    It really is a great all-around little amp. It sounds great at bedroom levels and more than keeps up when I'm jamming with my buds. I love the shit out of my Micro-CL

    that's generally for people using active basses. active basses have a higher output and can drive the amp a little hard, so they would use the -15db input. however, there is no harm in plugging in a passive or active bass into either input.

  • @eyeofamon

    What was the thought process behind eliminating the gain control? That's the most important feature of an Ampeg bass amp, IMO. Seems like there's plenty of room above the Aux In to put a level control there and put gain back in the control section.

    its an option that has to do with the type of bass you are using,
    i.e. for an Active bass -15Db , 0db for passive ones

    I just got this one from a pawn shop today. I wanted something smaller but still has a lot of wattage, and it certainly does! The highest I've had it was level 4, and can't go beyond that, it might damage my hearing!!! I also have a 450 watt Eden bass amp, then a 50 watt Marshall with effects. On this Ampeg I'm using a RP100a effects box with a Wawa pedal. This little amp sure can put out the sound!!!

    even though i am primarily a guitarist, i really like bass amps for their clarity and true tonality. would the micro cl be a good choice for jazz/progressive jazz guitar with single coils? i also use baritone tuning and sometimes Bass IV tuning.

    • @punman5392
      @punman5392 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For Jazz? Any bass amp would probably sound good. Bass amps are great for clean tones as they have to be able to amplify sound with as little distortion as possible

    I liked the video. Missing though - the back panel. What are the connections on the back? The still shots (pics) I’ve seen - when zoomed in are so fuzzy it’s hard to figure out without going to the internet to pull up a user’s guide. Wondering if adding a single 15 cabinet to the set would provide a bit more bottom in, when playing a small venue that the PA doesn’t afford an input for bass. Thanks for a clean & straight video.👍🏻

    • @alecjackson2318
      @alecjackson2318 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      To the best of my knowledge, that is from his ipods volume being too loud and pushing the amp too far. It is the amp saying,” too much quiet that down a bit.”

  • @dannychane

    Hi Ampeg, I have git two questions:
    1.) why is this Amp not available with a Gain knob?! (Expect of the the 1000+ $ heavy tube version)
    2.) why is this Amp not available as a 200 watt version (or higher) as the Micro VR?!
    I mean, if I wanna bother my neighbours, it has too be loud enough for rehearsal or a Punk Rock Gig, come on :'D
    100 watt is too loud for home practise, but too weak for rehearsal. I don't see the point.

  • @MrHirsuto
    @MrHirsuto 11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Problem with Ampeg Micro Stack CL
    second (yes, you read right, this is the second one!) micro stack cl (ampeg) that I´ve tried with the same problem: crack sound
    Not a clip or overdrive type of clip, but a crack like when you set a digital signal too hot. like a scratchy "dirty pot" type of noise
    Not a pleasant sound.

    I bought one of these and I DO love it but the first time I drove the "custom design drivers" hard for a decent practice they blew. I replaced them for non standard less "ampeg custom design" drivers and it is much better.

      @spentfromnz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@someonewhatever611 Don't be a wowser, underdriving a cab is not going to destroy it. A small amp at volume 9 is no different from a large amp at volume 2 as far as the speakers are concerned.

      Well.. How come there is min and max watts and ohm ratings on cabs?

    • @spentfromnz
      @spentfromnz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@someonewhatever611 There aren't "min and max watts and ohms ratings on cabs". On the cab there is a resistance value (in ohms) that is a static value, not a min/max thing, and a max watts rating because going past it will damage the speakers. There is no minimum watts rating on cabs because, as I said, you can't damage a driver by giving it too little power. There is however a min ohm rating on the head, as too low a resistance will damage the poweramp circuit.

    • @spentfromnz
      @spentfromnz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@someonewhatever611 If you want to be ignorant and continue thinking you can blow something up by sending too few watts to it you sure can ...except that you can't actually. Destroy the tone perhaps metaphorically speaking, but not the hardware.

    Hey, I was just looking at buying a good decent bass amp that wasn't overly expensive, I am seriously considering buying one of these, but I need to know is this going to be loud enough to play a small gig? as I heard on reviews that if you take this anywhere over 5-6 on the master volume the cabinet can't take it. Thanks

    I have a question about bass cab configurations, i have a 4x10 at @ 8ohms and i need to add another cab because i have an 4ohm head, my question is to get good low end which is better adding another 4x10 or a 1x15? I know it's not just that simple but from your experience(anyone can also answer) on a general basis which tends to have better low end. I have never had two cabs i have just used one when i played in a band before

    • @KB200887
      @KB200887 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Even though this question is a few months old, I will reply to it but if you've already gotten an answer, great. Maybe my info will help others who read this and are in the same situation. The right answer depends on what you want to accomplish. The 15 will reach lower Hz but will not push as much air as a 410. And personally tens reach as low a Hz as you need while still having an extra 25in of air moving power. Also the tens will be quicker to response than a 15. That being said if you want a lower sound but are able to compensate with the "floppy" sound of a 15 with your current 410. Then go with that. I had an Ampeg 810 and it went low. And I mean real low with enough air movement to move a house. Some 15s don't suffer from the floppiness but test them out and see what you like. The right answer is always what you like.

    • @1thess523
      @1thess523 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Kevin for that info it really helps, I haven't purchased a second cab and I am glad because I was thinking of the 15in, I don't want the "floppy sound" but a tight low end so I will go with another 4x10 and I see tons of 8x10's played but not many 4x10/1x15. God bless
