1 thing you guys will notice quickly is that this show has several well known voice actors be the voices of multiple minor & background characters. Not that it's a bad thing, but you'll likely say "That voice sounds familiar" or "They also voice this character" multiple times as you're watching this show.
Sorry for the late comment. Good reaction as usual. I especially like 40:20 b/c it reminds me of the 1st time I watched s1ep3: I often don't recognize sarcasm, so when Amber said "saving the world or whatever", I said something like "Oh sh*t, how'd you know!?"; In other words, if I was Mark in that moment, I would've accidentally given myself away.
The amount of disrespect omni-Man has to have to give the eulogy at the funeral for the people he murdered is insane.

Messing up the balance in the inner ear is a matter of putting pressure in the wrong places once you're past the eardrum. No cutting or "surgery" required. She wouldn't be "bloodied" after, so long as she made a clean puncture through the eardrum. No death required lol.
I was so happy to learn Grey Delisle voiced Shrinking Rae and Monster Girl. Her voice acting work is just phenomenal and she blows me away every time. She has such a recongisable voice but also such incredible range that I completely get why she's in seemingly every Western animated show. I mean to be able to voice characters like Daphne, Azula and Razz, all with completely different personalities and embody them all perfectly shows how talented she is.

It's admirable that mark stood up for rex when he was getting beat up by a little girl.
Mark always treats everyone equally. Man, woman or child
Even with Mark being the newest hero and Monster Girl being physically 14, Rex is still the "child" in "Man, woman or child."
On that last question, I think it's less about "talking about work" because obviously Nolan talks about his work as Omni-Man, but more along the lines of "Don't bring the work home with you." Being a super hero is tough gruesome work, so having that emotional separation is important. I think it also clues us in to way Nolan separates his Omni-Man and his viltrumite "responsibilities" (as he mentions in this episode) from his life with Debbie and Mark. And I think a weird collision of that that we see is in his training of Mark, which we see in the kind of bipolar switching between Nolan, the seemingly pretty good dad, and Nolan/Omni-man the viltrumite super-hero preparing a successor/ally for his life.
There's a fireman/emt, who has a youtube channel, who has a video about why one shouldn't ask them about "the worst thing they've ever seen" and why they have dark humor.
Some jobs... you really don't want to talk about at family gatherings.

When I first saw the scene with Rex and the Dupli-Kates, I always assumed it happened in the 2nd half of the season. I never imagined it would happen as soon as Episode 3. How insecure do you have to be to see that little interaction with Eve and Mark and then cheat. Like cmon Rex!

Eve kinda implied during her talk with Amber, in season 2, that Rex cheated on her a few times. Him being with Kate wasn’t the first time.

Grey DeLisle voices all of Olga, Shrinking Rae, Monster Girl, Betsy Wilkins (Eve’s Mom) and another character in the later season. They all share this VA with Azula from ATLA, Ming Hua or “Water Arm Lady” from TLOK(KORRA), The Ice Queen from Adventure Time, Vicky from Fairly Odd Parents, Jackie from SVTFOE, and MUCH more.
I'd also like to point out that Steven Yeun also played Glenn in Walking Dead which was written by the same guy as Invincible.

The shrinking person came out of his ear, they messed with the inner ear causing the gorilla thing to get nauseous then pass out.
I stand by my opinion of Nolan being the best written character in the show. The way he drives the narrative is just so interesting. You know something is going on, you have a basic idea, no understanding of how the pieces connect is what makes it so brilliant.
Fun fact, Bobby is seen reading Invincible in King of the hill.. everyone says Donald looks like bobby XD

A little detail that's easy to miss after the Mt Rushmore fight before Mark bolts to get back to Amber; Eve leans in to either hug or kiss Mark (on the cheek or the lips, idk). She clearly likes him and Mark clearly likes Eve too, based on his reaction to Cecil mentioning her before the fight.
I like to imagine that Nolan was fighting the urge to laugh throughout the entire funeral.
The building of a new team this fast kinda just goes to show that you’re either a vigilante or on the big team itself with nothing else. There’s no real hero school it’s just get assigned and save lives with practice and the only streamlined process is keep people alive and collateral to a minimum as much as you can help it. There’s no ethics book because if you’re in the government part…well that’s where we always find ethics. (Gonna stop there before I get worked up.) So we have cheating among coworkers, workplace violence, and because everyone is superheroes the only real thing keeping them in check is each other. So watching robot make this team was really interesting.
And there’s a lot of fun references. Not Gorilla Grod, not Antman, not iron man, they’re everywhere. The fun thing about them is more that this is an adult show so gore potential of these powers is just completely untapped. Rex goes to punch a lil Girl unironically, and then gets pummeled losing teeth and getting just busted over. Messing with gag reflexes, and just many more REALLY cool strats that are just…gross but fun.
You got prison breaks already and the Mauler Twins going on their clone or not a clone argument. Personally I don’t know if this is the original or not, but I’d like to think it is the original that more knows than anything don’t talk about being the original EVER. And just wait til the clone gets insecure 1st knowing that’s when a new one needs to be made. (Definitely doesn’t seem like this is their 1st time behind bars.) Robot appears to be pulling the strings.
And we get the ever lovely fact of just how freaking hard being a civilian with a superhero really is in a relationship 2 seconds in.
And a demon detective that gives one of the coolest threats basically getting right in Omni-Man’s face and saying one day you’ll know why I don’t want to be home. And then just by a mere presence in their home just has awesome levels of chills up the spine.

It’s hard to imagine how the hell Rex got in the Guardians after that whole performance and behavior with Monster Girl.
He was on Robot's Team he already saw the potential
Kinda the same as Endeavor. Great at hero work, as a person . . . not so much.
Well, Rex is kinda superhuman(not invincible or immortal level, but still), he can make things explode(try holding a firework in hand- insta hospital, so he is good at distracting big targets and neutralize small targets).
Plus Robot worked with Rex, so he knows how to operate with him.
I think we underestimate Rex's abilities as a hero. Given that he doesn't have any kind of advanced durability, an incredibly hard hitting power, and he is a personality liability, in order to make it this far and earn Robot's approval he must be just an incredibly efficient day-saver.
@jerryvanim-botting482 he took multiple punches from Monster Girl and didn't die. Rex does have increased durability and strength. He just not on the level of the heavy hitters in this universe.

I think Nolan does care, and he is compartmentalizing his conflicting motivations just to function. I actually think he was genuinely feeling sad at his friend’s funeral, but has such a tight grip on regulating his emotions that he can switch up far faster than the viewers. However, the tighter he squeezes, the more escapes his grasp, like the outburst with Debbie “questioning him” or the slip-up when he was justifying killing Red Rush to himself while talking to her about how him dying is different because he is much harder to kill.
She obviously fucked around with his inner ear and equilibrium

What Rae does in this scene is enter the ear and jostle the internal mechanisms until her opponent becomes severely dizzy and throws up. A solid tactic for a hero, since it wins the fight and neutralizes the threat in a manner that is not only nonlethal but not even harmful in the long term.

Shrinking Ray messed with the gorilla's inner ear which controls your sense of balance. If you mess with the inner ear it can cause vertigo and makes it feel like everything is spinning around you. My sister experiences vertigo randomly and when she does she says it looks like the ceiling is on the floor, and it makes her incapable of standing on her own and causes her to vomit.
Doc Seismic is a bit of a mood.

I understand that the Omni Man reveal in most cases. Would come in the season finale but you have to get the hook in early for the series otherwise people will write it off as another superhero show
Just a note here: I am far from a blind flag waving American, but maybe do a little reading re: the comments about Mount Rushmore. Yes, some of what happened when the United States became the United States was reprehensible. But the noble savage was always a myth. They had slavery, burned and flayed each other alive, many tribes were absolutely savage and consistently tried (and succeeded in) to subjugate others. For better for worse, we owe nearly everything we have including our lifestyles and your reaction channel to those guys up on the mountain and guys like them.
And I'm sorry to say it but: it was a war and the Native Americans lost. That is the story of human history.

The Mauler Twins are both clones. The original Mauler has been dead. They just keep cloning each other, neither knowing who cane first.

I will always remember which Dakota has Mount Rushmore because of an episode of The West Wing. North Dakota wanted to help boost their tourism, claiming they got fewer tourists than South Dakota because when people see "North" they think Cold. The White House characters pointed out South Dakota probably has more tourism because of MOUNT RUSHMORE, and not South = Warm.

Regarding powers, we've got aliens (and half-aliens) both interstellar and interdimensional, demons, curses, robots, a guy who used to have powers, lost them, and is now wearing power armour, cyborgs (I mean, I assume that guy with a cannon for an arm is one), clones, kaijus, and who knows what else... we've clearly got the typical comic book 'throw it at the wall and see what sticks' kind of deal, here.
Just make a counter for everything while you're at it. Got angry counter, gasped counter, disagreed with argument counter.
The inner ear is incredibly sensitive and can cause vertigo, nausea and/vomiting if disturbed in a certain way, which is what Shrinking Rae did when she went inside the guy's ear. Nothing to do with a uvula, haha...

Doc seismic probabloy used to be a cool guy, he has a few valid points as well as a few hundred concussions so he's not completely there anymore xD
As for the Mauler twins, Mauler 1 is called that because he appears first in the scene, while Mauler 2 appears second. But if they create each other through cloning, unless they're actually the first pair and none of them ever died (which is unlikely considering how well known they already seemed in Ep1 so they must have done a lot of dangerous activities before), it's unlikely either of them are the original, they're likely both clones.
Montana's getting a new father figure to hate right as Endeavor is starting to heal and come around. ^_^

Have you guys ever considered venturing away from your usual serialized shows and trying an anthology series (each episode tells its own unconnected story)?
Cause I've got a couple I think you might enjoy: Star Wars: Visions snd Love, Death and Robots.
The first is a Star Wars anime on Disney +, where each episode was animated by a different studio and tells stories from all across the Star Wars timeline.
The second is a series on Netflix, also having different animators for each episode and tackling a plethora of genres (sci-fi horror, fantasy, mecha, crime thriller).
Just something to consider. I think you would enjoy each of them.
I think a lot of people miss the point of Doc Seismic (other than being funny and entertaining); He’s a satire of people that think that just because they pander to certain beliefs, that that somehow means they are justified or correct in being evil assholes. That theme will definitely come into play even more with other characters soon 🙂

In the comics its Science Dog, he's a Scottish Terrier. Also what's with the gross mocking Montana thing? It's one thing if that's mutually agreed upon fun you have alone, but it's a bit weird to make it a recurring part of your content to make fun of your wife.
"Invincible" is a pun in the sense that one meaning is "the show's title" and the other meaning is whatever it means in the sentence. So it's one word with two meanings for comic effect, a pun. A bit of a stretch but not a big one imo.
In the comics, the fight with the doctor only lasted like a few minutes, and he wasn't this well written.
