Thank you so much for this info. I have put off a lot of gardening for the last few years now because I’m in east TN (zone 7a or 7b), with all the clay and rock soil, and we get too much rain a lot more often than southern Cali. The rain has caused me nonstop issues, like rot and mold or fungus growth on some of my plants. For the longest time I tried looking up solutions for that, and have not been able to find good sources of info that have been helpful to me yet. So, thank you for putting this out.

My containers always have lots of drainage holes. Except for hanging planters, which are wire with coco liners and therefore drainage champs. I try to use terra cotta as much as I can, but it gets expensive and heavy.
Containers with plants that don’t like too much moisture get pot feet. I have all this to make up for being a bit heavy handed with the watering and hope it is helping now with all this crazy rain! Great video, will have to inspect and fertilize soon.

My 1st try with veg plants in containers in 8a NC. Forecast this week, about every day showers/T-storms!! Yesterday, it was suppose to rain 1pm, I put off watering in am since dirt was moist. It did not rain hard/rather little. This morning my plants were DRY. Freak time! Watered yet T-storm due later. My worry was about root rot during these times being a novice. Plants are under the overhang of roof. HOT days here. Have 9 plants LOL. Toms, cus, squash/zuc, basil healthy w/fruit appearing. Healthy thus far. Each fruit showing are my babies LOL. I guess if I'm worried at some point I'll put granulated organic fert, OR would 5.1.1. fish fert, or?? Best NPK would be helpful. ENJOYED your great video. btw: I'm from rural SanDiegoCo orig. TY

Such a timely video, as I look out at my rainy garden like this 🤷🏽‍♀️. Thanks for the tip on top dressing. It's been 2 weeks since I've fertilized, and I was planning on doing it yesterday. But I usually fertilize w/ a liquid mixture of micronutrients and fish emulsion. I don't typically think of the granular stuff outside of planting and a midsummer boost. But I think I'll definitely be doing that today 👍🏽.

Do a lot of nutrients wash out or is it negligible. It rains here everyday probably about an hour or two in the Caribbean

Man, I miss those West Coast rains... now I’m in the prairies with a short, hot and very dry growing season 😒
Thanks for the tips though, Kevin!

Rain is ok as long as the plants still get the warm (sunlight). Getting the fruits (tomatoes, chillies, eggplants , etc) , however can be really challenging. Nutrition in later case doesn't matter.

My butterbaby squash seedlings just fell over after the rain :( i've repotted them 2 weeks ago and they were growing healthily... until the rain.

I live in Washington state and I was just telling a story about how I cried today standing on a dry spot that’s been a deep puddle and a daily nuisance for the past five months. The experience of seeing it dry up after a few days of no rain and how odd it’d be to live somewhere where you can just casually keep things outside and grass is dry and shoes are clean.

Yeah, I'd imagine up there it's a lot harder to manage

Epic Gardening Haha, a bit. But it’s the price you pay for being constantly surrounded by Tolkien level fantasy land greenery. Totally worth it. Tall moss covered trees and ferns and acres of greenery with mountains in the distance. Wouldn’t have it any other way. ❤️
That’s what I tell myself when I’m slipping through the mud anyways 😂

I’m surprised about citrus not liking a lot of water since Florida gets so much and grows so much citrus

It’s been raining nonstop for a week. My pepper plants have been the worst affected. The leaves have been turning black as if they’ve been burned. Like half the leaves have fallen. Even worse today I noticed some stems full of peppers broke and the top of my zucchini plant broke off.
Edit: Also, it’s not your average rain that you demonstrated. It’s the one that comes down pretty hard. I think that might be hurting the leaves but I have no idea what to do.

We've been having the same here almost 2 weeks of rain. My citrus trees are not doing well. All my other plants are all looking terrible. I think it might be too late to save them. Do I start over or just let it go? 😥😢😞
Love to all from a sad gardener in South Florida ❤️🙏

What about tomatoes in containers? Will it drown them out with heavy rainfall? How long after rainfall would you feed? I've got liquid seaweed , thinking to wait till soil dries out a bit?

Bruh. I just stood at my back door anxiously watching my garden as it got thrashed by rain and wind. Thank goodness I'm a hover gardener so I reapplied fertilizer to the surface. Appreciate the tips!!
