Great demo comparison. Just what I was looking for. They all sound great, your playing is well done. I think I will look for a Standard model. Thank you
Of the three examples, I prefer the Squier Classic Vibe. I have one and it is very comfortable, the most comfortable of my 3 squier (If a pickup does not convince, replace it with another pickup with different tone). I have a Squier affinity for Indonesia 2014 and it's amazing, very good and very light action, I replaced the electronics and the bridge and there was a great guitar with a sharp sound. And another that convinces me of my collection of guitars is a Squier Affinity 1999 Made in Indonesia, it is practically a Fender Standard, the same measures, very balanced and a balanced tone. The mast is thick and the nut is 42.4 mm, I replaced the pickups with a Texas Specials, it sounds very hot. Excuse my written English.
It always amazes me with the bang for buck you get with any Squier, the Classic Vibe especially.A mod I always do to any non US Strat is wire the bridge pickup with a tone control,an easy mod with a bit of soldering, well worth it.
This is one of the best comments I have ever read on You Tube, "it works just fine for me". That''s how it should be and what it's all about. Cheers Pete you got a good guitar there which will last you years.
I own a Affinity Strat 2016 Made in Indonesia, which I rate higher in quality then the Chinese, but why I own one is the weight when you get a bit older the old shoulders have the aches etc, so the lighter guitar is nice, throw in some decent pups, etc, bang great guitar, I think the classic vibe comes with the alinico pups, thus it would be a warmer sound then the plain ceramic pups on the Affinity, my adivise look for the Affinity Squiers built in Indonesia,
Try scrolling down so you can't see Rob and the guitars and listen to them. I have the standard model and I'm sticking with it. All you folks with the affintys, you saved a good bit of money and those with the vibe have a really good looking an sounding guitar. I wouldn't part with any of these 3 for anything, I'm a player and love playing, the name on the head stock don't bother me at all. Yet another great video Rob it's nice to see the Squire family get the credit it deserves.
One of the best strats ever made were by Squier The jv series of the early eighties. In fact most Japanese Squiers were as good as their Fender counterpart. Then you have the Korean protones of the early 90s. They are top guitars.
The Classic Vibe has a more distinctive, ringing sound. The other two are very close, I don't hear a significant difference. I prefer the "modern" ones in terms of sound and if I were to choose one of them, I would have to decide on other criteria.
Yes, I did so too, the new 2019 CV are a bit different but Fender did a lot to make them better. I think the 2019 CV line is one that will also become a very highly demanded one over the years. I bought ours about a week ago, it's such a beautiful instrument and, in my opinon, worth the money. You can get better ones for more money or some decent ones for less money like a Harley Benton but I think you can't get anything as close to the "real thing" as these for that price ... If you like the classic Fender Strat look and feel but don't want to spend thousands or at least 900 bucks for Vintera ... fine, get the CV, it's that good ;-) At least in my opinion! But as always, buy from your local and trusted music store, they ensure you get a great instrument which won't disappoint you!
Gonna get a Standard Cherry Burst (the one in this video!) I am in love with the color, and the bits of wood grain showing through. Reminds me of a PRS. I was torn between the standard and a 50s classic vibes but after this video I've decided that for me at least the extra $150 isn't worth it.
Thanks for the comparisons, really helped! It's my first guitar ever so I'm getting a budget friendlier one like the standard squier and mod it as I learn songs, so it's close to a MIM one eventually :)
I just landed myself a sunburst Affinity Stratocaster. Should be here next week or so. I've never played a rosewood fretboard Strat. I personally prefer maple, so I might end up switching them around. I really miss playing a Strat, so I bought one to stop myself being sad and feeling like I lost my child. I can't get my new pickups to ground in my new harness's setup either, so I'm annoyed by that problem right now. I dunno how to get it to stick and I've tried things like flux and sanding it down to scar the surface. My solder is terrible I think. It's unleaded. :(
interesting watching this vid 9 years later, interesting to see,i think the indo/china squiers of that era were better than those today, rosewood boards, alnicos in the standard and cv,though i thought the alnicos on the 2 standards strats i owned,1 china/1 indonesia, the chinese was better,to be a bit thin clean, had a standard tele which was much better than both standard strats, had a few affinity/ strats/teles,not bad, some good, some not great, that one sounds not bad,the classic vibe has fullest tone,is it a early chinese one, best of the last decades squiers, and alder body, all these squiers have stuff on them, necks, pickups, hardware that you dont get on current squiers, though current squiers may have fancier finishes/logos etc though guitar store vids/reviews will tell you the latest ones are improved
@God Love Choose the one you love because that will help you to play more. 👍 The color is very important, think about the energy you want to work many hours :). Search about colours and chakras. You can choose many colours and may be one help you to be better.
Love Squier guitars! I recently got my hands on an 80s Japanese made Squier Stratocaster. Its EASILY on par with a Mexican Strat and would hold its own against a production model American Strat.
Squier guitars are very good. I have a vintage modified 70s strat (black one with maple neck). SD designed pick ups plays just as great as some of my Fenders. Schecter guitars are great value too.
Well I've absolutely decided that I'm buying a new squier and it's gonna be candy apple with the rosewood or laurel board but I'm so torn between the affinity and standard. I don't gig or even play particularly well, I'm a 3 chord bedroom wonder at best but I love it nonetheless. Even though it's a bit more affordable the affinity seems like a solid choice, I've seen a bunch of videos and people seem pretty happy with them...any thoughts?
The standard has a full thickness body, slightly thicker neck and Alnico tuners, the affinity is still a great guitar. New 2019/2020 models will Indian laurel fingerboards. Both awesome guitars if your budget allows get the standard
@@theguitarmanifesto hey I really appreciate the reply and the advice, I'm thinking that the standard might be a bit more guitar to eventually grow into and with a not too steep down payment and financing plan where I've been checking them out it's dead simple to bring one home.
Love the video, and your playing! All sound pretty good! I’m in a position where I could get the red Affinity for $99 or the CV (same green) for $280, both used. Not sure which to pursue. I’m a Beg/Int player so not sure which gives me the most bang for the buck. Again, all sound good! Any suggestions as you’ve reviewed all...
I really want to buy an electric guitar and i have enough for the affinity should i wait until i can afford the classic vibe or not? What are the main differences between affinity and classic vibe?
Wow, I'm surprised by the sound of the Affinity. I thought it sounded great. I have a vVintage Modified 70s na d a Classic Vibe 60s, both heavily modified/upgraded/refinished etc... I have a really nice 60s spec'd neck that I was going to get a Strat body to build my own 60s Strat, but I might get an Affinity to use as the platform now.
Yeah the ceramic pickups sound really good, one thing I will say over the higher end models is the body is thinner and a bit lighter not a deal breaker but just so you're aware. I'm glad you found the video useful.
see for me I prefer the thin body. I'm a professional guitarist (well I used to be), and I eventually sold my US ltd stratocaster and kept my use affinity that I paid $40 for. It's a great guitar for the price of lunch for me and my wife.
yeah especially the Affinity HSS CAR, ive had it since may 2017 and i havnt even broke a string from playing hard power coords and solos and some bar coords
I just bought a Fender Precision copy by Aria Pro. I always think of the Precision being the big brother to the Strat. Same shape. My first ever guitar. The price of the Affinity and Bullet range is comparable to what Aria do. I paid 130 quid for mine. It's all black with a rosewood fingerboard. It's got a white pickguard, but I ordered a few new ones to got with it. I've got more strats than any other guitar, so the next one I buy I want to be really special. In the meantime, I'll get these ones I have set up.
Not much between the three of them in my opinion but maybe the Classic Vibe has a brighter clean sound. If you had played the neck pickup on each guitar one after the other and then done the same for the other pickups then it may have been easier to tell the difference. Anyway, great video.
+Tim Morphy yeah I did think about doing it that way but it's a mofo to record and edit 😜😜 but agree the classic vibe slightly edged it and it felt the best to play
I have both standard and bullet version of the tele, I prefer the alnico on the standard. Much brighter and clearer, instead of that wompy muddy sound you get with the ceramic.
Very good demo! I got a VM Strat in sunburst and feels great, the neck and the Duncan Designed pickups are awesome. This Squiers are so much better than their early 2000 models.
Great comparison no waffling on 👍 Would you personally pay extra for MIM Strat or go with the classic vibe if you were like me not very good but like just playing to relax
For me, 1. Classic vibe 2nd. Affinity 3rd. Standard I loved the sound of the classic vibe, thought it sounded beautiful. I loved the Affinity’s clean sounds too, almost as good. Makes my next purchase more difficult lol 😂😎🎸 Love these compaison and review videos of yours 😎 the best on youtube!! 🎸😎🔥
Good choices dude the Classic vibe definitely stands out for me too, the affinity definitely is an awesome guitar especially for the price range. Thank you very much I'm glad you like these comparisons I try to make mine stick out from the crowd \m/
It sounds like the Affinity and the Standard have the same pickups. The CV has the Alnico Toneriders in it which make them sound fuller and less tinny.
Thanks dude, all depends what you play really they are totally different Guitars. The strat is a good all rounder especially clean but can lose itself with too much Distortion. Mustangs have short scale necks 24" a Strat is 25", The two Humbuckers on a Mustang will have a bigger sound.
can definetly tell the difference, well made review and comparison man! id say the standard can give you some usable tones but the classic vibe is way above, most people dont even change the pickups on the classic vibe and keep it as it is, great sounding and looking instrument
Hey! Should I go for the Affinity or the standard one? I'm more of a psychedelic/space rock fan and that's the kind of sound I'm looking for. Also, what amp would you suggest for under 250 dollars? Thank you.
Your video was of great help :) Help me choose between a Standard & a VM '70s. The Standard sounded thinnest of the lot but probably nearer to "Fender Tone". Not sure how a VM sounds. What are your thoughts? Thanks
Glad the video helped. The standard sounds pretty good I much prefer the 60s classic Vibe I just reviewed the 2019 model link below. The 70s one will sound a little fuller. th-cam.com/video/TZmAYB2tUQo/w-d-xo.html
If you can find one ... it propably will cost a lot more than a new one ;-) The CV series has a very good reputation and is now sort of Squiers equivalent to the Fender Vintera line - which is in some aspects a bit better but in other quite the same as the Squire CV but costs a lot more. I bought a CV from the 2019 line, they are great as well but obviousely are missing the matching headstock ...
Clean - 1st Classic Vibe, 2nd Affinity, 3rd Standard. Distortion 1st Affinity, 2nd Standard, 3rd Classic Vibe. Affinity definitely worth the money (not sure if this one is Indonesian or Chinese but stay away from the Chinese Affinity!) I think the standard is such a let down when it should be doing a lot better than Affinity, also I hate the look of the large headstock but that’s just a personal opinion. Classic Vibe is gorgeous when clean but really ugly with distortion (very muddy) definitely a good guitar but less versatile than the Affinity.
when I bought my first stratocaster back in 06 it was the standard for it's flamed maple top and I hated the large headstock, fast forward all these years later and it's the small one that's now ugly for me.
Well I played some not so good Fender Mexicans Mostly around 2010-.newer models but there are some crazy good Mexican Strats out there too. I had to think about that. I still say it depends.
Clean sounds:
Affinity neck 1:54, neck + middle 2:22, middle 2:50, middle + bridge 3:18, bridge 3:45
Standard neck 4:00, neck + middle 4:27, middle 4:54, middle + bridge 5:24, bridge 5:52
Classic Vibe neck 6:20, neck + middle 6:47, middle 7:14, middle + bridge 7:41, bridge 8:07

neck position in a Strat type guitar is unbeatable 😍
Oh yeah 🎸👌
the standard then affinity has the better neck tone. the standard then cv has the better middle, the cv then affinity bridge sounds best to me.
Classic Vibe will always close to fender, however standard series is better than affinity
Nice comparison!! In this case I will take Standard one which is the highest playability.
The Classic Vibe has a more distinctive, ringing sound. The other two are very close, I don't hear a significant difference.
I prefer the "modern" ones in terms of sound and if I were to choose one of them, I would have to decide on other criteria.
Yes they were all very close, I was just documenting the differences between these 3 particular Stratocasters in the Squier range.
You can always upgrade pickups later and get whatever tone you want with a better pickup. Put Di Marzios in those squiers they would be amazing
Classic Vibe sounded the best. Balanced, chimy, full sound.

Mustangs have short scale necks 24" a Strat is 25", The two Humbuckers on a Mustang will have a bigger sound.
Sweet, I have a beringer strat and it sounds terrible , I'd like to try a squire or a fender strat
I've played a Behringer Strat before and they are terrible in every way, I would highly recommend a Squier or Fender Strat
Like love korean squierstrat 90
Love the colour of that standard. Isn't it cherry sunburst though rather than amber sunburst
no it was amber burst
Definetly amber sunburst.
can definetly tell the difference, well made review and comparison man!
id say the standard can give you some usable tones but the classic vibe is way above, most people dont even change the pickups on the classic vibe and keep it as it is, great sounding and looking instrument
Thanks dude.
The classic Vive is an awesome guitar
Hey! Should I go for the Affinity or the standard one? I'm more of a psychedelic/space rock fan and that's the kind of sound I'm looking for. Also, what amp would you suggest for under 250 dollars? Thank you.
If your budget allows for for the standard, thicker neck and body, alnico pickups, better fit and finish.
Yahama THR or Boss Katana are great amps
they say tagima 530 are good strats I wonder how they compare to these would u ever get one to demo on your channel?
I don't think they sell them here in the UK :(
Your video was of great help :)
Help me choose between a Standard & a VM '70s.
Do you keep all your guitars or do you sell some after a video?
Some I keep some move on :)
where do you find the blue classic vibes on with the blue headstock
That's from the old classic Vibe range now discontinued
If you can find one ... it propably will cost a lot more than a new one ;-) The CV series has a very good reputation and is now sort of Squiers equivalent to the Fender Vintera line - which is in some aspects a bit better but in other quite the same as the Squire CV but costs a lot more.
I bought a CV from the 2019 line, they are great as well but obviousely are missing the matching headstock ...
Nice comparison, but I still prefer offsets haha.
When do you think that review for the tele will be ready for my viewing pleasure?
haha I may agree ;) sshhh
Hopefully in the next few days dude
Rob The Meat Manifesto very cool 😎 I’m looking forward to it. Were you very hungover on Sunday? You sure did drink a lot on the live stream haha 😆 😵
Just a bit haha its all Rock N Roll though dude I'm hardcore
Rob The Meat Manifesto haha for sure man
Same time this Saturday dude :)
Could you pleease do this video for telecasters? It would be extremely useful!!
Great review. Say hi to the queen for me.
Good video!!! May i ask if the Bullet Squire is "near" to the sound one of the three's Affinity Standard or Classic ?
+Nikos Papadopoulos the closest will be the affinity, I have recorded a review video of the Squier Bullet Strat just look through my other videos dude
Closer to the affinity out of the three, the Bullets are very entry level
Are they all supposed to sound slightly different from each other?
Yes
@@theguitarmanifesto just to clarify I was talking different between guitars, not the different pickups
not the original question you asked 😂😂
hello nice video and the standard squier is better and more beatiful oh also in the livestream when i will text you tell hello Greece please
Ah sweet, the Standard did sound nice.
Yeah of course I will :)
I have the standard one, but i change the pickup and the hardware..
Awesome 🎸😎
Do you know of any 2-point vibrato systems that I can easily install on my Squier Deluxe Strat?
I'm not sure with an exact fit as you need to look for one with the right measurements.
Song? Great video by the way. 😁
Red hot chili peppers dude
Thanks so much!
Under the bridge
I think a music man cutlass is better than all of those lol
you should have used the bullet strat in this comparison aswell
I never had one at the time
Standard sounds the best
Why not classic?
@@abangbasti5009 acho porque e mais barato.
Is the Affinity made in Indonesia?
Yes it was
Some affinity are chinese
Affinity doesnt tune well :(
In this video or from your experience?
Rob The Meat Manifesto from the video. I wanted to know how good affinity Was. Do you think It can be used for recording?
Yeah fine for recording dude
Mine does and I use the bar a lot
Classic vibes are better than Mexico strats
I have had a few Mexican Strats and its certainly up there dude
I don't know if i agree with that
Well I played some not so good Fender Mexicans Mostly around 2010-.newer models but there are some crazy good Mexican Strats out there too. I had to think about that. I still say it depends.
Hello :v
Hey dude
Under The Bridge 7w7
rhcp song
Every single comparison video on TH-cam pairs a rosewood against a maple guitar , this tells us nothing
Maybe make your own videos 😂
