma! 👋 Thank you for watching and for your comment and question. 😃 The slow wilting seems like they could have been getting too much water. Gazania's like more to be watered similar to pelargoniums (zonal or ivy geraniums) where they like their soil to dry a bit between waterings. So, if you can help with letting their soil dry just a bit between waterings, they will do much better. If you are to get lots of rain, you could move them to cover so they aren't in the rain and let their soil dry a bit. Hope this helps! 😊👍

    in my climate gazanias are prenial. can they be propagated in water?

    • @SpokenGarden
      @SpokenGarden  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Laura! 👋 Thank you for watching and for commenting. Oh, you are soooo lucky they are perennials where you live! Nice! For propagating in water, that is a great question. We haven't taken cuttings of gazania yet, we can't speak to water cuttings from our own experience. We do feel inspired now to try gazania cuttings in water. 😉 Oh yes, this will be further thought about for a future video. Thank you for putting that out there! 👍😃

    My gazeia plants are whithered and become blackened no more flowers from plants

    • @SpokenGarden
      @SpokenGarden  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Saima! 👋 Thank you for watching and we hope our response reaches you with happier plants. Sorry to hear your plants are withering and blackening. This could be from overwatering, but also could be from a rot that has developed. If your plants have been overwatered, they will become stressed and flowering will slow down or cease while this stress continues. The overwatering can also lead to a secondary cause of plant stress, which is a rot or powdery mildew of the plants leaves, stems, and crown, from the excess water. Try to lessen the amount of water you are giving your plants and before watering, check the soil around your plant to see if it is still wet or is drying. If dry, then go ahead and water, but if still wet, don't water at that time. Also, grow these plants in well-draining soil so they don't sit in watery, mucky soil too long. If possible, try to prune out any of the blackened leaves and stems, but if the whole plant is affected, you won't be able to and your plant might not be able to be saved. Sorry to have to tell you all this, but hopefully you can lessen watering, check for well-draining soil, and remove any blackened, dying plant tissue. Hope that helps! 😃

      How do we determine if we bought trailing ones or the bush? Or is it just plant it and find out? Lol

      I'm pretty sure they do although I didn't see one doing it. I sprayed it with that Anti rabbit spray and since then I haven't lost any gazanias.
