    Excellent. I was entertaining the same idea to more effectively discharge small rocks that will grind away in the gap between the impeller and housing. Discharging wet snow would be a bonus.

      Did you do the mod? If yes how do you like it?

  • @richardcabitto5108
    @richardcabitto5108 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Heck ya! Just did this mod to my new St224! Throws snow at least ten feet farther down the lane! Can’t wait to see how she goes in slushy stuff! Pretty sure I know what’s gonna happen!

    This mod will help any two stage snowblower achieve betterer performance for sure. Did it to my old 5.5 hp Yard Man and made a huge difference! Like he said take different size bites and see where she performs best then your good to go! My mod has been five years running with self tapping sheet metal screws and tire sidewalls. Holding up fine!

    Got it from a Nieghbor that moved away in trade for some work on his truck and 300 bucks. Hadn’t really looked at the thing closely but new it threw snow further than mine! Lol! live and learn! It is like new. One thing I’d like to fix is the low idle. Whenever it’s warm and I turn the engine speed down it won’t go all the way to idle. I feel like the dial might break . Is there a way to fix this issue. More folks have to be having this issue??? Thanks

    I see this video was posted a while ago but figure i worth asking if you are still using the same machine and how it held up

    • @pattayperformance
      @pattayperformance  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Customer is still using it and very happy with it. Remeber to just use the low gears don't go to higher gears so you don't run the risk of snapping the plastic console

    I have some 3/16 thick rubber conveyor belting, do you think it would work for this modification? Also have you had any issue with the sheet metal screws stripping out over time? Suppose you could always bolt on later if they did.

    • @pattayperformance
      @pattayperformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had someone use 1/2” thick rubber and said it works great but won’t know how well until snow falls.
      I have had ZERO issues with sheet metal screws. My ariens are 5-6 years with impeller mod and still holding up well with commercial use 🔧🦅🤙🏻🇺🇸
      This year due to WUFLU I can’t get the Mudflaps (MF) I have been using for years. I had to switch to a different supplier. The flap is thicker and I like it! Issue with the new and thicker MF, is on some machines the impeller is made of plastic and on those I have to NUT and Bolt it

    Thanks for the video and the great idea...I have the 227 and am constantly clearing slushy snow out. Is that what caused my drive belt to slip off?

    • @pattayperformance
      @pattayperformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This will solve the slushy problem and extend belt life. Your belt is slipping off bc it is stretched/worn. Try and adjust the tensioner or just replace the belt.

      Do you have (or know of) a video on removing the impeller for the Husqvarna 224/227? As I was looking at the impeller to make this mod I realized the fins were barely hanging on. But I can’t seem to break the nut on the impeller pulley wheel. I’ve been turning counter clockwise but am starting to round the nut. It’s not supposed to go clockwise is it? Thanks

    Question: I have been getting objects wedge between my impeller and bucket and it damages the bearing on this husqvarna. Now the bearing doesn't seat tight into the housing. Not sure the housing is worn. If the bearing doesn't sit tight in housing the auger shaft will have play. I fould thing as I tighten the pulley it would pull the auger shaft tight so the bearing doesn't slip out. Have you seen this issue?

    • @pattayperformance
      @pattayperformance  ปีที่แล้ว

      No but I would add a brace to auger gear box to the housing.

  • @chvydrptop

    Looking for advise on how to replace the impeller on my Husqvarna st224 snowblower. I sucked in a big rock from my gravel driveway and it’s bent beyond repair

    • @pattayperformance
      @pattayperformance  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m really sorry to hear that! Surprised the sheer pins on the impeller didn’t break to protect the impeller.
      Pick up basic tool set with metric and standard sockets and wrenches, hammer and a few punches.
      If you have a jack stand…use it support the console part/frame where the motor is mounted.
      Get Jack stand into place
      Split machine is half (make sure all your cables and chute is disconnected first).
      You will have the auger housing by itself now. Remove the big auger pulley…so it should be the bearing and shaft. Remove the bolts on the side of each auger housing. See if the whole ASM slides in and out. If it does pull it out…remove sheer pins…slide impeller off. Get wire wheel or brush and clean the shaft. COVER IT IN ANTISEIZE…install new impeller and reverse the process to install.
      Both my wife and I have Covid…if you get a point where you need help send us a message on Instagram and we can do a live video chat to walk you through where you are stuck

      Yes, BUT you will greatly reduce the risk if you follow my regiment. Part of my maintenance on the machine is cover in oil before being put away, before snow hits and just before I use it.
      Reward outweighs the risk in this case. This machine is made by AYP. Machine will fall apart before the impeller does.

      No real issues except I did not realize this model does not provide the levers to unlock hubs to make turning it around much easier than ganking it about! Really messed up my back on the first snow here a month ago ! I was freaking out! Lol! Nothing I can do about though. Had an old yard man with 5.5 horse Tecumseh with the pin on the axle you could switch spots with for positive traction or open differential action! It was given to me and I loved it ! Especially after I did the impeller mod! Used it for years and gave it away a couple months ago when I got this one! Dang it. I’m going to do the mod to this one but sure wished I had realized drive/steering issues before buying this one but agreed, it is better than shoveling! Cheers and merry Christmas! Still supposed to leave a gap ....your going to rip all the paint off the inside of the drum .

    • @kcstereo
      @kcstereo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, there is no reason to leave so much overlap of the rubber material. Two mm gap is more than sufficient to get the job done without tearing off the inner paint on auger wall. Additionally, there are silicone sprays with teflon and other sprays that help prevent the snow from sticking to the auger and moving parts. Preventative maintenance means don't cause future issues that need further maintenance due to improper installation in the first place

    • @pattayperformance
      @pattayperformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kcstereo
      I will continue to disagree, you leave a gap you are defeating the purpose the purpose of the modification. Here we are year 6 with Commercial Used and Abused Ariens with the Impeller modification done right and zero issues. They are all still chuckers and no rust. Even with out the impeller modification you should be coating the inside of the machine with oil based spray...even Pam will do. You can try ceramic coating but to me the effort isn’t worth the results.
      You hit the nail right on the head!
      Preventative maintenance is key...since you own such a cheaply made machine it’s more important than ever to address scrapes and scratches before they turn to rust...rust turns to rot.
