Teach Go Around an Object for Agility, Trick Tests, Rally, Obedience or Fun

This video shows how to teach your dog to go away from you and around a stationary object. You can use a box, bin, barrel, cone, stool etc as the object to send your dog around.
There are several ways to train this exercise - the video shows two techniques.
1) Lure with food in your hand, then switch to using an arm gesture
2) Shape it with a clicker - click as the dog passes the barrel and toss the treat ahead of the dog.
Once your dog understands to go round the barrel, you can add a verbal cue such as Round, or you might want to use a different word for each direction eg Left/Right, Zip/Zap, Anti/Clock, Comebye/Away.
This skill can be used in loads of different ways. For teaching Trick S.1 Go Round - Once in the ANKC Trick Test Rules. For teaching jump wraps in agility. To train straight fronts for Rally. To teach your dog to find Heel position. Or to exercise your dog by sending them to run round a tree and back to you.
