    I swear you explain everything so well. You can teach someone how to tie freaking shoe laces, if they didn't know how. Thanks for simplifying bantu knots for me. Your video is my new go to guide 😬

    They are called Bantu knots because long back in are culture the Nguni or the Zulu tribe..women with high status in the community used to wear it or do it...just like that long gold necklace u see pple wearing these days..it was a sign of wealth and status ...

    i am from barbados and we call them corkscrews use to do them when we finish washing our hair and dont want to blow dry or for a twistcurl or wear it as is

    • @BellaMecia
      @BellaMecia  7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Same here girl..lol Almost every Sunday my mom would wash my hair and do this style right after but I would always try to unravel it because I thought the curls looked better. Not to mention I always got stares like I was an alien because this style wasn't well known then. She would be so happy to know that I kept it in and rocked it as is..lol

    • @krob9145
      @krob9145 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My grandmother also called them corkscrews. That's what she did with our hair every Sunday morning after she washed it. We were so embarrassed to be seen like that. We'd hide if any visitor showed up and we had corkscrews or there would be tears if one of us was asked to go on an errand to the corner shop then. My grandmother's parents, my great grandparents were from Barbados.

      I'm Caribbean and I haven't heard of either. Though I've had that style before and since it's been four months of me and my natural hair I think its time I learn to style it and this seemed rewarding. Four days with bantu knowts, one with curls. That's five days of no combing. Yay!

      Bella Mecia hello! I've heard that a lot of people with Afro hair do Bantu knots at night so that their curls are more defined. I have wavy hair but really enjoy curls, do you think that if I do it everynight to have curls in the morning, will it be damaging?

    here in Angola bantu knots are called carrapitos, and have been used for several years and it is our greatest protective style, it helps to retain a lot of length

    I heard it called both back thrn Bantu knots. Was a style andcfor those who wanted the wet and way look we would add gel moose and sit under the dryer and you'll get a loose curl or curly look depends on how many you did or if you have natural Silky hair it will give a nice. Body wavy .
