I made a reservation 6 weeks in advance lol. I was quite excited because he is very entertaining. I didnt expect much to be honest. Its an egg with no seasoning. Fried rice with very little seasoning as well. Food: Its bitter. He added the sauce on the rice = gave it good colour but not good taste. Then he added more of the sauce in the plate = even more bitter. Food is very average to be honest. But that's not what I came for. I came there to witness his skills and just to see him personally. Conclusion: If you want to go there for food, you will be disappointed. For social media pics and meeting Chef Motokichi then its worth it.
Very nice video indeed. The food looks so yummy! I look forward to more content from you KyotoKyoto. By the way, where did you buy your black coat and what is the brand name? It's really sharp looking. Let me know man. Arigato gozaimasu!
Thanks! I got the coat as a gift, but it came from a Cole Haan outlet shop, and it was during a Black Friday sale, so it was on a MAJOR discount. For some reason, it was very difficult to find, but I think this link should be the same jacket (in the black option). shop.nordstrom.com/s/cole-haanwool-blend-jacket/4153955
So the first restaurant you went to, you said if you go around 5:30ish, you can go without reservation. So with or without, can you still go with only one person or do you need more?
You can go in with one person! Though whether you can get a seat depends on if the person who reserved that hour (in this case 5:00) leaves with enough time left for Mr. Kichi to make you something (usually 30 min to make and eat). The place as you may have been able to tell is pretty small, so hopefully, someone else isn't waiting before you.
Oh okay thank you for the reply. I live in Oregon & i wanted to visit Japan to go to Kichi Kichi restaurant . But when i've heard you need a reservation, i thought i wasn't going to be able to get in to try the omurice.
Oh, nice! I grew up most of my life in Portland before moving to Kyoto. When will you be going to Japan? You can try setting up a reservation (all in English) here: kichikichi.dongree.net/reserve/notes-on-reservation/ But as you can see, only three days are still available within the reservable time (6 weeks advance/January 14th). If you're coming later than that, you may be able to set a reservation if you check the site every now and then Mondays.
Oh wow, i always wanted to move to Japan. What is it like over there? I kind of was thinking maybe somewhere in Spring since i've heard so much about the cheery blossom trees look nice there.
I love it here, especially in Kyoto! I know most people want to go to Tokyo, but that's an entire beast of Japan by itself. In my experience, Tokyo is too much of a big city, so it's a little overwhelming for me. The cherry blossom time is so beautiful, but also so busy! It's the most crowded time in Japan, and the cherry blossom themselves are so unpredictable, so I hope you don't get here too early or too late!
He's like a man-sized boy. So genuine and honest. Also, thanks for sharing the reservation page for Kichi Kichi.
This was very informative. Thanks.
great video explaining kichi kichi! we just made our reservation tonight ^_^
Awesome! I'm sure you'll have a great time there!
i couldnt stop replaying 5:39 woooaah indeed
Amazing, right!? It happens so fast and so perfectly!
I did not expect it could get any better than slicing it open.

KyotoKyoto Thanks man. I’ll check it out. Keep up the good work! Ganbatte, ne! ^_^
While I know you worry you're a bad talker I very much enjoyed your video and the input you added was great. :-)
Thank you! Your words mean a lot to me, and I know I have a long ways to go, but your comment makes me want to continue trying to make better videos!
