    One regret for me, is not waiting till the price drops to pick up specific titles. There are alot of titles that I've picked up on release date, that I didn't watch right away. I should have just waited till the price drop or a sale to pick them up and use that saved money on other titles.

    I don’t really have regrets with the media itself because any of the titles that suck I can resell at some point. One regret that I do have is not keeping up with display and storage needs for said media. There’s only so much room that I have, so I bought a bunch of Tarifold boxes and sleeves to compress the collection a bit for display purposes. The amount of space saved and reclaimed is amazing.

    Thankfully, I haven’t encountered too many of the regrets you have. My one regret, however, is that I haven’t gone region free yet. That’s on the agenda for this year: purchasing a region free BluRay player-mainly because there have been a few movies released on Region B that I would like to have.
    But I haven’t gotten rid of any of my movies unless I have replaced it with a BluRay or 4K. And I have never bought into the hype of anything-mainly because I have tended to find that I usually have not been impressed with something others have hyped. And you won’t catch me blind buying a movie simply because of the label releasing it. Although I have blind bought movies based on a particular actor or director that I have later regretted…

  • @johnpublic7796
    @johnpublic7796 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I regret getting certain box sets that don't display well for me. The Evil Dead Groovy 4K collection is such an example. I got it because when I did, it was cheaper than buying the movies and show separately, but they don't have Army of Darkness, so I had to buy that separately. I'm not big on displaying stuff. I prefer stuff just on shelves way more than fooling with display cases and such.

    Great video Tim ! The multi-region thing is essential I think, although I had a multi-region DVD player back in the day, I only recently got hold of a mult-region Blu-ray player...and it's opened up a lot of doors ! It's something I also should have done a while back (and coincidentally a movie I've wanted to own on Blu-ray for ages but could never play before just arrived today...the US Criterion of "Ghost World" ! hoorah !). I've never sold stuff that I later regretted but I have given stuff away several times (for various reasons) and later wished I hadn't 😞I've also missed out on some Blu-rays I knew I wanted as I waited too long and then when I went after them found they were OOP 😞In some cases the movies I was after eventually got a re-release (or new edition on a different label) but in others I'm still waiting/hoping...I really wish I'd picked up the French Blu-ray of 1997 "Le Bossu/On Guard" for example as it's now been OOP for ages it seems (I'm stuck with a very poor quality DVD). That Indiana Jones set you have is shocking 😞I did manage to skip that one even though I desperately wanted the first three movies...I waited to get them on individual 4K slip versions in the end (but I'd be very happy with those individual steel books too !). I have bought two blu-ray sets "unseen" (I very rarely do blind buys) and part of the reason I haven't watched them yet is I think there may be a good chance I'll regret having bought them ;-) We shall see ! 🙂

      Making mistakes and having regrets is part of being human...as long as you learned something from it then it wasn't a total loss and that in itself is something that can help you move on and not dwell on it or beat yourself up about it too much.

      Tim of 2024 does sell anything anymore, but Tim of 2007 wasn’t so bright. I was a 19-20 when Blu-ray and HD-DVD started and let’s just say lots of people that age are dumb. I made a misjudgment and sold off my entire DVD collection once the HD formats starts. Like I said it’s a regret haha.

They still have done some amazing work though. Well not everything came to DVD. And now I'm so sorry I sold them but especially the 100 Venezuelan ones. I still have like 250 Venezuelan VHS but I can't forget of those 100. American ones? Vinegar releases so much utter trash, for my taste. I only like maybe 1 out of 30 or 40 of their releases, so even less, than Criterion (different kind of snobby trash 😂).
    Love UMDs, because they're basically my favorite MDs in a different shaped cartridge. I wish they released DVD or even HD quality video on MDs, the size allows, if you cut down a UHD disc to that size. How much safer the discs would be, and the package could be much smaller, something squarish, like for CDs, only a little thicker, like cassettes.
