I am right there with you, as this song did not get much attention on the radio. However, the message of the song is so clear; that these are creatures, “of love”, which man has been destroying, rather inhumanely for years. As another poster commented, looking at what we have done to our planet and every other creature on it, it is embarrassing to be human! I hope we come around soon, to the fact that all intelligences, are a lesser part of a greater whole: like the Far Eastern Philosophies teach. If you have ever watched the short documentary, academy award winning film, The Cove, which analyzes and questions the Japanese slaughter of these beautiful, more loving and caring creatures, than we can ever hope to be, you will cry. It had to listen/watch Olivia’s Dolphin Song video, to assuage the horror I felt, living so many years, never knowing the innumerable atrocities against other creatures, man has committed, which can never be atoned for, nor forgiven! As an ONJ fan, with the release of her first “cassette”, If Not for You, 1971, I went on to become an avid fan of her beautiful, peaceful and calming voice and songs; from country, pop, to soft rock, that only she has mastered, in every cassette/album, CD, she has made thereafter. As a lifelong activist for environmental and animal rights issues, the world is blessed by Olivia’s presence in it-speaking for those whom have no voice. She has taken an ongoing stance against man’s destruction of the Amazon Rain Forest, taking and making every opportunity, to educate us all, about the importance of this dynamic ecosystem: which we have now been destroying for decades, to plant crops, for beef sold to McDonalds. Yes, I do hope that mankind is held in harsh judgement, for destroying an entire planet out of greed and the never-ending pursuit of money. Mere words defy the ignorance behind the human lust for money, which trumps all else and begs the question: “How much is enough?”

The morning after I was in the pools, I woke up and the words and melody were in my head. I think it was a gift from them.” Some years before, in 1978, she had cancelled a concert tour in Japan to protest the slaughter of dolphins caught in tuna fishing nets. She only rescheduled the tour when the Japanese government assured her they were eliminating that practice. She was so beautiful in the inside and outside. There will never be another like her...💔
