This started good but the last 10 mins ruined things for me. This one cut the silly military and evil 2nd ML plot which is good but also without it, ML ambiguousness about their relationship feel more scummy than justified for protection… the end make it look like ML never plan on being with her officially and really did just treat her like a side chick he loves but won’t commit to for status issue. If it wasn’t discovered that she’s the one he had the family engagement with in the end, then what would their relationship become… 😅 idk for the leads chemistry this one is FIRE and I actually really enjoy their relationship up until the end (bc I was expecting the similar plot at the end to justify ML secrecy). Throughout the drama, They explain misunderstandings more clearly to each other but the plot kinda lose steam in the last 30 mins or so. In other versions, ML is involved in a dangerous situation and that’s why he can’t commit emotionally…. Here it looks like they set that up with the 2ML rant about him but that didn’t go anywhere. Here they remove that undercover plot line which I don’t mind bc I think it overly complicated things instead of focus on the relationship. BUT in that case, they should have used a different scenario to bring up the tension and show ML willing to commit to her without external convenience and doesn’t care about status issue but he had his reasons for not confirming the relationship. But they didn’t do that. Instead the ending felt too rushed. They went from a hidden secret relationship and unable to even say they like each other to all of the sudden found out FL’s mom was ML’s mom best friend and they had a childhood engagement so no more obstacles and now they’re together…. ML can’t even say he loves her in the end. Just barely describe it…. Like dude what… so this entire time you’re branding the relationship as a secret not bc you want to protect her or have a reason, it was just not convenient and you have low EQ??? Idk it makes ML goes from sweet to scummy in that last few minutes for me. It’s so anti climatic and also make ML looks ridiculous. He’s fhe one with all the power but he didn’t make her feel secure. He would say things like don’t have feelings for me and dangling a business marriage in front of FL and made her a secret. Without a proper reasoning like the other versions, it felt like ML was just treating her like a mistress he kept on the down low. It cheapen the entire 2+ hours we spent enjoying their relationship. At least eith the other version, he had a reason and his engagement was just a cover and was never going to happen for real. Here, that was only resolved bc the mom found FL. So was ML never going to commit to her on his own accord? wtf is this. That’s not a love story, that’s a scummy man who just happen to get his way.
What they should have done is keep the evil 2ML side plot bc it also make her brother hospitalization make sense. And use it as a way to test ML feelings and show us that ML loves her and willing to be with her officially but he hide their relationship bc he was trying to find the truth about the brother’s accident and her family business issue or something like that. It can wrap back to 2ML being the mastermind and they can lure 2ML out together. Then after they went through life and death, they confess their feelings. Then they can bringing the mom reveal for the final bow on top and be together without further obstructions. That way the ppl left in their life were all nice to them and the evil one is out of the picture. ML motivations are justified. Perfect ending. Instead of that, they make this into some dude just wanted to keep an underground lover and didn’t think she deserve an official relationship but he got lucky that FL’s mom was revealed to be his mom’s bestie. 7/10 bc the majority of the show was really nice and grounded… it just didn’t know how to reach a climax and ending to make the leads relationship look good. Instead jsut ambiguous and weird.
Innocently and naively is ok but stupid is incurable... she already sold herself to a leading man and yet she played hard to get. Its harder to enjoy this drama because of the leading lady stupid character.🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Due to the height difference between ML (Liu Yu Hang) & FL, it makes me want to watch until the end.. It's just that the cigarette smoke makes me a little less interested.. There are weaknesses but they are fixed by the good looks & beauty of the supporting actors.. The quality of the acting & storytelling can be improved..

There’s a similar one with Peng Yao and Xi Er Li. It’s good to know the plot before watching that one bc it can feel confusing due to lack of expositions
