And for the people that hear you can run white gas or unleaded through it. You will need to clean your generator more often then Coleman fuel not like if you have natural gas appliances and you run propane. That will be a lot worse. It's jetted greatly differently.
I like your idea? What I use is round stock and horseshoes from d&B supply or tractor supply. I also create hot plates or raised hot plates above areas that you can lay a cast iron skillet. Because in my area these picnic tables have a rubber or synthetic coating over the steel tables I also build horseshoe key hangers along with that pot and pan holder above your island or cook area. And it's not China made? And I'll beat the price above Macy's and such.. even tactical gear hangers? It's sad that Coleman went to that synthetic rubber instead of leather for the pump. I had a single burner like that but it came in a square aluminum casing with the lid. But I gave it away because I was moving to another state. And currently I sure miss that single burner. And you cannot find that anywhere.I'm just saying.
Nice find, that’s in better shape than mine. Bought mine when I was 14 in 1973 to hike the Appalachian trail. Still have 47 years later and made tea last night with her. Going camping tomorrow with my grandson and the 502 will be there making my tea for a third generation.
Thanks for the video...I inherited all of Dad's coleman gear and remember him every time I use them. Coleman does sell a simple, lightweight chain and hanger system to hang your lanterns without damaging the trees. I hope you are only using these "spikes" on your own trees and not public lands or private campgrounds. Thanks again.
Hi Shane, what a great little stove you have there. I bought one years ago at a thrift store for $5 but it's missing the generator and looks new. After seeing your video I'm going to order one for it now and see if it runs. Thanks again
Thanks Jason. I'm loving this new camera. I've been playing around with it after shooting this video and I think I have the focusing issue taken care of now ... hopefully. I agree, it is a neat little stove. I'm glad Dave decided to pass it on to me.
Awesome score on the stove, I have the 505. Did a vid on rebuilding it actually. That guy will probably never forget you. Thanks for sharing! Stop by sometime 👍
Hey Shane thanks for your very informative videos keep up the good work! I just wanted to share something you might enjoy, I was cleaning out my pops old storage container and came across a Coleman 220E model manufactured in August of 1962 the box was a mess but when I opened it and took the lantern out to my surprise it was unused! Well from watching your vids I did a function test checked to see if knobs turned and if it held pressure and it did so I burnt the mantels waited and poured fuel in it and BAM it lite right up I was stoked. Just wanted to share the story with you thought you would get a good laugh out of it.
Thanks Wade. I'm pretty happy with the camera. Tonight I have been playing with a new editing software and I think my head is about to explode! Lots to learn in order to make better videos.
I have the 502 used it twice for camping in the 90 like new Model made in 1988, and I got the Colman Mantle 288A700 made in 1989 used once look new has well. never use them in 20 years or more we are in 2020.
coleman collectors are all like that: we all know we're the only ones that will buy this crap LOL! we just keep trading back in forth till judgment day....oh the wife kills us!
I have two Colman 502 1988 and the mantle 288A700 1989 I used one twice and the other ounce. They are on my selves. I used it in the 90 never use it again look like brand new.
be careful cleaning it!!! i got one is same condition looked all most new, just dusty, i used warm water a soft sponge and very little dawn soap. 1/4 the green paint came off and the operating instruction sticker smeared and partially came off. now i got to get new stickers and re paint. talk about dissapointment. but it is all original with box and instructions and works like brand new . love this stove!. i use my 425 f to cook on and the little 502 and / or my 533 stove for coffee or heating water to clean pans and plaates while im cooking so a 3 burner would be better but these 2 work just fine
That's a bummer about your stove! The paint on this one held up pretty good. It had a couple globs of pine pitch on it, also some in the air chamber, and still looks good after cleaning it. Don't know how the hell they got pine pitch in the air chamber but it was a pain getting it out. The flame is still a little yellow, might be a spider web in there that I didn't get out.
Shane - Blind Dog Blades don't get the pitch in it. But I did find evidence of a mouse living in the box so I'm sure amonia from mouse probably did the paint in
Another good free source for tent spikes is and are old shocks and struts... I dumpster shop my local auto shops for them...
Wow, you got a 502 single burner. I've got one I completely restored. W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern Tennessee

Video quality looks awesome Shane! Man I'm jealous of your Coleman finds! That's a clean little stove. Very cool.

I just scored the same stove for $20, came with the aluminum pot, pan and handle
Schizzultz hell of a deal. Congrats!
Good find. Went to the cemetery to say hy to my dad. It was hot. Can't wait to see what you're making with the springs. T
Hey banger, thanks. It's been hot here too but today we had a nice breeze which cooled things down a little.

Great score and great story to go with it.
That is a nice one. Alot of times the bowl has been allowed to rust and they are a pain to get off... Maybe you can find the heat drum for it ☺
Shane, do you take any Coleman projects for repair? Need help with a handy gas plant. I am also in N Utah.
Not usually but I can always take a look at it and see if we can figure it out.
Send me an email at shane@shanewhitlock.com and we can go from there.
