Avid fan because of Ron McAnally who campaigned Candy Ride. Who could forget Ron ! He campaigned initially John Henry when John Henry came to the west coast.
An Argentina-bred, like Paseana imported by Sydney and Jenny Craig. Those southern american horses were tough and who could forget Richard Mandela's Gentlemen and Siphon.

And bayakoa coached by Ronald L. McAnally, the double consecutive winner of the bredders cup distaff 1989 and 1990 and of so many classic races, one of the best mares, if not the best foreigner that has ever trodden that ground

@@francoarrua011 Did you know that Bayacoa was parrot mouthed? And if you've ever galloped horses I'm sure you know how difficult it is to restrain or Gallop a parrot mouthed horse!!!!

I wasn't yet in the habit in those days of going out of my way to make appointment viewing of many races other than the TC and BC, but I did happen to catch the Pacific Classic shown here (*5:53 ---it was a mile and a quarter, not a half), and it's still fresh and clear in the memory now 20 years on. Always root for his kids and grandkids.

Argentina produced a stallion we stood at stud in Washington State. Sensitive Music was 3rd in the Blue Grass Stake and 6th in the Kentucky Derby, just behind his brother Introductivo also from Argentina, by Sensitivo, in the 🌹1972 Kentucky Derby..a few colts up from Argentina that year.. Fun fact.. lol🤠

👍👍 Argentina also produced the great mares Bayakoa and Paseana! Both hall of famers I believe...

I trained two Argentina horses and what they do when they can't win their condition races anymore they get rid of them they don't keep them around like they do in the States with the culls and breed more culls! And you got to realize that there's only one 10 gold Polo player in the United States Dale Carol and he's dead they breed and raise some of the best Polo ponies in the world!!!!

I didn't know that he is Gun Runner's father! That Pacific Classic was sublime! Maybe the best ever. But since then been eclipsed by Beholder and the Supreme Flightline, who beat a good field by 19 3/4 lengths..

I just love this horse and his offspring I think game winer would have been just as good as gunrunner or better if he didn’t get his race career cut short

I was wondering why he didn't switch to his right lead up the stretch... does he have a dimple in the right side of his neck above his shoulder? And did that cause a problem that ended his racing career?
