ACTUALLY...Breathing is a Very Important PART of Dance..not mentioned much in Class.. For instance.. if U INHALE right @ the beginning of Ur Pirouettes..this will add STABILITY to Ur core and U won't be so "wobbly".. Good Luck practicing!!.. ✌️❤️😎👍👍👏👏👏
Thank you so much as a female ballet dancer with high jumps I have been taking interest in expanding my jumping capabilities and this helped a lot thank you!
The slow motion was great as it shows how and where to position your body. It's also great to see that even as a great ballet dancer you can learn more and improve your skills.
Good to hear from fellows who can do these so well, and not just from one person. Most of us have little opportunity to get such advice. Plus I would be to intimidated to even ask, me and my worthless pride! So thanks.
Thank you for these videos! There are so many TH-cam channels with videos from female dancers but it is so refreshing to have videos for us men who dance!
I love seeing teaching. Thanks for doing these videos. I know these are from some years back. I recently started watching Harper's channel; which is spilling over to seeing the work of others. (I am a retired educator, not a dancer.)
For the stretching your head up and feet down, I had a teacher once that was big on visuals so she told us to imagine a string that runs from our head out our toes and God was pulling on one end and the devil was pulling on the other. It's strange I know, but it's actually extremely helpful. It was for me at least.

@@GeorgeOu You da man George! Picture is helpful. Have you commented on other videos of this move being done by professionals not like it is in the textbook? Got some Deja Vu.
WOW!! Such a great video! You are going to have many subs. Each video you do is better than the last. I love the way you film and edit the videos. The layout is informative and I learn so much!! Thank You! Keep up the good work!
it has been over a year! I don’t want you to hurt yourself but it would really be amazing to see you do the 540 and then explain your training process in the next video!
Hi. Can you help me with what your guest says at 1:31? What is the name of the exercise he does, first each corner, then half and then full turn? Thanks
Hey! can you get the company girls involved maybe something about being more comfortable turning en pointe and balancing? For example i am really tall and have beeb dancing for about 15 years and im dancing in a company but even though i feel comfortable turning en pointe. So i would love to learn some tips on that. Thanks!
It's never too late! I started when I was 16 (22 now so 7 and a half years training so far) and I take beginner and intermediate classes at Grand Rapids Ballet School now! 😁
Yes they are. Chun Wai is a principal at Houston Ballet, which is a world class top notch company. Daniel is now a rapidly rising young star at English National Ballet.
They make it look sooo easy..which is NOT! 😄 the guy in the shorts has The most AMAZING legs..I could not ,not say ..they are sooo distracting 😄😉 in my next life I pray I have legs like his 😊✌
Rosie Brown Hey, even if those or other men's jumps aren't in the standard female classical rep doesn't mean you can't learn or try... Many of my pro ballerina friends can do double cabrioles, Saut de Basque, assemble en tournent (actually useful for fancy partnered lifts, see Manon final pas for example), turning switch splits, and of course double tours. Sometimes cleaner than some of the guys.... (Shhh! Don't tell the guys! Haha) Katherine Healey who had her career in the '80s had very nice double Saut de Basques. She used them in Corsaire and maybe Etudes if memory serves. Have a look for her on TH-cam. And even if you might not need them often on stage, it's always cool to pull them out in class and surprise your male colleagues.
I’ve had a choreographer who had females do tours and suat de bausqes, in fact, there’s a girl at my studio who can do a double tour far better than me!
Kathy Schultheis I think I’ve figured out the answer to my own question, since no ballet guy seems to actually know the answer, or able to explain - “540” refers to 540 degrees, which is the number of degrees you would cross if you completed one-and-a-half revolutions in the air, with your body, before landing. 360 degrees is one full turn. Add another 180 degrees to that for an additional half-turn, and you get 540...makes sense to me.
They make it look as easy as breathing

Fifty times a day double tour en l'air ?? 😥
My ballet master always told me tours should be slow, clean and clear, not fast
Depends on style. Both look good

At 00:30 in the video, what is that move called that the girl is doing when she passes by him? ...

I don't even do ballet. Why am I watching this?
What's a 540? It looks like what you're calling a 540 used to be called a " Rivoltade."
Want to know too
It’s called a 540. Rivoltade is something else
ShadoGuppy But then why is it called that? “540” isn’t even French, which all of ballet terminology is.
So maybe we should just drop the French altogether and from now on, refer to double tours en l’air as “720”!
