Taylor Sheridan took all the scenes for himself. His ego is way too big. Rip did not act the same in the second part of season five. Sheridan jealous? Me thinks so.

I believe so too. When the rumors about Kevin leaving were first spilled that was the story, creative differences between the two. And then it was changed later to Kevin wanting to move on to other projects but I believe that the creative diffs was the real reason, Taylor is too egotistical & narcissistic to stay behind the camera to let Kevin or any of the other characters receive the spotlight that they were receiving. His limited scenes were not enough, as you said and most of us feel Taylor’s character was not liked, not like any of the other character’s and he could not take it. He limited Rip’s role in the second part, he cut back on Monica’s limited role, the storyline started to be flat, he killed off a very well liked character with Colby’s death(I hated that more than the death of John), he missed the suspense of Sarah and Jamie’s demise by prolonging a torturous death, which would have been much more satisfying, imo. And also I believe that Taylor intentionally limited Rip’s scenes because in real life he has filed a lawsuit against Cole Hauser, something about the name of a coffee which both men are producing outside of the show, the names are similar for both companies so TS is suing CH so there may be some tension on that front and as most of us are saying TS’s character is not likable as a character in the shows or in real life. 😩😠

I agree. His head is about to explode and for no good reason. Rip, Beth, Kayce, Monica and families are what the show has been about with a few others of course. I think Taylor Sheridan needs to take a step back or his greed will ruin it all and no one will watch!

The finale dropped the ball in many ways.
I agree that the Rip Wheeler character was sidelined by a huge amount. With as much as he played respectful of John, he acted like a broken down wimp in terms of how he dealt with it. It was expected that he would be his usual self. Instead, he responded like a pacifist that believed that "violence is never the answer". WTF ??
No mention to Rip that Jaime was responsible for Beth being unable to have kids?
Sheridan comes across as a narcissist that LOVES to look at himself and hear himself talk.
      Where is Lloyd?

Getting an ego, Taylor's had a big ego from the start. He's in most of his shows and he can't act half as good as Rip. I was alright with Monica not saying a lot, it's like she was put in her place. Rip and Beth are the only ones I would want to see in Season 6. I won't be watching The Madison or 1923, I know that for sure. 1923 was boring and slow which caused more boredom. Part 2 of season 5 seemed rushed to me not well thought out but what can you expect from a want-to-be like Taylor.

@@frankthetank2121 , I agree as far as the log house and all the barns, etc. Rainwater could have lived in the house or they could have set it up as a community center for the Indian people. To show respect to the Dutton family because in 1883 John didn't take the land, the government had already taken the land . In fact, in my opinion, the Dutton's fought each generation for the same thing that the Indians wanted, which was protecting the land. The family paid dearly for trying to protect the land so leave the house and buildings out of respect ! No problem with removing the Yellowstone signs . As far as Tate he clearly stated he didn't want it because he felt that it had cost his Grandfather's life. In the end he still will receive a part through his Dad being given back the East Camp ( I think that's what they called it ) . Too bad it couldn't have been written that John & Rainwater put their anger & pride and worked together to save the ranch !

This whole season (part 2) was a shambles. It seemed like Taylor Sheridan just blew it off and what he wrote could have been done in about 2 episodes without Taylor inserting himself into the story line over and over. What could have been expanded to make it so much more interesting (what were the shredded documents?, more into finding the burner phone or that whole investigation into Jamie and Market Equities??, Rip finding out about Beth's hysterectomy?--just so much more could have been developed and finished. Instead it was ego parts for Taylor Sheridan and a middle finger to John Dutton's character. I am so disappointed with it all. Jamie was an evil conniving, but polished, version of his biological father, Garrett Randall, whom he killed. You could see his dreams of developing the ranch and getting rich and becoming governor were dashed when he learned the ranch was given to the reservation. He always chose himself, his morals and ethics were fluid to suit his best interests at the moment. Every show needs a villain and Wes Bentley played Jamie perfectly. His was probably the hardest role to play and then Kelly's portrayal of Beth. It was good the ranch was turned back before it consumed another generation of Duttons.

I’m not really sure how to feel about these final episodes. I felt like for a while there was a shift and it only was speaking to a very specific group of people. Almost like it was getting a little too political. People from big cities specifically on both coasts love nature and the peace and tranquility it brings, just as much as anyone. We certainly don’t need anymore division and this is coming from a Kalispell resident.
Speaking specifically about the storyline, yes, I’m not happy about John Dutton being killed off, and in terms of Jamie, it’s almost Shakespearean and tragic. I mean, here’s a guy who is forced to become something he never wanted to be, ultimately was fearful for his life because of his sister, I don’t really think he ever wanted his father (John) dead. Also, there was just a lot left open. For example, it seemed like Lynelle was trying to tell Clara to be involved somehow and help. Whatever happened to Angela Rainwater, and what’s to become of Jamie‘s child? I like the idea of Casey’s new life with his family and even Rip and Beth; along with Carter. Still feels like there should be more though.
A quality show overall; looking forward to the second season of 1923 and getting back to the old West.

Look at all he has achieved and is achieving.
He recently brought the Texas 6666,s ranch from the last surving family member
He has given us how many shows to watch ....it's not like there is a huge selection to watch with out his shows.

It's also rumoured the Beth and ripp are getting a show.

I enjoyed Jamie’s end. I think it was set up well by Beth’s baiting him into beating her up to cover a planned murder. Some of the unanswered questions didn’t bother me; there wasn’t sufficient time to address them all. Kevin Costner’s departure took the key character out of the series; it was his own decision and took the heart out of the series. The spin-offs will be of unknown quality. Rip’s role in the end fit the personality developed throughout the series. I do believe the end was rushed, but Costner’s departure, the writers’ strike, and the screen actors guild short circuited a lot of series. The ranch couldn’t survive the planned economic development.

I don't really care one way or another if Taylor is in the episodes, he did add another layer to it (no matter how big or small it is). I am looking forward to the new spin off shows (and yeah I'm optimistic). I was/am hoping that Taylor will keep Tate and Carter close together as they grow up. That'd be a good show with their individual families in the background.... Yeah I have questions, but overall I was mostly satisfied and I think there'll be more answers in the spinoff's

Jamie's complicity in John's death was the core story line of the whole season and to spend such little time on His death was ridiculous.

I think the pressure of the ranch was too much for Kayce, he went in the military to avoid it, John was always pressuring him ordering Rip to make him ready. Kayce doing it on his own terms and not in John's shadow feels right. Jamie not have clean hands, he killed the reporter, he killed his dad, he was being manipulated by John, Market Equities, his dad. The only good advice he got was from baby mama then she left him for not being his own man. He threaten Beth several times all the family secrets would be out, so I understand how he had to go. Rip followed orders he didn't do anything on his own that is how he was raised and taught. I do love the loyalty of his character. I hope to see him evolve in his own spin-off as his own man. Yeah what one guy living alone has that much milk.

Second half of season 5 was an absolute buzz kill. There was maybe 15-20 minutes of excitement in the entire 6 episodes. It focused on some really bad country music and cowboy cook outs, what a joke. You would think that they would have tried to make it non-stop excitement considering how much time there has been to think up a good ending. Maybe with Kayse and Rip leading the cowboys into a BIG revenge plot against the ENTIRE organization that was hired to kill John Dutton. Instead, it was only 6 slow, measly episodes of Sheridan trying to take over the show with his arrogant, bad acting and showing off his horse-riding skills. Very disappointing. Apparently, Kevin Costner must have done the writing on the show prior to this because this was BAD!

Absolutely, Jamie knew of the train station, even though he put his father there. He was a time bomb to the family. As far as the rest doesn’t matter, Jamie is gone.

Ripp was the back bone. He was the concrete and the mechanics making things come together. The ranch, Beth, Casey and the hands. He is like the maintenance man keeping everything running but mainly in the background

Stop defending Jamie and yes it was done well and to the point. Also he was guilty by omission as he didn’t tell anyone after he found out who killed John.

I can’t agree more with this take on the final episode! Especially, why did Casey seem so relieved that his dad and the ranch were both gone? Did he hate them that much?
Rip didn’t shed ONE tear over the man that he buried?? The man that was like a father, mentor and brother all in one?!? C’mon, I get that he is a bad ass and blah blah blah but not ONE tear or sniffle??That’s crazy!
It’s not the worst final episode of any series out there but it’s definitely in the top five or ten.

My only comment regarding Rip's feelings toward Beth's retribution is that he's the only character in the show who has experienced killing a family member, in his teen years having killed his father in defense of his mortally wounded mother. That trauma, no matter how justified, is a thorn in his soul that will never go away. He waited too long and it cost him any semblance of his biological family . . . what Beth had planned could cost him & Beth any remaining normality in their family with Kayce, Monica, Tate & Carter. Undoubtedly, Rip knew of far better ways to address this issue with Jamie (and he likewise knew that a more contemplative Beth would have a host of other as well as similar means), and wanted to stop his wife from summarily executing Jamie in a fit of rage.
Of course, the unknown to all of US is the brilliant writing of Taylor Sheridan & his team - Beth had figured out a plan that would work, knew Rip would come running (as he did when the Compton brothers' goons attacked her), and the story appears airtight. [Btw, there was no need to clean up Jamie's blood - anyone in that valley who knows Beth Dutton knows she wouldn't have sustained a beating like that without getting a fair number of licks of her own in on the opponent. His blood at the scene merely fortified her story of a struggle with Jamie.]
And, finally, I couldn't agree with you more that Taylor Sheridan - tho a brilliant writer - as an actor isn't even in the same universe, let alone the same league, as the actors he's employed to make his scripts come to life. A series centered on the flat dialogue & delivery of Taylor the "Actor" and, as we saw in the Yellowstone finale, and Travis' unnecessary abusiveness would be a quick "no" for me. I'm a Texan - we have EVERYTHING in the world to be optimistic about in this state in contrast to ANY other in the same Electoral league as us . . . even without a 1970's-style Boom, some of the best & brightest from all walks of life in dozens of other states have decided their best opportunities in life lie in the Lone Star State. And that optimism is only further enhanced by the fact that our border is again far more under control than it was in the past 3 1/2 years; our Governor (a fast-follower of DeSantis' lead) having sent thousands of illegal vagrant migrants to Blue Cities has "shared" with them what was being imposed on our far-smaller border towns - prompting the Harris/Biden Administration to finally free CBP & other related units to do their damn jobs alongside the Texas National Guard, Rangers & State Police (3 years too late). Travis' character would be better placed in OK or NB. That character (or at least Sheridan's "acting" portrayal) is far more reflective of the depressing former homes like CA, IL, NY et al. of those who've come to Texas, and nothing like the Texas Spirit. The thought of Travis' character as portrayed by Sheridan attempting to replace Kevin Costner's John Dutton as the focal character of this franchise will ruin it.

I agree Sheridan's ego destroyed the show. The final season was very poorly written like it was an Abortion. Just get it over with. The Actors deserved better. Especially Rip, There could have been a group of friendly investors work to save the Ranch. Beth knows mega wealthy that could have helped them.
