I disagree. It is great entertainment, does exactly what it is supposed to, without pretentiousness. The terrorists tend to be simplified somewhat, because they are not really the focus per se, but in a pared down way each group of 'baddies' is a reasonably accurate rendition.
Except for the diminished firepower, I don't understand why their gear doesn't include a pistol with a silencer when the operational target requires stealth. For an elite unit, it's unrealistic for the antagonist to always be, episode after episode, the better shot. They also need Israeli Grav Maga hand to hand combat training. But, especially Jamie since he's the one who always gets the shyt beat out of him. Why Jamie? Did the author have a girlfriend who dumped him for someone named Jamie?
In real life Silencers are called suppressors and they only reduce the sound of a gunshot to 90-120db witch is for camparison train moving beside you is almost 95-99db Simply they are useless

Depends I'd imagine on whose jurisdiction begins and ends. SAS have stormed a ship within British coastal waters before. A freighter in Belfast Lough was raided by them in 1969 on suspicion it was running arms for Loyalist paramilitaries .
A foreign vessel entering a UK Port has to provide a cargo manifest and also a crew manifest.Customs and excise and immigration would have boarded as soon as it docked,and would demand to see passports of all the crew.Also by the looks of that vessel inspectors from the MSA,Marine Safety Agency would want to inspect that pile of shit and arrest it.Why not just board it officially,state who you are IE we are the Police,what the fuck are you doing here and who are you,what are they going to do,,its not as if they could slip away quietly.No need for the SAS,customs,immigration and a couple of policeman,,,no need for a shootout,but a good laugh I suppose.
I think the idea here is that they mostly passed inspection and paperwork upon docking but the previous red flag on the ship with mi5 watching it anyway caused them to call SAS to investigate more. Bad communication between French and British special forces. Also it's just TV so I dunno

I find the scenes with Pete and his PTSD quite real to be honest. And acted really good by Tony Curran.
Noticed Tony Curran had an encore PTSD performance in that CBS SEAL Team show, typecasting jokes side, he literally played the US version of Pete!
He recently portrayed a Navy SEAL with TBI. The man is a great actor sad he doesn't get to show his chops as much.
