I love how people try to downplay how good this park is. Like kings island is my home park and it makes kings island feel like a carnival. I go to parks for coasters not theming or “atmosphere” the only major flaw to this park is they do not have many family rides it’s pretty much all thrill rides
Well, from what I’ve heard, coasters at this park close constantly. Like, they consistently have SEVERAL coasters down a day is what I’ve heard. I clicked on this video actually bc I was curious if he would mention that bc I’m going to California for the first time in early April, and we have a lot of the parks out there on our list
@@zachmoore7274 well that’s because of the Santa Ana winds Southern California is getting hammered I honestly wouldn’t go out there until all these wildfires have been contained the area Magic Mountain is in is called Santa Clarita and it is vulnerable.
What time of year did you go to have all the coasters operating? We have a California trip planned in early April (2 days at magic mountain) and we’ve heard many people say how many coasters are down. Even right now, I check queue times and it lists about 6-7 major coasters down
I was there during the last week of March in 2024 (It was not a spring break). We got very lucky that everything was open. Unfortunately, the park doesn't post their ride closures in advance, so if you are going in off peak seasons/non-school breaks, you just have to hope for the best! I hope a few more of their rides are open by then, and have fun!
This is currently my favorite Six Flags park. I actually like the coaster lineup at this park more than I do at Cedar Point. But do I like this park as a whole more than Cedar Point? Well, I am hoping to get to both this summer, so I'll let you know afterward.
On our visit, they had a lot of coasters operating with just 1 train. It was busy, long lines. I don't know if this is their standard practice, or, in their minds, if they wait for summer craziness to run all the trains available, which I assume increases labor and operating costs. Still, it would have been nice to have those longs lines reduced, especially on X2, which was usually 90-120 minutes. Maybe someone with more Magic Mountain experience can chime in on this comment and let us know.
If you are distinguishing between amusement parks and theme parks then it's the best in California. But if you're including more traditional theme parks then I don't think this comes close to the quality at Disneyland. But that speaks more to my preferences. I really like Magic Mountain. For what it is it's great. And for a Six Flags park it's one of the more scenic parks in the chain and some areas genuinely look quite good. It's my personal favorite Six Flags, even above Fiesta Texas because it's ride lineup is so good. But for me, a park just isn't well rounded if they put all of their focus on their coaster collection. It's collection is phenomenal. No doubt about it. I rank it's collection second behind Cedar Point and even thought that prior to Steel Vengeance it had the overall superior collection. But even a great coaster collection isn't enough to make it the best overall park in California. Again, in my opinion.
Completely agree! I was distinguishing between theme parks and amusement parks, but I can see that I didn’t make that 100% clear. I, too, prefer Disneyland (and Knotts too), but for coasters Magic Mountain does it best
I hate how they have only a single flash pass reservation for X2 and not the other ones. I mean last year it was unlimited reserves now it's just one. Hope they change it back to unlimited in 2025
Hey! May I use some footage from this video with credit?
I’d like to visit the park at the December first week
Is it crowded at that time ?
I live in Brazil , is it open until December 4th ?

Btw, kings island was my home park growing up too and it’s amazing. The only park I enjoy more is my new home park, cedar point lol
@@zachmoore7274 the only ride that’s always down is Superman and X2 will be down if it’s windy
@@JJJJ-he8bz according to queue times, there’s like 7 down right now lol

@ that’s good to hear then. Hopefully early April is still considering spring break for them and they keep rides operating lol
@@zachmoore7274 I would imagine that there will be more rides open then that now, two weeks into January
@ yeah I hope so. Thanks!

Magic Mountain has horrible operations and a weaker park atmosphere I think cedar point is still ahead of it by a fair amount
