GENIUS! The ending just goes to show what can happen with knowledge, faith, time and patience. WOW! Alfred Hitchcock never ceases to amaze me! Goes to show his incredible and creative mind! How did he come up with this stuff!?!? LOVE IT!
He made a deal with a crossroads demon or something his work is always so unique and compelling. It is now just as much as it was then and will be in the future.
Ha ha He must have hid the money in offshore accounts somehow, possibly using other people and their names . He couldn’t just stroll into any local or U.S. banks and deposit the money in his own name, because they would have found it.
Time and patience?? 13 years of waiting??! This is not patience, this is absurdity! Ummm being locked up in a prison and losing 13 years of your life at that age would not be worth it for me!
@@chicagogyrl4846 Not only that but all it takes is for just one smart accountant to get wise, and then the game is up. There are always too many stool pigeons!
An awesome episode of AHP! Wish I'd have thought to do what Potter did in '47 But then I wasn't even born until a couple of decades later. What a great plot. Kudos to the writer! Loved the women playing shuttlecock 🏸 with shorts and high heels 👠
Imagine coming out of jail after so long, just to find out the government found out about your little investments, and took it all back while you were still in jail!!
Compounded interest is the cats meow and no guns no teller being scared out of her wits. If ur going to commit a crime this is the one I would recommend.
Now why didn't I think of that? With my luck they would have transferred me. With charley Manson as my cell mate. After 12yrs and no sleep I would have quite literally earned the interest the hard way.
How could he travel while on parole ? Wouldn't his parole officer notice it v quickly when he does not show up to report to him ? The warrant would be out in no time.....
SPOILER. This is a movie of course with a scenario but it doesnt look very real. The old guy who plays the cool and the clever during the whole movie was no more than a thieve. No one would ever accept that much money by one employe just like that. In order to accept money they ask for a whole lot of info and papers etc. He should absolutely explain where the money comes from even if he made this deal with the Mafia. I went to exchange one little silver item and they asked me more than 30 questions on every aspect of my life. Even what color of undeware I have on.... This itinerary of the stolen money would be found 2 days after he got in jail. But as I said.... its just a movie.

Potter's resolve and endurance echo's Andy DuFresne's in Shawshank Redemption, i.e. If you want something bad enough......wait for it.
It's been a LONG time 60+ years since I first saw thus, but I did not forget the ending
But I ain't willing to do no time in jail, in order to retire, I enjoy my freedom entirely TOO MUCH!!
HE ENDED UP OPENING A FIX-UP SHOP IN MAYBERRY
Lol. He's brother in law had him selling insurance too, but the fix it shop is were his heart was.
Good cop/good cop. And the most considerate ever.
Compound interest really is the 8th wonder of the world!
Daisy Dukes and high heels! 😆😂
What a clever plot!! Loved the ending!
The description for this video is incorrect -- this episode was from season 5, not season 7. Aired in Feb. 1960.

Loved the women playing shuttlecock 🏸 with shorts and high heels 👠
Wasn't that shuffleboard they were playing? I thought shuttlecock was more like badminton.
@@ronmackinnon9374 Whatever it was, those were great legs.
What a surprise ending.
"Investments!" 👀 😆 🤣 😂
Invested the money he stole then giving the original back 😺😸😹
Brilliant idea!
Paul Hartman character is Mr. Potter also he was the character Emmett Clark in the television sitcom The Andy Griffith Show!
i heard his voice and knew it was him right away! i was on another screen and came back to verify!
@@supposedly1-2 He's the only thief in Alfred Hitchcock screenwriting that enjoyed ill- gotten gains and live happily after.
He played a safecracker in another Hitchcock episode. Same modest personality that had people fooled.
😊❤👍👍👍👍👍 i love this episode. Tks for sharing.❤
Bert Freed as the police captain in the flashback scenes. He was frequently cast in such stern-faced roles.
He got 12 years of free Room, Board Medical and dental while his investment almost doubled!
Thank you for another Hitchcock episode 👍
Wow. What a great idea!!
I haven’t seen this one before. I really enjoyed it!
This was brilliant
He's one slick cat! 😎
Absolutely Brilliant.
Simply, spectacular.

Imagine coming out of jail after so long, just to find out the government found out about your little investments, and took it all back while you were still in jail!!
What a pain that would have been. Glad it wasn't the case!
Definitely had me
great classic

Good one
Ingenious 💡😆
The time is easy to do when you already know the outcome is great!

lol embezzlement that worked
That was a good one.
Interesting/entertaining. I'll drink to his good fortune also-!!!🤗.
Emmett Clark! Had to Google it, Lol 😆
Who's here after reading JL Collins blog ?
I am!
Lol..I need to learn how to invest but the right way
4 of 8 comments on this video are bots wowza!
Would that include the Cat Lady bot?
I knew that's what he done with it . . . very clever and sensible ... BUT the company would want the interest as well, cos that's what they lost 😮
Best show

He probably served his full sentence and then was released free and clear.
Its just A Movie.
@@tradeladder146 Not even a movie. Just a show but a v good show :)

Brilliant idea, unfortunate-
ly it would never work.
As someone with investments all over the world I can tell you it would!
Pray tell, why wouldn't it?
banks payed way more interest back in those days
@@Heart2HeartBooks because the Company would want the interest back as well, since that is their loss ...
