I’m a freshman in high school in welding 1. We are doing mig right now and out teacher is giving us your videos for homework and they have helped me a lot. I’m not the best welder but I’m decent and I love welding. Thanks for the help.
If you like welding, stick with it and learn it as best you can so that when your classmates go off to rack up student loan debt in college, you can start dragging in over $30K/yr the day after graduation and be making closer to $50K by the time they come out of college and have to start paying those loans off. Also, go to Jody's website. It's a lot easier to find videos classified into what you are looking for than trying to sort through the TH-cam channel. Watch as much of his stuff as you can, and if you still need to learn more after that, you can always get some trade school classes. But I'm serious - good welders are in very high demand and make pretty good money.
While in shop class, each student ran 2 runs of stick. That was it. Hindsite is 20/20. My 50th graduation party is coming up. I took a couple of welding classes 2 years ago. I wish I had continued with the skill of welding. Now, it's a fun hobbie. I'm on my 3rd log splitter and second rocket stove. Watch the early chucke. 5 or six years ago he was just out of high school and possibly in welding school. Lots of info on his channel too. B4 my welding school, I'd ask questions and Jessy would always respond. Your teacher chose well. Good luck kid!!!PS So important not to breath the fumes. From a 68 year ol-dude.Lite-m-up!
Saint Peter said Jody you may now enter heaven I just need you to do a little welding on the front gate. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos it helps so many guys new to the trade and guys like me that have done the same few tasks over and over , again for many years learn new things ... Pete M
I love my clear cup and tig finger. Bought a CK flex-loc 250 water cooled torch years ago after melting several air cooled heads and wouldn't have anything else now. Still running an old dinosaur Syncrowave 500 without the bells and whistles but a dependable old workhorse for what I do. Keep up the good work Jody.
Thanks for everything jody! You’ve done alot for me, i’m improving my welding skills everyday because of you! Keep on the good work, I enjoy every video!
I started out with TIG 40 years ago, then went to MIG for the last 38 years of that. Now, I'm setting up to TIG again. Seems about the same techniques, but the clear cup is a winner. My eyes ain't so good anymore either. Also, thanks for the heads up on the pesky crater cracks!
Great arc shots! You’re a gambler welding the glass cup on AC! I always wreck them with spatter it I dip- only ceramic for me! You are braver than I! Weld on brother! 💪💪💪
Very well done. Been fabricating for many years at my shop, and always find something to learn or try out from your channel. Very thorough and to the point👍👍
I love the clear cups! They help tremendously for aging eyes..and thanks again Jody..for all you do and the professional info you share! Teaching myself to tig..and your videos and products have been a backbone to lean on!!
Although I can do multivariable calculus and differential equations trying to TIG weld is something that has eluded me for 20+ years. I took a class when I was a senior in high school up at the college, but I never got the perfect rhythm of torch movement, Rod dipping and pedal control. I think my biggest problem was actually that I was trying to do it based on Rhythm rather than doing it based on the puddle. I don't have a strong need to learn how to TIG weld in my life but it's just one of those things that I put on my bucket list such a long time ago I can't give up now. Anyways I really love your videos because you explain it to someone like they have no idea why you're doing what you're doing, which is how all great instructors should explain things
Hi Jodi !! a very pleasant good morning to you . Once again thank you for your contribution to the welding society folks. I very much appreciate your support. Well explained and lots ot tips. Just wishing that I could be able to attend one of your seminars and tutoring. That's for passing on your achievements.(Andrew)
Jody, love your vids and skills! Thank you for all the information you impart to us all, truly a wonderful encyclopedia of useful "tips and tricks". .you the man!!!
Thanks so much Jody, your advice has been very helpful to me for my TIG class, and your TIG Finger is popular with the instructors, and your videos recommended, but I have already been following you on youtube for a couple of years! I am having the most difficulty with "square groove" welds on aluminum, getting full penetration without blowing through the material. I don't think i have seen you do that one yet.
I've been learning how to TIG aluminum this past year and you have been a critical resource! Thanks! Maybe you could do a hollow aluminum cube made from 1" square tubing 1/8" thick or 1/16" thick. Already been practicing on my own to build a van galley for my Sprinter buildout but it would be awesome to see you do it. I guarantee that from your commentary, I would find a bunch of golden nuggets of tips and tricks!
Nice video, Jody. I learn so much from you. I would love to see a video comparing the different wave forms (sine, square, soft square, etc.) and how you think they affect the welds.
Thanks, man!!! Great video as usual!! I also would like some kind of in-helmet indication of the amperage, or kind of a bar that tells you how much are you pushing the pedal...I'm working on it now!!!
Always enjoy ur vids. Ur 2nd to none U ever think about doing these weld cube. Weld coupons for ur weld site Sell them as kits so pep can follow ur vids with the same materials I think market for pre cut weld coupons So many starting out don’t have supply houses or means to cut n prep
Wish the welds had break bend tests to compare filler alloys? Also descaling vs raw mill scaled metals would show that surface prep makes a world of difference in final weld strength/failure. Like a polished etched section of coupon; a break-bend test gives a real world summary of weld strength as applied in different alloys and surface prep sequences.
Been watching WTT for years, and it happens every time; get motivated, go to the shop, and within seconds you remember: you're not Jody. I have a specific drill and a bench grinder covered in tungsten dust as a shrine to how very much not-Jody I am.
gasfiltered 🤣🤣🤣 trust me. I totally get it. I’m getting better though. I have fortunately been able to sit down with Jody and have him coach me and it made a world of difference.
Hey Jody, really like watching your videos. You're like the Bob Ross for welding. Just wanted to ask if you could make a video about the cobra/hen rod torch. It be cool seeing it from you. 👌
Hi Jody thanks for all your effort! Great job! I have a question , I’m active in automotive sector. So I want to learn a proper way to weld aluminum wheels who are cracked. Can you do a video of that? Greeting from Belgium
Since I started welding 8 years ago I've been saying how great it would be to have a HUD inside the welding helmet. Probably will never have one, but I agree, it's coming at some point.
Great video as usual! Have you ever had to opportunity to use the Lincoln Aspect 230 AC/DC? Would it be possible to see a review or some video using that welder in the future? Thanks for all the great info!
As always extremely informative and well put together. Jodi I have a request. Would you do a video using a Miller 215 multi-process DC TIG welding aluminum? I bought my machine w/tig kit 6 months before they released the full load machine that had the AC capabilities. I need to build some aluminum intercooler pipes for my Dodge, and would rather not hire it out. Thank you for your consideration.
Forgive me I’m new to Tig welding and still trying to figure it out, but nobody ever talks about how wide the weld should be like on a lap joint or a butt joint etc..... and how deep the penetration should be
Lincoln 205t Invertec: Can any one help with settings? My arc is way too ~violent, sporadic, jumpy, crazy. I file the tungsten to a point (believe Gold 1.5%) , pulse setting off, everything from ~10-20"s of gas....turning down the amperage I can't get a puddle...so I guess I need the two other settings balance & frequency. I'm welding all automotive applications: weld on AN bungs, tanks, nipple barbs, coolant pipes...so nothing heavy.
As people say, your chanel is awesome,but...the are few of us i think from Europe,so it will be very helpful if you could your numbers tell or show in mm for us. The second thing is that i recently bought a AC\DC puls Tig,and I'm still struggling with the setting, specialy with Aluminium. So ,one question, how many ampers is recommended to be between the upper and lower puls welding? Thanks
You said you were using Argon welding Aluminum. Why not use Helium? I may be showing my ignorance, back in my Boeing days my tooling welders always used Helium when welding aluminum, and Argon on steel! You also made a statement, which is a great idea. One day you will have a heads up display inside your helmet. That would be nice, as long as it stays out of your field of view.
Hey man I have a question that hopefully someone can answer. I want to get certified for my business. I mainly tig weld aluminum. What type of certification should I be looking at getting
Burkholder Innovations are they repair welds or are you producing a part? Most tig certs are given by an employer and are specific to the task, materials, and the customer. Im sure AWS would have a specification for what you are doing!
I’m a freshman in high school in welding 1. We are doing mig right now and out teacher is giving us your videos for homework and they have helped me a lot. I’m not the best welder but I’m decent and I love welding. Thanks for the help.

I am working on setting up a welders training school. Will like to link up with you for advise on training instructors.
@John Chrysostom Hmmmmm.......
I never get enough of this channel
best welding teacher PERIOD
Thank you Mr Coiller

Hey Jody thanks for being so patient with me! It's been years lol
I’m doing a 2 year welding program in my first year and this helps a lot
what an excellent tutorial .Clear, detailed and concise not a second wasted....

Love the clear cup. And the quality of your video is so good
Great video Jody and some stellar arc shots 👌 thanks . Be blessed!!!
You are like a robotic welder. You are so precise. I only wish my powertig skills were so good.

Always a wealth of knowledge and technique. Thank you for teaching us!

the visual quality of the video is super crisp!

I've already learned so much from you. great and detailed explained and shown. Best wishes from Bavaria. Chris
Nice welds!! Nice closeup shots!!!
Thanks Joey love your channel, love from the UK.
your store rocks thanks for the stuff
Thank you
You should do a video showing your setup to film arc shots with that would be a cool video
Jody that's some beautiful aluminum welding!!!
My favorite channel.
Nice video, Jody. I learn so much from you. I would love to see a video comparing the different wave forms (sine, square, soft square, etc.) and how you think they affect the welds.
Love the shirt sir!👍🏼 I graduated from there about a month ago
Thanks, man!!! Great video as usual!! I also would like some kind of in-helmet indication of the amperage, or kind of a bar that tells you how much are you pushing the pedal...I'm working on it now!!!
very nice, great lesson , thanks
Always good info going to need to order a new gig finger set one of the best Tig tools ever.
Very nice demo👍👊👊
Always enjoy ur vids. Ur 2nd to none

Awesome video Jody thanks you the man 👊🏻
Like always, love your videos.
Well done Jody, great movie!
You make this look so easy.

Looks like there was a little porosity at the end of the weld, would be cool to see a video in-depth on porosity in aluminum welds
Agreed!
Love this cup!
Excelente.
Gracias por mostrar tu forma de trabajar.

I’m with you on cleaning electrodes on aluminum. I get one weld done and one to clean.....
Welds look fantastic! If only all it took was me buying a different cup to weld like that. lol
Super spawasz. Kiedyś może dojdę do takiej wprawy.
Awesome! As usual
As always extremely informative and well put together.

You should market the “amp in hood” idea!
could be done with a raspberry pi display in the hood showing a camera feed of the amp display?
Also the gas flow can alter the cleaning action and arc stability if its a little high
Wish my welds looked like those.
Very nice welding, great videos with good concise information. By the way where do you get the clear cups from, not that i'll get them in the UK.
Thank you.
That cube is a cool project. Can a copper plate be stacked next, just to finish it out .
Beautiful just beautiful!! ...cup 5
Good job
The amount I've learned from your vids lol still not used a Tig yet hahahaha
please make an aluminum welding tutorial using acetylene welding. Thanks...
Hermosa soldadura espero algun día soldar asi
One thing I might actually be better at than Jody...
Dipping electrodes in the puddle. Or whacking it with the filler rod, I'm really good at that.
Forgive me I’m new to Tig welding and still trying to figure it out, but nobody ever talks about how wide the weld should be like on a lap joint or a butt joint etc..... and how deep the penetration should be
Do you have you Tig hose running through a loop on the edge of the table? Thanks for all the help.
Lincoln 205t Invertec: Can any one help with settings?

I'm welding all automotive applications: weld on AN bungs, tanks, nipple barbs, coolant pipes...so nothing heavy.
Are you increasing the amperage when you add filler or are you holding it pretty consistent until you get towards the end?
Hello Sr, is it possible to weld directly on a car motor with this machine? Or can it damage electronics on the car?
It's like watching Tony Hawk in the halfpipe. He makes this look so easy.
Perfect 🖒
Well call those welds butter in my shop because those are washed in beautifully.
As people say, your chanel is awesome,but...the are few of us i think from Europe,so it will be very helpful if you could your numbers tell or show in mm for us.

The godfather lays it out again. Thanks for sharing Jody..!!
I need help. I job with a welder miller maxstar 200 dx. But i don't now how put to work the pulse
Do you ever use argon/helium for aluminum? We keep a bottle on the back of our machines.
Does anyone know why he chooses to run a longer back cap versus a shorter one?
Vraiment un travail de qualité et de professionnels

Can u do a video on marine aluminium welding
Anodize. Aluminium
What thickness wis this aluminum?
I thought we weren't supposed to use the Pyrex FUPA cups with aluminum?
Jody, what year did you compete at WorldSkills? 🇺🇸🤜💥🤛💪💪💪
Bret Lambky helium is more expensive to run, but yes you can run it or an argon helium mix. It is better for getting heat into a part
Factor of 2.2X cup size 👍🏼 guess I didn’t see this before 🤦🏼♂️
These old eyes need all the help we can get!
A grinder and paint make me the welder I ain’t
good❤❤❤❤
Greetings from Portugal. I would like to know, what is the longevity of those cups? Thanks!
A very long time, if you don't drop them lol

It is all repair, for different companies. They don’t require a cert but it will just sound better to say I’m certified
Burkholder Innovations i would look at getting a 2G butt weld pipe cert for tubing and maybe a fillet weld cert? Up to you man. All i do is tubing

When you started your 2nd lap weld why did the arc jump around like that? Was the torch not close enough?
Slow on the foot pedal. Wanted to give it plenty of pre gas.
