Though i get your point not to waste food.. but respect and being grateful to the food does not make any change in these poor people lives.. Big Marketing companies are going to purchase those hard work and pay them very low wages.. sad but true.. my understanding is instead of giving respect to the food they produce.....we cannot help them directly, but we all can provide food for the homeless, hungry and need.. whom we see in our daily life..
So much hardwork. Not just to respect the food, respect their hardwork. Behind what is just a commodity that we all think is just available for money in a supermarket, there is somebody's entire life invested in bringing that commodity to us
Makhana is almost Rs. 1000/- per kg. Unfortunately these people who work so hard don't get paid enough.
I buy from wholesale market around 550-600 per kg,now imagine how less they get paid.
It's easily available @ ₹ 720/- KG.
Cut off the middlemen and buy wholesale
Such hard workers should get the best price. Agriculture Department shall sell the product and pay the sale amount to them.

The middle person takes all benefits..... Farmer to seller.. That is the best way....... India government introduced farmers bill previous year..... Farmers to seller..... But the opposition parties take strike and along with farmers (they misunderstood them)....The government compelled to withdraw the bill.......

The entire processing is insanely labor-intensive, both physically and mentally! The little girl roasting the makhana seeds with her family might not even have had the opportunity to attend school. I really wish they get at least a fair share of what exporters make out of makhana but sadly we know the labourers will get nothing.
