Hi Lillian: Some people hammer rings with a soft mallet to stiffen the wire. I tried some designs with a double wire but they are more complicated. I'll try to do a video to show you soon. I bought the red pliers 30 years ago at a hardware store. I believe they were in the fishing department. They are no longer available but are many good brands on the market including Tronex and Zebra.

I used Artistic Copper wire which is more on the soft side, but not dead soft.
