Best line ever “as long as you don’t eat the pallet like a piece of pizza” 😂😂😂. GOLD
I admire your efforts to teach the art of painting in miniature. It is not an easy task.
Teaching becomes even more difficult the more confident we become because we take what we have earned through relentless practice for granted. One almost has to "dumb" down the method because it is actually harder than it looks to most - in the beginning. Furthermore, through practice, we discover what has already been established from the masters before us.
In my fifty plus years of experience as a painter and model maker (not just model kit builder), in film, theater, and museum work, I find the mainstream hobby culture, itself, does not teach much at all. I have probably built a thousand kits and then one grows tired of it. It's the hard experience that is the real teacher - albeit in the context of the hobby. But then, "hobby" is a misnomer because it never affords the time to get really good at it, but suggests it should always be fun. Sometimes finding the gold is not fun.
In closing, overcoming fail has a silver lining as well. Brave painters become great painters. Skill and talent mature in the crucible of failure and success through earned experience. No experience, no joy. Cheers and keep up the great work!😁👍
Thank you, and it's the same for all tasks or effort we want to pursue. Sports, art, writing, creating in all forms requires us to achieve a level of learning in order to execute successfully.... that's why the journey is such an enjoyable part of our hobby.
That said, it's true, trying to keep the mental aspects in check is one of the many challenges. Our brain is often the first hurdle we must overcome... ;)
I like your thinking on weathering. Myself i am constantly referring to photos of the subjects i do.
The big problem i have with other techniques and one of them is highlighting panel lines with a very dark color🤨 with the airbrush
I am so enjoying these shorts, and I am learning so much about OPR.
Glad you like them!
Thank you Mike for another excellent video, I learned a lot from your books, Mainly the why and not just the how
Can't believe you came after my Starship Filth like that. How dare you!!!! LOL. Thanks for this video. I'm newly returned to the hobby since childhood and this video me think beyond the basics.
Inspiring as usual
