I was 12 at this moment here in Lexington. I walked all over downtown. I remember running around the Festival Market and going to TJ's Cinnamon Bakery across the street from Triangle Park. I lived up by the Health Department on Ash Street. Takes me waaay back. Thank You for this snapshot.
I work in Lexington 5 days a week. Drive down Broadway to Versailles Rd every day. It's cool to see Lexington from back then. It's definitely not the same as it was in 1989.
my father grew up in lexington in the 80’s and 90’s. would always tell me lexington was so much better back in the day . back then he said he could ride around town with his buddies on bikes and they’d never have issues . different world we live in today
My Grandfather lived in Lexington in the 1960’s and he said that was the best time to live there. He would always say Lexington in the 80’s & 90’s were terrible. It’s all nostalgia. Everything was better when we were kids.
@@douglasneat9147I would argue the city has only improved since then. I grew up here and was born in the early 2000’s I used to ride my bike around the city just 3 or 4 years ago, still no problems at all. The homeless are not the people out to get you😂
I lived here at this time, was finishing up my 2nd semester at University of Kentucky. Was an eternity ago, and yet seems like yesterday at times. Lexington's a good city to live in. Wouldn't mind moving back again.
Thats amazing, I've never been in USA but my dream is to know this country. I met a friend on internet that lives in Scotsville thats why Im watching some videos from KY
I remember flying Piedmont from LEX to O’Hare back then. The Toyota effect hadn’t really taken hold yet. Lexington was still a small town where folks knew each other.
Buddy it's in louisville a lot closer to you, I go out most nice weekends and I'm in my late 40s, leave around 1 and your fine, huge police presence, the violence isn't from locals, Detroit, Chicago, and indy don't ask me how I know.
I went to UK in the early 90s and liked the city. It had kind of a small-town atmosphere despite its size. But, three decades later, I hate going to Lexington. The city has sadly lost all its charm and become as bad as Louisville. Sometimes growth isn't good.
And you serious, nothing is the same, the McDonald's with the basment and Mr. Steak, along with the no traffic, I moved he in 87 and can't believe how much it's changing, but I live I. Montgomery co. Now
@randallwilliams7338 have you driven down nicholasville rd, buddy. It's nothing like this, I grew up in souther Fayette co. I just live in mt sterling and nothing here is new besides a by pass, and that's evert kentucky big town.
I was 7 wandering around somewhere in Lexington right at this time. GOD BLESS Lexington!!! A great place to grow up and live!!!

He is correct. We used to ride around downtown all the time and never had any problems. There was no homeless, druggies at all.
He is right

My Hometown. Wow! I was 4 years old in 1989. Crazy to see what it was and what it is now.
I remember that Long John Silver's being right there on Nicholasville Road beside SuperAmerica that used to be called.

Hello Lexingtonians !
I miss Lexington, but then again, the violence going on all the time makes me glad that I live in oldham county.

@Jason-ws3cd yeah. Oldham is near louisville but it's pretty much void of the violence that goes own in the metro.
@@AlexPlaysGaming I get it buddy but it's not Chicago, turn off the news, I always carry and enjoy life
