He man you have a great sense and not a afraid of the camera. When you get the songs have the lyrics right there so while you’re listening to it, you can interpret the lyrics to the song. Then you can give your input and be more in depth with your viewers! This is a song but mini short stories a story and especially this particular song right here. You experienced five songs in one! They transition very very well as they’re probably the most articulate and definitely play the most difficult riffs and positions than any other band including Metallica as far as difficulty and talented wise. articulatebecause as the beat is controlled major part of the song the lyrics are deep. The Golden-transition is Middle Eastern.

@@jima6545 It was first called Power Metal until around 1984 when Ride The Lightning came out and some reviewer coined the term Thrash Metal, though Metallica used the word Thrash in the song Whiplash in reference to their music.
@@TheBlackQueen it could be a regional term as well. Per Mustaine in an interview, he credited Motorhead as the first speed metal band both because of the drugs and the music. He described Megadeth as a speed metal band. Thrash metal in my area was more attributed to bands such as Anthrax. Death metal was bands like Slayer. Power metal was more along the lines of Manowar. Doom metal was such as Candlemass. Like I said, perhaps regional?
They called themselves "The worlds state of the art speed metal band" & they weren't wrong.
@@snakeplissken6649 Depending on how early they said that, it's probably because the term Thrash Metal wasn't as popular in the early days of the genre. It was actually first called Power Metal but the term Thrash came about mainly due to Metallica using it in their song Whiplash as well as a review of Ride The Lightning that supposedly coined the term Thrash Metal. Speed Metal is generally not as heavy, just very fast, i.e, Motorhead. As for their claim as "the world's state of the art Speed Metal band", they were the slowest of the big four in terms of overall speed. Slayer was undeniably the fastest and Anthrax was pulling shortly behind them.
Megadeth has some of the most complicated, technical sounding guitar I've ever heard.

Lars can't even play well enough to record a song in ONE shot!! Studio recording engineers hate him because they have to splice takes together to make a song work. On the same interview with Metal Hammer he said he had to teach him some things about drumming. “I thought he was absolutely useless. The very first thing I asked when he started playing was, ‘Does everything start on an upbeat?’ And he went, ‘What’s an upbeat?’ We started telling him about beats. That they have to be an equal length of time between that hit, that hit, and that hit, and you have to be able to count to four before you come in again.”
Lars IS a hack, he sucks...I have heard him screw up during a fucking concert...TWICE. Different concerts. I looked up producers for Metallica, Bob Rock was listed, Rick Rubin was listed along with a few others. Lars WAS NOT LISTED!!!

Rust In Peace was written by god and handed down to Megadeth. It's perfect. Every song is jaw dropping superiority. This level of mastery, skill and technique is what musicians strive to be. I'm actually jealous when I listen to Megadeth.

Holy wars is a two-parts song: The first is about war and Dave Mustaine's point of view about religion, and the second one (after the acoustic break) is about the comic-book character "The Punisher" from Marvel. It's probably on top 5 best metal songs ever composed.

I was a Sophomore in high school when this came out. We lost our minds. It's just a sweet today. That entire album is Gold.
Ahhhh yeesssss.....you have discovered one of THE finest metal bands EVER!!! Like Rush, this rabbit hole goes deep, Dave writes some very deep lyrics and the music is the best!! You got the stank face right off the bat...careful, it might become permanent!! Check out Sweating Bullets...a song about anxiety or another song off the same release, the title track Countdown To Extinction...a song about animals dying out through varies ways. Another awesome song would be Peace Sells...But Who's Buying. The more you get into Megadeth the more you'll like them, NO CAP! Enjoy this ride young man, awesome reaction!
I discovered Megadeth when I was 58 years old. I knew of them But that’s all. I started listening at age 58 and now they’re my favorite band ever.

I'm an older white dude, I love megadeth. For sure. Holy wars is awesome. No doubt. Newer metal bands use 7 8 or even 9 string guitars to get aggressive. Megadeth is a Master class in how to be bad a$# with just 6 strings. That said u should check out..

I have watched Megadeth around 10 times the stage show is fantastic. Amazing group.
I was a teenager when this album first came out. This along with so far so good so what and peace sells...among the most listened to cds in my collection of hundreds.
I was 14 or 15 when it came out and I snuck it into a Church Youth Group outing. Let's just say the Pastor wasn't impressed. I was kicked out less than a year later for being a bad influence.
About the exotic style of that acoustic lick that bridged one of the transitions, Marty Friedman (on lead guitar) contributed some brilliant innovations to the band's song writing when he joined up. Friedman was well studied in middle eastern and Japanese scales and modes as well as neo-classical composition, and I am pretty certain the Spanish style you were curious about is middle eastern influence in the arrangement. I believe it is originally middle-eastern, but of course you will hear the influence of this kind of musical scale all across north Africa to Morocco as as well as in Spanish folk music.

The 2nd part of the song (The Punishment Due) is based on the comic book "The Punisher." That helps give it context. The first part of the song is about wars in the Middle East. It's a bit of a mish-mash of two songs that were combined into one, giving us all this glorious combo!

@Mask Man Music Definitely inspired by that as well. Dave got into a bit of a pickle performing in Ireland, as I recall, which planted seeds for the Holy Wars part of the song.

I love thrash metal and Slayer is my favorite band overall but Rust In Peace may be the greatest thrash album of all time. Lucretia and Tornado of Souls may be the two most underrated songs of all time and are on that album.
This song was wrote about the Catholic/Protestant "Troubled" wars in Ireland. There is youtube vid w/ Megadeth discussing how they got kicked out of Ireland because of it.

Also, that wasn't an Arabic tune, that was a Flamenco tune which is a Spanish style.

Dave wrote this song after starting a riot at a show in N.Ireland. He started the riot after making a comment that angered half the audience & had to be taken away with a police escort in a bullet proof transport. Somebody before the gig told him something political & when he expressed his support during the show that's when the trouble started. He wrote this song in response to finding out about the situation in the country.

Essentially the song is called Holy Wars, because it's about governments going to war with each other in the name of religion; & in some parts he's portraying an assassin in a war.
Fun fact about Megadeth, the vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine is an ex metallica member for people who haven't heard of them before.
He was an original member of Metallica but got kicked because of his addiction and how it was affecting the other members and himself. He's been sober for over 20 years at this point, but if he hadn't of gotten kicked out of Metallica, we wouldn't have Megadeth.

Fun fact, "Megadeth" is a reference to the term "megadeath", which literally means "1 million deaths".
In the context of nuclear warfare, it becomes cumbersome to count the dead individually when you can wipe out entire cities in the blink of an eye, so they came up with "megadeath" as a way of counting the dead by the millions.
Same as we came up with measurements like "light years" because "miles" becomes a meaningless concept at the cosmic scale.
The band is sometimes referred to among fans as "Megadave", in reference to frontman Dave Mustaine's ego. :)
